All - Requesting some protection, love, and light for all those federal workers that are facing troubled times. Someone extremely close to me is a civil servant with one of the organizations that is frequently in the news at the moment. Late afternoon on Tuesday, this person was repeatedly asked by the 20-something-year-olds on the Doge team to do something that the person did not have the legal authority to do. (The request/action was major and significant.) Because the action was illegal, this person recused themselves and was promptly cut off from all federal systems by Doge. (As a little background, civil servants must comply with a code of ethics and have very clear rules around what they can and cannot do depending on their role and what legal authority they have.) We don't know what will happen, but there is the strong risk that this person will be put on administrative leave and/or fired/RIF'd.
What is happening to everyone in Federal government now, including the person I mention above, is frightening for the whole country - and the implications are scary. But on a more personal level, we're talking about significant job loss among the federal workforce, with the strong likelihood that no severance will be given and backpay and vacation pay may be withheld. Yes, there are legal avenues that can be taken, but they may take years.
Any positivity and protection you can send to all involved is sincerely appreciated.

Hello everyone, It's been a while since my last post. My family and I and are in need of your thoughts and prayers.
My god-daughter is now living in a juvenile facility. In the past 2 1\2 years, her behaviour has been deteriorating gradually to a point where she needed to be removed from the family home. My brother and I could no longer keep her in the family home, she was violent emotionally and physically with first her father, then her sister and finally myself. She has had a very difficult life, and was abandoned by her mother. To be honest, we are not as white as snow, but a Saint would have gone crazy in this situation as well. Our visits with her are very difficult, We feel like we need to walk on eggshells every time we see her or else, she'll explode which happened yesterday. I have been asked to be the primary person for her outings since the relationship father-daughter is too deteriorated. Since her departure from our home, her younger sister has been doing so much better with her anxiety and has been blooming! We just want to see my god-daughter receive the help she needs and become the happy young woman she is meant to be.
We also need prayers for my parents. My mother has been suffering from lung cancer for the past decade or so. She is now in the palliative stage. She is still at home however, I don't think she has much longer to live. She has been getting weaker and weaker, catching all the bugs, and her doctor has suggested she be put on a waiting list to enter a palliative care facility (they do that when the prognostic is less than 4 months). In the meantime, I take her to all her doctor's appointments and palliative activities, trying my best to look after her while taking care of things at home. My father is slowly declining, he has heart diseases and his cognitive abilities are decreasing.
I finally ask for prayers for myself as well. I have my own issues and my health and energy is not the greatest. I am the primary caregiver for everyone. I just want to have the strength to do it all, but I know I don't have it. So I would like to have the wisdom in prioritizing everything while respecting my frontiers and limits, knowing how and when to say no. I always want to help everyone and do everything, but if I do that nothing will get done and everyone will suffer from it.
So I'm a little overwhelmed. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
So I'm a little overwhelmed.
No doubt!!
I will pray for strength and wisdom to be provided to you.
@bright-opal Oh, you are dealing with so much. Strength and perserverence to you!
@bright-opal sending you and your family loving, healing Reiki energy. Be at peace.
It is a monumental task being the glue and the backbone of the family. May you feel the reinforcing energies and strength we are sending you.
I pray that you will "put on your oxygen mask first" and care well for yourself, before attending to others. Doing so will help give you clarity on prioritizing the needs vs. wants of others. ❤️
@bright-opal You are dealing with a lot. I'm sending you prayers so that you are supported and guided in making the best decisions possible under very difficult circumstances, first for yourself and then for your mother and goddaughter. May you receive support as you have given it to others.
Oh my!
I’m glad you thought to reach out to us.
This must seem overwhelming to deal with and I am so sorry it’s hitting all at once.
You found a blessing in seeing light with your youngest niece which is wonderful news. So happy she is doing better.
Who sings for the songbird?
I will keep you in prayer. Take each day as it comes and try to bend in the wind whenever possible.
May more peaceful and love filled days come your way soon.
This afternoon, we were told my Mom should be going to a palliative home soon. We are blessed as it is the best one in the region, and it is free! It's by the Saint Lawrence River and the grounds are wonderful. And they offer great support for caregivers and the family as well. I may even have a little bed to stay by her side when needed. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Reading these replies brought tears to my eyes and gave me strength.
Hello @lovendures, can you tell me what you mean about "Who sings for the songbird"? I do have 2 birds and one of them can drive people crazy in the house since I keep their cage open. Or could it be something else?

That is wonderful news. Even though the reason for the move is saddening, your mother will get good care and you will have a burden lifted.
So about a month ago, I was told my department would be dissolving and we were to try and get placed within the organization for internal positions as well as seeking external ones. I interviewed for two positions already, learned that I did not get one but had a good interview this afternoon. However I’m in the DC area and work in government contracting so all of that is in flux of course. I’m trying to make sure I hurry up and find a job but it seems like the worst is yet to come with the current administration. I’m just asking for support because I’ve had a few days where I feel like I am at my wits end tbh.
@leebee I am so sorry to hear you are having to deal with job issues at a time like this. I am sending you a phalanx of work angels to keep you financially secure and employed.
@bright-opal It is a saying.
A songbird gives and gives of its song but who is there to give to sing for the songbird in return?
I recognize all the you are giving without the gift coming back to you. We all are in need of the songbird's song, even the songbird.
