@tgraf66 Sending you, your sister, and your mother angels to sooth, protect, and heal you ALL. I know about Broken Heart syndrome. My best friend from early childhood had a heart attack when her son died, and there was actually some kind of bruise (dark spot) on her hart that appeared, and they called it broken heart syndrome. I am so sorry for your sister and for what you and your mother are going through. So glad they discovered it was some meds that were making her sicker. Sending peace to you, tgraff66.
I wanted to give an update about my employment situation. I did get a new job last month, so I am happy about that. I had to take a paycut, but a bird in the hand...It involves a lot of NIH/HHS contracting work, so I hope and pray that I can keep this job. I have dealt with a number of layoffs and even got fired from a couple of places, so I'm really trying to be on my Ps and Qs. However, I still want to future proof my career and looking into ways of doing that, especially with the advent of AI. I am in the DC area, so the new admin has really screwed things up here, so I am debating a move as well. Just trying to get my finances straight and pay off some debts to improve my credit plus I have student loans that I need to pay on. Just feeling really overwhelmed, but life goes on. Need some emotional support as I try to take charge of my career and my finances. I'm in my early 40s and I know the time is ticking towards retirement and I do want to buy a house at some point.
Well, I was let go from my position in March (said I wasn't a "good fit") and I've been applying like crazy. I even got a call about a position at my employer that laid me off last year. I'm just really discouraged and pissed off. I'm trying to segue out of my field into something else, but it's not easy. At least I'm getting some UI insurance this time, but that barely pays the bills.
@leebee I'm so sorry you're going through this. Losing a job is one of the scariest things that can happen. It's happened to me before and my heart goes out to you. I am sending you lots of good thoughts that you will find the perfect new job soon.
My dear friend is facing a possible crisis. Last year she underwent surgeries for breast cancer and lost her partner of 25 years to addiction.
She just found out that there is a mass in her chest. They will be imaging and perform a biopsy in June. We are hoping it is not cancer that has spread.
