@jeanne-mayell While the idea of 2029 seems “hopeful” the amount of suffering we will encounter may mean that some of us will never live to see the change. And that is very hard to think about.

@Danielle That's my feelings on the matter. It's a lot easier to find hope in that message when you're not one of the marginalized groups that's about to be targeted. I'm a deeply impoverished trans man living in rural Texas. These 'dark times' could very well kill me, my family, and so many loved ones in the process. Some vague allegory and platitudes about perseverance through strife doesn't help when I'm staring down a very literal threat to my existence.

@saokymo You will be in my thoughts…I will be asking the universe to provide a way for you to get out of Texas.

@Danielle Thank you, but I have no plans or desire to leave. This is my home; I've lived here all my life and I'm not about to roll over & let the bullies just have it.

Lots of folks want to believe the stereotype that Texas is a regressive conservative monolith outside the urban areas, when the reality is far more complex. My experience since coming out in 2019 has been overwhelmingly positive - even within my small town of 1200 people. I've also been very active in local politics & have helped build a non-profit organization that serves LGBTQ+ folks in the county, and has made great inroads for acceptance & education of our issues in the area.

I have to stay to continue that process, and support others like me who don't have the means or ability to leave.

I'm in the doom, dread, down, depressed, disgusted, downtrodden mentality still. My thoughts go to 'how the heck did this happen? Can't ppl SEE?!' ...Until the wealth gap is narrowed, folks won't be the beneficiaries of the promises of our forefathers.

@classictravelr  Thank you for sharing how you feel. Your pain is so great, so palpable, that I pray you can take care of yourself now, be gentle with yourself. Detach from the news now, and just do whatever helps you to feel comforted.  Over time, you will gain enough strength to find a path forward. May you then see the goodness that is still in this world, and that will help you to gain even more strength. The sooner we regain ourselves, the sooner we can start to work to stop the further erosion of our rights that TGF and supporters intend.

We have much work to do to resist the worst of their plans, and the sooner we get going, the stronger the resistance movement will be. .

You mentioned our forefathers.  Our forefathers risked their lives, as did hundreds of thousands during the Civil War, and subsequent wars. We now are seeing that every generation must step up and do the work needed to save our democracy.

Our forefathers did the best they could with the information they had at the time to pass along the rights they risked their lives for.  I don't think they  never expected they could freeze frame forever the freedoms they installed into the Constitution 300 years ago. Greed for money and power has always been a human trait. They knew that and worked to prevent it. They did a remarkable job, and there are still ways it could hold. But the system is antiquated and we have not done enough to bring it up to speed when we could have done so.  There are still safeguards in the Constitution, if we can mobilize now and fight to keep them in place. We need everyone to get involved, including you.

Our activism thread is a good place for us to jump in.

I did not realize it is already Saturday as I am on Winter Break. I think that it is a good thing I didn't remember  because I have been less inclined to fret over Monday's endoscopy.

Being put under is scary to me, but I am reminding myself how fortunate I am that they fit me in sooner and skipped the customary office visit chat based on the ENT report.

I am focused on having an accurate diagnosis and new treatment plan soon. This year my goal is to regain my health and enjoy being healthy every day, far beyond my wildest dreams.

This body deserves the peace and balance that I am calling into being with all things working together for my highest good. The joy of my voice restored completely will happen so I can  sjng

Prayers for the 30,000 plus people who had to evacuate their Los Angeles homes in the Pacific Palisades area.  I grew up in many different canyon areas in the LA area, and attended college in the canyon next door to this area.

There are dozens of abandoned cars on Sunset Blvd not far from  the beach where people had to flee on foot as flames came and traffic was stopped. Bulldozers had to move the cars to allow firefighters to move through that street.

Schools have been evacuated.  Many homes burnt. Firefighters were seen carrying some priceless items including photos out of homes about to burn.

*Side note, shout out to Kristin Crowley who is the L.A.  Fire Chief.  Nice to see a woman leading the firefighting efforts.

My friend Evangeline is going through a terrible rough patch. She is close to giving up.

Please, if you have any light to spare, think of my friend. She is really suffering in so many ways.

@lovendures Pasadena is also in trouble with a similar problem.  But just read fire breached Getty villa grounds, so spare some healing thoughts for security having to work in such conditions. I doubt they are paid enough.

North Santa Monica is being evacuated. My old High School is within walking distance to the evacuation zone.

My mom can see the flames and smoke from her home, she is not in danger right now and is  far enough away.  Her home is near Santa Monica but south in west  LA.

Her childhood home in Altadena is likely destroyed.

The flames look like a fire breathing dragon on steroids.

i believe my college  Alma mater  is now being evacuated.

My former HS became an evacuation location for a local middle school.

Homes  on the beach are engulfed in flames.

A Jewish temple and preschool in Altadena are engulfed in flames.

People are walking down from nearby hills to the beach with burns on their bodies.

Yes  the Getty grounds ( original museum location ) were burnt.

A separate fire burning in Pasadena.

New Fire in Sylmsr now too.

So at least four fires all around the La area out of control.

Gusts near 90 miles an hour in some places..

A few hours ago fire burning  5 football fields length of land in 30 seconds.

Aircraft are grounded due to high winds.

Blackouts through the area.

Apocalypse in LA.  No other way to describe it. Our community member @Andrewposey aka @thehappymedium has been watching it from downtown LA. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/los-angeles-wildfires-rage-uncontrolled-trumps-greenland-ambitions-mor-rcna186738

Sending healing and protection to all. So far, no casualties.
