Good evening! I'm hoping all those in the path of this Nor'easter fare well. We got some winds and a little rain, but the outer banks got some nasty swells, lots of wind, etc.
I have something going on here at the house. The whole house is down with respiratory infections (thanks to the baby-lol), so I'm a little off on picking up things. A girlfriend of mine gave me her thoughts, but she's only a few days post op, and still on pain meds, so I figured I'd throw it out here to give some of you something else to ponder besides the current state of affairs.
Last week the light in the baby's room went off by itself. Nothing major, could have been a glitch in the smart switch I thought. It came right back on when the switch was pressed. Then a few days later I had a plant crash to the floor from my plant shelf in the livingroom. I have cathederal ceilings that go from about 10' on the west side to 16' on the east side. The fireplace is on the south side, the door & windows facing the porch on the west, and the built in plant shelf (8' off the floor) on the north. I've had plants up there for decades, and never had a single issue-minus the weekly ladder climb to water. The shelf is over 2' wide, and the plants are in their containers, then housed in ceramic planters with no drainage so they don't weaken the shelf by leaking. The shelf is made of drywall. No one was in the room. This thing just took a header off the shelf. It hit the tv on its way down, left a leaf behind my great aunt's drawing which is over 100 years old, knocked over the hurricane lamp on the piano, knocking it to the ground without breaking it somehow. It crashed on the floor, landing squarely between the piano and the glass top coffee table without scratching or breaking anything but the ceramic pot. I threw cards, but got just a muddled response. I've since replanted the unharmed plant in a larger pot, got a new ceramic pot, and back on the shelf.
Then last night at around 10:30 pm, the baby is asleep, I'm in bed nearly asleep, my youngest is on the porch, daughter-in-law is watching TV in the livingroom. Crash. Woke me and startled DIL & the dogs. We search for the cause. In my laundry room, I have shelves above the washer & dryer (on separate walls). The shelves above the dryer have canvas storage crates containing various items. Some have flashlights, tape, lightbulbs, cleaning rags, lightbulbs, and the one that came flying off the shelf had my spare batteries (in case of hurricanes), furniture sliders, and a few odds and ends (including a baggie with the broken remains of a vase Monica had given me that I couldn't manage to throw out). There's no reason for this to have come off the shelf. It hasn't been moved in over a year since I last painted the laundry room. It's the heaviest of the cubes on the top shelf, and it's the one in the middle. There's' no signs of an animal that could have pushed it, and if there were, the lightbulb container would have been the first to go, I think.
It would be interesting if anyone picks up on anything. I bought this house after viewing a number of them in the neighborhood. The energy was just so warm and welcoming-unlike the others I saw. None of them had been preowned, they were all new construction. This one just had a good feeling. I still feel it, but something/someone is definately trying to get some attention.
@cindy I think someone/something wants your help. Possibly the same entity that is responsible for the good feeling in your house. Do you happen to know what was on the site (the exact site) of your house before it was built?
@cindy I agree with @ana that it is a connection from a life that lived there before your house was built. Someone definitely wants your attention. In creating a "ruckus" that causes no harm... you are now focused on what is happening in your "immediate environment" as health and weather matters are also getting your efforts to get everyone cared for.
A call to "hunker down" and "shelter" and "weather the storm" feeling to it as well as a "you are not alone, you are watched over and protected" vibe... letting you know "I am here for you"
@ana, @journeywithme2, I don't know who occupied this land or when. This area was natural before our development was put in in the late 90s. The development to the north of us went in in the 70's, and the one to our south in the early 80s. This 100 acres or so sat undeveloped until the late 90s, and there's no records I can search to see what was here before the owner who sold to the developers in 96. I do know that the lower portion of the county, (where I live) was inhabited by the Cape Fear Indians, and the Waccamaw Siouan tribes as early as 8000 BCE. They left by the early 1700s with settlers in the 1720s being able to count the handful of natives still living in the area as they moved in to settle. It's thought that fewer larger game remaining, and a receeding coastline were primary causes. With no weather service, I can't imagine hurricane season here without.
To non-empathetic folk, I can only imagine what the realtor thought as I moved from one house on my street to the next. When I walked into this one, I noted that it had a different feeling from the others-even tho it was smaller than I wanted. Same original plots of land, but this one felt different to me. It felt like home. It felt warm and welcoming. The others felt like empty new homes. I've been blessed that my youngest and their friends feel it too (without saying it or even consiously realizing). This house is where many came when they felt unsafe elsewhere. It just left me a little unsettled knowing heavy things were falling when I have a little one around who could get hurt.
My girlfriend (still on pain meds) felt my father around and bent out of shape from lack of attention. I can see that in my father, and he had a temper, so things like golf clubs flying after a bad shot were well known. So, I'll have to do a little more meditating. I wonder if it's a warning about one of the trees on the property not being able to withstand the next big storm, causing damage. Something to ponder.
Thank you ladies for your input.
As some may recall... I recently left an abusive 24/7 unpaid caregiver and more situation to move back to my old home which had been trashed by the occupants of the last 2.5 years. Simultaneously moving ,cleaning that home while cleaning out and working to repair this home to make it habitable ... I have to share some neat happenings.
I was washing dishes one night after supper and heard my ice maker on the poor old beat up 19 year old Amana side by side suddenly start up and start making ice again!!! It had not worked since 2018!!! I took that as a sign the house appreciated me coming "Home" and starting to repair and set it right again! Houses do not like being abandoned and unloved any more than other Energy/Entity does!!!
A bit of Serendipity for us to see and acknowledge the small miracles in each and every day even in the midst of chaos and current world Collective Conscious pain and fear. Life? Does go on and miracles are happening every where... we just have to notice them and be grateful for them!
