Whatever you call it, Hannity used Cohen, The Fixer, for legal advice. He is involved with the guy and although it's no surprise to me that Shawn Hannity is in with the shady set. (I have never considered him anything more than a Trump-loving spinster and lie machine.) It may be a surprise to some of the Hannity to find out he's associated with the likes of Cohen.
Well, no, I don't think it's clear at all that Hannity (or anybody else) was using Cohen for legal advice. And I'm being a stickler on this because it's actually a HUGE issue that the Michael Cohen raid hinges on. People call lawyers for all kinds of stuff, and a pretty significant percentage of it is not actually legal advice, even though it may be advice from a lawyer. For example, having your lawyer call up a magazine and threaten them for running an unflattering profile is not legal advice or services. Convincing a mistress to have an abortion is not legal advice. Moving real estate investments around to hide money laundering is also not legal advice. (Just sayin').
Based on what we've heard about what Cohen does, I would not be surprised if legit legal advice is really a very tiny slice of his "practice." And if it's not legal advice, it's not protected, and and that makes it fair game for the FBI warrant. (This was a large part of the government's argument for why it was okay to get a warrant to raid a "lawyer's" office).
Now, Hannity was certainly using Cohen for something (I don't think Michael Ryan would have named him in court as a client otherwise), but whether it was actually legal advice is not clear at all. Just from what Hannity said in that scrambled monologue on the air (which he had clearly not consulted an attorney about), it's not clear at all. And I have to say that when Hannity mentioned that he asked Cohen for advice on real estate matters, my antennae went up.
It's really a question of who is too dumb and/or arrogant to realize what is happening now.
