I've always felt chills whenever hearing Simon and Garfunkle's Bridge over troubled water. Words for now for sure.

When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all, all
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

@stargazer    i saw Patti Smith when she gave a free concert at People's Park, in Berkeley.  She gave the concert as a way to thank all of the people who were protesting the start of the war in Iraq.  Love her

People have the power

The power to dream,

to rule

To wrestle the earth from fools

It's decreed the people rule

It's decreed the people rule

Listen, I believe everythin' we dream

Can come to pass through our union

We can turn the world around

We can turn the earth's revolution

We have the power

People have the power

Last night I was deep in insomniac brooding about personal problems, and my irritability was only inflamed by the current state of the world. To center myself I randomly opened my copy of the Tao Te Ching to chapter 31, and it contained just the message I needed. Reading it didn't make my problems go away, but it was still a balm:

"Good weapons are instruments of fear; all creatures hate them

Therefore followers of Tao never use them.

The wise prefer the left.

Soldiers the right.

"Weapons are instruments of fear; they are not tools of the wise.

They use them only when there is no choice.

Peace and quiet are dear to their hearts.

And victory no cause for rejoicing.

If you rejoice in victory, then you delight in killing;

If you delight in killing, you cannot fulfill yourself.

"On happy occasions precedence is given to the left,

On sad occasions, to the right.

In the army the general stand son the left,

The commander-in-chief on the right.

This means that war is conducted like a funeral.

When many people are killed,

They should be mourned in heartfelt sorrow.

That is why a victory must be observed like a funeral."

This song has been coming to me off and on over the past few weeks and I think it speaks to the transition that we are going through right now and also the role we Light Workers are playing in it:

Sowing the Seeds of Love

High time, we made a stand
And shook up the views of the common man
The love train rides from coast to coast
DJ's the man we love the most

Could you be, could you be squeaky clean and smash any hope of democracy
As the head line says you're free to choose
There's egg on your face and mud on your shoes
One of these days they're gonna call it the blues yeah, yeah

Sowing the seeds of love, seeds of love, sowing the seeds
Sowing the seeds of love, seeds of love, sowing the seeds

I spy tears in their eyes they look to the skies
For some kind of divine intervention
Food goes to waste
So nice to eat, so nice to taste

Politician granny with your high ideals
Have you no idea how the majority feels?
So without love and a promised land
We're fools to the rules of a government plan
Kick out the style, bring back the jam, yeah, yeah

Sowing the seeds of love, seeds of love, sowing the seeds
Sowing the seeds of love, seeds of love, sowing the seeds
The birds and the bees
My girlfriend and me, in love

Feel the pain
Talk about it
If you're a wanted man
Then shout about it

Open hearts, feel about it
Open minds, think about it
Everyone, read about it
Everyone, scream about it
Everyone (everyone, yeah)
Everyone (everyone) read about it, read about it
Read it in the books, in the crannies and the nooks, there are books to read

(Sowing the seeds) Sowing the seeds of love, we're sowing the seeds,
Sowing the seeds
Sowing the seeds of love, sowing the seeds
Sowing the seeds of love
Sowing the seeds of love
Mister England sowing the seeds of love

Time to eat all your words
Swallow your pride
Open your eyes

Time to eat all your words
Swallow your pride
Open your eyes

Time to eat all your words (high time we made a stand and shook up the view of the common man)
Swallow your pride (and the love train rides from coast to coast)
Open your eyes (every minute of every hour)
Open your eyes (I love a sunflower)
Open your eyes (and I believe in love power, love power)
Open your eyes (love power)

Sowing the seeds of love, seeds of love, sowing the seeds
Sowing the seeds of love, seeds of love, sowing the seeds
Sowing the seeds of love, seeds of love
Sowing the seeds, an end to need
And the politics of greed

Sowing the seeds of love, seeds of love, sowing the seeds
Sowing the seeds of love (hand in hand), seeds of love (hand in hand), sowing the seeds
Sowing the seeds of love, seeds of love, sowing the seeds
An end to need
The politics of greed

Sowing the seeds of love, seeds of love, sowing the seeds
Sowing the seeds of love, seeds of love, sowing the seeds
Sowing the seeds of love, seeds of love, sowing the seeds
Sowing the seeds of love

I'm copying this from the need support thread because I was hearing this song in my head all morning and the lyrics are so beautiful:

I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing (In Perfect Harmony)

I'd like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow white turtle doves

I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I'd like to hold it in my arms
And keep it company

I'd like to see the world for once
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills
For peace through out the land
(That's the song I hear)

I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony

I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony

I'd like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow white turtle doves

I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I'd like to hold it in my arms
And keep it company

I'd like to see the world for once
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills
For peace through out the land
(That's the song I hear)

I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony

I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony

I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony, that's the song I hear

@triciact  That song is forever ruined for me by the Coca Cola ad from the eighties.  Even reading it I automatically insert Coca Cola into the lyrics...?

I heard a song on the radio this morning that I heard awhile back and loved. The sound, the feel of it...just really connected. It is called “Colors” by an Austin-based duo called Black Pumas. They had a big breakout year last year. Just hearing it again today, with all that is going on, I wanted to share. Article about them below and link to the song:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/americansongwriter.com/black-pumas-release-stunning-powerful-new-video-for-colors/%3famp

I woke up to the morning sky first
Baby blue just like we rehearsed
When I get up off this ground
I shake leaves back down to the brown, brown, brown, 'til I'm clean
Then I walked where I'd be shaded by the trees by a meadow of green
For about a mile I'm headed to town, town, town, in style
With all my favorite colors
All my favorite colors
My sisters and my brothers see them like no other
All my favorite colors
It's good day to be, a good day for me, a good day to see my favorite colors
My sisters and my brothers, they see them like no other
All my favorite colors
Now take me to the otherside
Where the baby blues birds fly
In grey clouds, or white walls, or blue skies we gon' fly, feel alright
Now we gon' woo ooh woo ooh woo ooh ya
They sound like woo ooh woo ooh woo ooh ya
The least I can say I anticipate a homecome parade as we renegade in the morning
All my favorite colors
All my favorite colors
My sisters and my brothers see them like no other
All my favorite colors
All my favorite colors
All my favorite colors, yes ma'am
My sisters and my brothers see 'em like no other
All my favorite colors
It's good day to be, a good day for me, a good day to see my favorite colors
My sisters and my brothers, they see them like no other
All my favorite colors

Takin it to the Streets!  I heard this today -- not a coincidence.  I love the original by the Doobie Brothers w/Michael McDonald, but this live performance is just as fantastic:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQmYB7_Z93Q

Takin It to the Streets
performed by the Dukes of September
Music & lyrics by Michael McDonald

You don't know me but I'm your brother
I was raised here in this living hell
You don't know my kind in your world
Fairly soon, the time will tell

You, telling me the things
you're gonna do for me
I ain't blind and I don't like
what I think I see

(Takin' it to the streets)
Takin' it to the streets
(Takin' it to the streets)
No more need for running
(Takin' it to the streets)

Take this message to my brother
You will find him everywhere
Wherever people live together
Tied in poverty's despair

Oh, you, Telling me the things
you're gonna do for me
I ain't blind and I don't like
what I think I see

(Takin' it to the streets)
Takin' it to the streets
(Takin' it to the streets)

No more need for running
(Takin' it to the streets)
No more need for hiding
(Takin' it to the streets)
Hey, yeah, yeah
(Takin' it to the streets)
No more
(Takin" it to the streets)
Yeah, yeah

Kind of silly, but I woke up this morning with a song in my head that I haven't listened to in years:

Your Racist Friday by They Might Be Giants

This is where the party ends
I can't stand here listening to you
And your racist friend
I know politics bore you
But I feel like a hypocrite talking to you
And your racist friend

It was the loveliest party that I've ever attended
If anything was broken I'm sure it could be mended
My head can't tolerate this bobbing and pretending
Listen to some bullet-head and the madness that he's saying

This is where the party ends
I'll just sit here wondering how you
Can stand by your racist friend
I know politics bore you
But I feel like a hypocrite talking to you
You and your racist friend

This is where the party ends
I can't stand here listening to you
And your racist friend
I know politics bore you
But I feel like a hypocrite talking to you
And your racist friend

Out from the kitchen to the bedroom to the hallway
Your friend apologizes, he could see it my way
He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking
Can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding

This is where the party ends
I can't stand here listening to you
And your racist friend
I know politics bore you
But I feel like a hypocrite talking to you
And your racist friend

Leonard Cohen's song Democracy , with some highlights. Of course, he also wrote the very dark and wonderful song, Everybody Knows, but I am clinging to this one right now.

It's coming through a hole in the air
From those nights in Tiananmen Square
It's coming from the feel
That this ain't exactly real
Or it's real, but it ain't exactly there
From the wars against disorder
From the sirens night and day
From the fires of the homeless
From the ashes of the gay
Democracy is coming to the USA
It's coming through a crack in the wall
On a visionary flood of alcohol
From the staggering account
Of the Sermon on the Mount
Which I don't pretend to understand at all
It's coming from the silence
On the dock of the bay,
From the brave, the bold, the battered
Heart of Chevrolet
Democracy is coming to the USA
It's coming from the sorrow in the street
The holy places where the races meet
From the homicidal bitchin'
That goes down in every kitchen
To determine who will serve and who will eat
From the wells of disappointment
Where the women kneel to pray
For the grace of God in the desert here
And the desert far away:
Democracy is coming to the USA
Sail on, sail on
O mighty Ship of State
To the Shores of Need
Past the Reefs of Greed
Through the Squalls of Hate
Sail on, sail on, sail on, sail on
It's coming to America first
The cradle of the best and of the worst
It's here they got the range
And the machinery for change
And it's here they got the spiritual thirst
It's here the family's broken
And it's here the lonely say
That the heart has got to open
In a fundamental way
Democracy is coming to the USA
It's coming from the women and the men
O baby, we'll be making love again
We'll be going down so deep
The river's going to weep,
And the mountain's going to shout Amen
It's coming like the tidal flood
Beneath the lunar sway
Imperial, mysterious
In amorous array
Democracy is coming to the USA
Sail on, sail on
I'm sentimental, if you know what I mean
I love the country but I can't stand the scene
And I'm neither left or right
I'm just staying home tonight
Getting lost in that hopeless little screen
But I'm stubborn as those garbage bags
That Time cannot decay
I'm junk but I'm still holding up
This little wild bouquet
Democracy is coming to the USA

And for that man in the White House, a message from the brilliant author Isaac Asimov:

"Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent."
