@bluebelle,

Are you (or anyone) getting a sense that BillyB will quit? That's been popping up for me since the weekend. I can't tell whether it's intuition or wishful thinking.

@deetoo. I haven’t picked up Barr’s resignation yet, but I do sense his underlying fear.  Despite Barr’s arrogance, he has never faced this kind of real time public scrutiny of his behind the scenes machinations.  Despite his claim that he doesn’t care about his legacy, he does care.  The fact that there’s rebellion in the ranks at the DOJ, that judges are having an emergency meeting regarding his misconduct and that four prosecutors have resigned in protest over his interference-all these events expose him as never before.  I don’t know about you, but I’m liking it.  Momentous week.

@triciact, that's right -- you did mention about Barr resigning.  Sorry about that!  Duh ... I blame in all on my post-menopausal brain.  (One of the great things about aging is you can blame any missteps on aging -- whether it's true or not.)

@bluebelle, I also sense BB's fear.  And I'm really liking it too.  I'm also seeing more current DOJ officials quitting, unless BB is gone before then.

ha no apology needed. I can't remember things I told my husband just yesterday. He reminded me of something I told him yesterday and said "you already told me that yesterday". Geez I'm becoming my parents and grandparents more and more LOL

With Barr, I get the impression that he thought that he could use this situation to get his (extremist) agenda pushed through. However, he was arrogant enough to think that he could just swoop in and do what he wanted - similar to what he got away with last time. He did not take into account the difference in the times. The internet, social media and just the constant attention of the media have made for a different world. I always figured he would do this job as long as he can get away with what he wants to do and placate his boss in the meantime. I figure the next month will be pivotal in this and his decision about whether or not to call it quits and retire for “health reasons”. I’m sure though that he isn’t willing to go to jail for his boss.

T. is ranting and raving this morning about suing everyone involved with the Mueller investigation.  Idiot.

@baba, as I read your post about BillyB, the Springsteen song "Blinded by the Light" popped into my head.  My immediate thought was that BB has been blinded by his religious fanaticism.  Like Jake and Elwood in the Blues Brothers movie, BB believes "They're not gonna catch us.  We're on a mission from God."  But Jake and Elwood had charitable intentions and were harmless; BB is not.  Billy's ego is propelling him to create a new political order in this country, based on his extremist religious beliefs.

Immediately after I heard that refrain "blinded by the light," I then heard "wrapped up like a douche."  I laughed out loud -- for years I didn't know all the lyrics, so I would make up my own.  The real lyrics are "revved up like a deuce."   As it relates to Billy, I like my version better.

I just saw on Twitter that Barr was seen entering the White House shortly before T. left for a trip. I wonder what kind of monkey business they are up to or if Barr maybe threatened to resign. All of the pardoning and commuting of sentences started shortly thereafter. I think T. is panicking today.

deetoo,

When one of my kids was a pre-teen, we had to have a little lyric correction session. Uh, yeah, lets make sure we know what we're singing.  ?

Your lyrical post sent me right back to probably my most embarrassing childhood memory. I thought I was going to take that one to the grave but since I bombard you guys with my opinionated rants regularly, I figure I'd add some self deprecating humor in there as well and give everyone a laugh. Disclaimer-I am not responsible for any mental anguish or cleanup of spit takes due to this. Read at your own risk. You're also all sworn to secrecy. ???

I think I was 6 or 7 at the time and playing around under the bathroom sink, knowing I wasnt supposed to be there. I stumbled onto the coolest thing I'd ever seen. It was a huge square red deflated balloon with a long rubber hose attached to it-of course for easy inflation. I proceeded to try to inflate that balloon and was so proud of myself when I did. I played with that thing for a good 10 mins before leaving the lavatory and not telling anyone so I didnt get in trouble.

Fast forward about a decade and I find out what that balloon really was. I've never told a soul that out of disgust and embarrassment, but now being in my 40s and no longer having any shits to give, I might as well make a few good people laugh at it.

@mas1581, I love it!  And with each advancing year, you'll care even less what you confess.  It's all quite liberating.

I really dont care who thinks what of me anymore. I've got a wife and kids that love me(well put up with me at least haha) and friends as well. Outside of that, my only request is that if someone isnt going to like me, at least do it for a good reason. I'm sure I've given people plenty with me being as openly opinionated as I am.

That said, I'll never tell my wife that story because as much hell as I give her in public for stupid stuff she does and vice versa, she will tell that story 10x a day for the rest of my life.

Here is the official statement from the White House on " Pardon Day".

I think my favorite part was how they described Michael Milken as  "one of America’s greatest financiers".

Also, this bit on who supports Blagojevich,   "more than a hundred of Mr. Blagojevich’s fellow inmates have written letters in support of reducing his sentence".

You should read the statement, and the descriptions of some of the  fabulous and upstanding criminals  he has pardoned today.

@deetoo and @mas1581

My husband and I were walking today and he mentioned he saw one of our neighbors jogging the other day. The guy is in his 70s and my husband said he was wearing christmas pajama bottoms (alvin and the chipmunks with christmas trees on them).  So my husband asked me why that would happen. I told him, well, the guy is in his 70s. He has gotten to the point he just doesn't care about what people think anymore and he was comfortable. I reminded him of when my father was in his 80s and was wearing very strange clothes that were also very worn. Part of it was dementia and part of it was just not worrying about what people thought anymore. (Perhaps we can relate this to the Orange Nightmare too right!)

I then made sure my husband knew he was never allowed to do this, even when we are in our 70s. But we sure don't care as much about what people think as we did when we were young LOL.

Mas1581: love that story - fell off my chair on that one!

I have a pair of Alvin and the chipmunk xmas PJ pants. Maybe they're the same ones.....and yes, I've worn them out to the store before.

Fortunately my husband hates pajamas.  But he's been wearing this crazy Pokemon knit cap to work in the cold weather.  I think he bought it from a street vendor.

I "accidentally" added it to the donations bag, and bought him a warm knit cap for Christmas.

My bad ...

Reading Barr.

Oddly, I hadn't been reading much of any news about Barr 10-11 days ago when Barr popped up on my inner screen. It was unusual for a public figure to pop up in my mind like that.   He was agitated.  I threw a card right before my class on the 10th and saw he was panicking, defending himself. Grasping for any way to rationalize his behavior.  So I read him near the end of my class on Monday night in front of those still there and saw he was a mess of defensive stammering.

Now  I feel the GOP inner circle is circling their wagons around him and telling him to hang on and he will weather this storm and morph into a big man. And a rich man.   He wants to be respected and the GOP cult leaders are telling him that he is in the right and they need him and he is setting new precedents and will become a great leader in this New World Order that is Trump.

They are talking to him like supporters pump up a prize fighter in the ring.

He doesn't know what is right or wrong but he's getting huge pressure to quit and to stay.   I can't be sure what he will do because he feels so confused right now.  He can't sleep, he is a mess.   They are telling him to double down and weather the storm. That if he resigns now he will be resigning in disgrace and they are going to help him become respected again.  Just wait, we will have the whole world at our feet and you will be the A.G.!

Bottom line.  I have to see what the news is in the morning.  Because right now there is a tug of war of energies.
