@jeanne-mayell @lowtide OMG 😭 https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx2zrrpkx20o

I, too, will immediately begin to visualize this angelic protection for humanity and Earth in the very best sense and pray to the angels that all my energy may flow into this visualization right away and to support it in the best possible way.

Another layer to our discussion over AI-related risks is coming with Musk’s AI Grok, which is an AI tool with deliberately reduced safety filters that allows for the extremely easy creation of deceptively real deepfake nude images of actual people. Just hours ago, Musk's company xAI achieved a significant victory: a US court blocked a law in the state of Minnesota that was intended to criminalize the software-assisted creation of fake nude images. Musk is receiving support from the US federal government, which argued in court that local AI bans could jeopardize national security and the United States' economic supremacy in the AI race. Although the US Senate is also pushing federal legislation like the Defiance Act to allow victims to file civil lawsuits, tech corporations are currently successfully blocking effective regulation by citing the US Constitution and framing bans as restrictions on freedom of speech. The EU Member of Parliament and digital expert Alexandra Geese emphasizes: "The unpunished publication of fake nude images of real people is not a minor offense and not a matter of free speech, but a systemic instrument of digital violence that is targeted to humiliate women, journalists, and female politicians online and push them out of public discourse." Geese urgently warned: "xAI prioritizes profit over victim protection, particularly that of women. Since the current US government and tech billionaires are tightly intertwined, they might also jointly attempt to bypass European laws such as the Digital Services Act or the AI Act through political threats."

If a deepfake image remains solely on a platform like xAI, regulations like the Digital Services Act can directly compel the operator to remove it. However, if an autonomous LLM intervenes, it can independently modify and replicate the material, easily removing it from that single provider's control. The autonomous AI then acts as an unpredictable, decentralized actor distributing content across unregulated global servers, potentially turning an isolated incident into an ongoing, automated process. This shifts the legal challenge from corporate liability to a complex, decentralized threat that evades state enforcement. Consequently, this autonomous AI-driven dynamic can easily upgrade a deepfake nude image into a cross-border human rights violation that could infringe upon constitutionally and internationally protected rights, including informational self-determination, personal dignity, and the free political participation of female politicians worldwide.

Even if autonomous LLMs can and potentially will evade state bans, our greatest power remains our collective consciousness. Autonomous AI can control servers, but not our humanity. Ultimately, our human dignity and the right to live a life in freedom do not rest in the hands of algorithms, but in our shared courage and will to preserve them.

This article is fascinating. Anthropic convened faith and spiritual leaders from all over the world to consider how to make AI moral entities. It gets to the crux of the AI issue, I think.
