Did anyone watch the 1/6 hearing yesterday and see the testimony of Cassidy Hutchinson?  Thoughts?

@theungamer Yes - I was listening to it while I was running errands and then watched when I got home. I thought it was very interesting and important. She is under oath and I think that gives what she said weight (vs the people who are saying, that didn't happen or this didn't happen.) Lots of direct insight into the mindset of the higher-ups, including T, that day. I don't know enough about the legal details to know if this has as big an impact as I hope it does. Curious to hear others' thoughts?

@theungamer Yes, I watched highlights of it yesterday evening and read reactions to it on Twitter. Is there enough evidence for Trump to be tried and convicted by a jury? Not sure.

But damage has been done to him. Last night I got an image of Trump as a puffy doll whose arms and legs were hanging limp and askew, as if they had been broken. Oddly enough, he reminded me of the Magician in the Tarot, if the figure were a doll and had lost his powers.

Maybe the magician/carnival barker/aspiring authoritarian's spell is breaking.

@cc21 & @gbs, a lot of people are trolling the committee about Hutchinson's speaking of what others told her about 45 grabbing SS in the car.  Can't help but wonder if this is to push SS to come in and testify and leave themselves open for questions about ALL that was said in the car and elsewhere.

Yes, I was just looking again at some stuff on Twitter recapping the testimony. They were mentioning how focusing on the steering wheel incident to discredit all the testimony is just a red herring. The fact is that her testimony brought to light that T knew that the crowd was armed, wanted to have the MAGS (magnetometers) removed from screening the crowd, and still urged them to go to the Capitol.

I do wonder if they have further corroboration from the Secret Service on the car incident, or if they will have them testify directly.

@cc21 Oh, that's good.  The timing of her testimony is interesting as well.  The committee is not telling the pubic (and for good reason) who all has testified. Wrapping with the witness tampering evidence was a good closing.

Some of you may already know that social media platforms are actively censoring discussions around abortion access by deleting posts and suspending accounts.  As is evident on this forum, many of us want to help. A friend of mine in MD posted a semi-coded rant on it, which escaped the algorithms. I liked his vocabulary choices and chose to expand on them. Feel free to use these, pass them on, add to the list.  Keep it simple. Use them in DMs too, and then delete any old threads to stay under the radar.

Camping Trip = Going out of state to seek an abortion
Camp-Out = Welcoming women from other states into our homes if needed
Drive the Church Van = physically helping with transportation
Candy = abortion pills
Job Interview = appointment with doctor or clinic

Nolite te Bastardes Carborundorum!

Re: The Beast chokehold - She was inside the SUV so it's not hearsay and secret service agents don't need to testify because she is a direct witness to what happened inside the vehicle.

@laura-f

Actually, she was not in the limo - both your article link and this one below mention that she was told (by Oronato) about the president lunging at the driver. She was not a direct witness.

My point earlier was that folks were noting that as a way to try and discredit her testimony. But that doesn’t negate everything she *did* directly witness and testify to (conversations with Meadows, etc.)

@theungamer

I think that what the public is seeing in these hearings is a small sliver of what the DOJ and the committee knows.
