Update on friends vaccinated  husband with Covid-breakthrough.

More prayers needed!!

In the vaccine thread I spoke about my good friend who had to take her husband to the ER and after many negative tests he was indeed found to have Covid. ( You can read about it in the other thread).  It is a breakthrough case as he is fully vaccinated.

He spent Monday night through yesterday afternoon in the hospital where they treated his many leg and lung blood clots and worked to get his oxygen level back up in an ok range.  He was sent home yesterday as he had been doing better and also coughing less and has an oxygen machine at home.  His family inputs his readings to the hospital which monitors them.

Well this morning the hospital called and said to call 911 and get him in as his reading dropped to 87 on 5 liters.

So he is back in the hospital now.

She is very scared and upset.  They have been doing everything right and this downturn  is very hard on her emotionally.  He of course is not doing well.

Please keep them in your prayers.  Her 20 something year old son also has covid, fully vaccinated also,  but he has a much more mild case.  She has tested negative and feels fine.

In case any of you out there feel this virus is not going to bother you if you have been vaccinated, please think again.  Delta is really an ass kicker.  Wear a mask and don't take chances.

Actually my daughter and I saw my friend on  Sunday for a few hours, 90% of the time was spent outdoors but unmasked because we were outside.  I got the call about her husband being ill the next evening.  Fortunately she was not ill at the time we saw her and she remains healthy.

Re-think all interactions you are having with others please.  Even those who are vaccinated. I would do things differently now and it has only been a week.  Lots of things and information happen in a week with this virus.

You can put pressure on friends and relatives by telling them you will not interact with them unless they have been vaccinated. That is actually working for some people I know personally. It is a step.

Also, lobby your school district and state governments to mandate mask wearing, especially in anti-mask states.  Even if you don't have kids, your voice matters. Kids are also getting sick with this variant and your voice may make a difference.

Thank you!

Update again.

My friend's husband with covid-breakthrough has pneumonia.  He  is on his way home with 5 new medicines and will continue to be monitored.  He had a second Cat Scan this afternoon.  I believe his blot clots are continuing to dissolve so that is a positive.

@lovendures Thank you so much for sharing this information.  We all need to be aware and hyper vigilant again.  I hate that it’s come to this, but here we are, restricting our lives and interactions again.  We’ve started mask wearing again (seems like we hardly stopped) and are social distancing.  I’ve even decided to change hair stylists as my regular hair dresser refused to get vaccinated.  I cancelled my appointment with her and let the owner of the salon know I’m not comfortable coming into a business where the staff is not vaccinated.  We haven’t come this far to let our guard down.  I appreciate your sharing this sad news and will pray for your friend.  I’m so sorry.

I have been working with a gentleman, fully vaxed during his third week in a hospital. He is on bipap, not vent so far. I know four other people in his area with breakthrough but not hospitalized. Same in the Bay Area Ca. Fortunately, none here that I personally know are hospitalized just sinus like infection.

We had my brother's Celebration of Life event yesterday and it went very well.  Having completed that step towards closure, we are now beginning the monumental task of helping his wife with his belongings.  It is surreal being in his house. He had an extensive electronics lab, machine shop etc. and all this stuff is sitting there with lights blinking like it is waiting for its master to return.  He had passed out at his computer and everything is sitting as he left  it.  It's rather heartbreaking.  Our mom (Claire) and his widow (Ann) are holding up well--considering-- but could use some prayers.
