@tgraf66 - I am not a legal scholar, but get my information online. Here is a link to information that I listed: https://legalknowledgebase.com/can-congress-restrict-the-supreme-court.
Ok. My earlier answer of 54 Senators would include 2 to drop the filibuster. If we keep the filibuster, then we would need technically 62 blue. (60 blue plus the two DINOs).
As for other solutions. There have been cases that the Supreme Court have made a decision in which the President refused to acknowledge the ruling. One of the best know was the Supreme Court ruling that it was acceptable to keep slaves during Lincoln’s presidency. The following is information about what happened after that ruling:
The Supreme Court of the United States of America (USA) ruled in one case that the freedom of slaves was unconstitutional as it would deprive slave owners of their property without due process of law. However, Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the USA, chose to ignore the decision, arguing that the President is an independent constitutional branch and judicial decisions are binding but interpretations may be ignored if unconstitutional.
So, there are options. But our current power structure will not allow us to partake of those options.
Right now, I feel so totally helpless about this situation.
@tesseract I have no words that will touch the feelings your poem and entire post evoked in me. There are only feelings, raw emotions, pain, love, transcendence;a glimpse of what our souls are, what our souls know, what our souls strive for. A connection to another. To be rooted in the understanding that we are all one, yet all separate. Even if that connection is established for a few paltry seconds, it is infinite.
I'm sorrowful for your pain. And celebrating your connection to a larger understanding.
@april We don't have health insurance, but are looking into my husband getting a vasectomy. We never wanted kids anyways. I have endometriosis and other hormonal issues, so this seems like the best plan. We are figuring out a way to pay for it, but it's happening.
@michellepazicni Do a Go Fund Me campaign and send the community a link to it. I'd be happy to help.
@lynnventura Wow, really?? that is so kind...I can't focus on work right now. I'm fine with my clients, but I cannot focus to get my paperwork done. I'm trying to read through these posts to feel a bit more hopeful. I'm pretty sure I can't get pregnant (I'm in perimenopause anyways), but there's still a chance and I know in my soul if I got pregnant, I would have complications and the way the law is set up in Ohio, I have this deep fear that I would end up dying. Sorry, off topic. I will look into how to do go fund me, I appreciate it!!
Just go to GoFundMe.com. It's fairly easy to set up. I've done it for others and it's a great way to raise some money for something you really need but can't afford. Once you set up the account you then send the link to anyone you know and ask them to send the link to people they know. It works. Good luck!
@michellepazicni 👍 We will also support your need. I hope this helps and eases some of your mental worrries.
@april We are not powerless! We actually hold all of the power. And though violence and corruption is being thrust upon us, we still hold all of the power.
The reason I feel helpless is because I have given my power to the government, which has been corrupted in my lifetime through greed. Greed for money, greed for power. I will try to execute my power through government (VOTE) even though this power is currently failing.
If this power fails me (again) I will subvert laws I do not agree with. I will remove all of my money (a small sum, but amplified when others do it as well) from those supporting laws I do not agree with. I will remove my services from those who do not support laws I agree with. I hope others will support me. If not, I'll take what resources I personally have, and move out. If I don't have the resources to move out, I'll make my own resources to not participate.
We need to understand we are not helpless!!!!
We need to come together in our resolve to stop the helplessness we are all feeling. Government is not going to resolve this. We are beyond having the government come to our rescue. We have to rescue ourselves through self determination and grassroots connection. This goes for abortion as healthcare - truly any health care, skin color( for God's sake still), sexual preference, consideration for equanimity for the earth itself.
So, no wonder we feel helpless. It's a lot to take on, and no one person can do it. If Jesus, the Buddah, Ghandi, MLK and untold others couldn't bring peace to the earth, who am I to take that on?
Whelp, I am me. And I believe I have my own personal power to reject greed and power to sublimate others who don't have my own personal view of the world. And I believe there are more people who believe they have their own personal power to reject greed and sublimation themselves. I believe we will join and amplify our power. Maybe not in my lifetime, but I believe it will happen.
We are not helpless. Once we decide to stop waiting for someone to rescue us, we are raw, untapped, non-violent power.
In this country, at this time, we have one more chance to vote and have it count. Popular consensus says we have until the presidential election in 2024. I don't think that's the timeline anymore. Of course I'm probably wrong, and I hope I am. But, as I see it, after the midterm elections this year, we are on our own, and free to utilize our individual and collective peaceful power, as we always are, but the government of the US will not be a viable method for enacting collective power for equality and basic human rights after the midterms. Prepare according to your own personal conviction and ability.
Michelle.
done, will share link with family and friends

Yes, Congress can decrease the size of SCOTUS members but CANNOT fire the ones we have right now, unless they have committed a felony. They can only say: "Well, we are going to have a 5 person SCOTUS". Then, they don't have to select the next four Justices, until the Supremes come down to 5 Justices. We will see if there is a move to impeach the three perjurers we have there acting on "our behalf" (tongue in cheek).
@luminata Thank you so much! I just found out that the way the Ohio law is written that it could put women who have ectopic pregnancies at risk of dying as well, which is one of my main concerns due to the endometriosis. It's just mind boggling.
Hi Michelle,
Is that what it will cost, $1000? I was wondering because PP does them, free or low cost, I think. Are they being shut down already? It's hard to keep up because the religious wingnut fascists have pounced on the decision and are moving at lightning speed.
It is very scary. I donated and I hope everything goes well for you.
@polarberry That's what we've been told, $1,000 :( I asked all of the planned parenthoods in my state and within driving distance in PA and they only offer referrals...we wanted to go to Planned Parenthood for it since they are so much cheaper!!!
