@jsr78

I have always felt Moscow Mitch would leave the senate within the next year or two. I feel his health may play a part, but I always thought it would truly be because his wife was in big legal trouble. Hmm the pieces seem to be falling into place. ? ciao Elaine and Mitch!

Tick tick tick tick.

Gov. Abbott, dude!!!

You are a disaster of your own making.  I don't think 2022 will be a kind year for you dude.  Might want to start packing now or just keep digging that hole.

The state legislators in my state of AZ are absolutely insane.  They are also charter and private school supporters.

I have no words for what bills they are attempting to pass which will shred the educational system.  Most have already passed one legislative branch   One is trying to undermine a voter approved education initiative passed 2 years ago.

SB1058 passed one branch so far and mandates teachers post ALL lesson plans/resources/materials for EVERY class, EVERY day and not allow ANY deviation for a whole YEAR in advance. This is destructive , idiotic and insane.

*Who plans lessen plans a whole year advanced?  Teachers have syllabuses posted  but lesson plans?  My daughter can barely create a weeks worth of lesson plans in advance and will alter what is not working to make it better for the next class.  AND why should a teacher post their lesson plans and resources online for anyone to read and review?  Omg!!  Who will still want to teach in AZ?

SB1400 passed one branch and  FORCE schools to give elective credit for private lessons or sport clubs. This has major equity implications and would likely lead to the elimination of music/fine arts/sports programs in many schools and their invaluable educators.

SB1783 passed one branch and allows an alternative business tax that would AVOID the Prop208 voter approved surcharge for education. Estimated to deprive our schools and children of ~527M ANNUALLY.

Abbutt knows who to blame.  Teenage immigrant welfare mothers on drugs!  Here's the Austin Lounge Lizards, breaking it down for us:

https://youtu.be/SHnjAjZo2ck

It's been five years since we had a raise in pay
And they disallowed my business lunches today
Somebody must have changed the rules of the game
So we've found a convenient scapegoat we can blame
It's those teenage immigrant welfare mothers on drugs
(They're too lazy to work)
Teenage immigrant welfare mothers on drugs
(They're stealing our jobs)
Somebody ran this country deep into debt
I called up Congress, but nobody's called back yet
Sometimes I get so mad I can't think straight
We're looking for relief and it feels so great to hate
All those teenage immigrant welfare mothers on drugs
(They're on the Dole)
Teenage immigrant welfare mothers on drugs
(They're speaking espanol)
Who's to blame for the things we're so angry about?
Who's to blame for uprisings, downsizings, and the drought?
Who's to blame for the end of the good old days?
Who's to blame for that backwards-cap-wearing craze?
It's those teenage immigrant welfare mothers on drugs
(Let's build a thousand-mile fence)
Teenage immigrant welfare mothers on drugs
(It's just common sense)
Teenage immigrant welfare mothers on drugs
(Like the Berlin Wall)
Teenage immigrant welfare mothers on drugs
(Land mines and all!)
Teenage immigrant welfare mothers on drugs

Hi All, I so much appreciate and enjoy your community and conversations. I hope no one minds if I pop in on the light/dark discussion. I received this and felt strongly urged to share it here.

Do not despair what you cannot see. You are as a star in the night sky. You cannot see the distance your light may shine or who it may touch. Be at peace in knowing that for those whom it touches, it may well be as the first distant star lighting in their sky. Take comfort that this gift may be the most they can accept in this moment. Be patient with this knowing. Dawn comes in its time with a glimmer of first light. Creation unfolds. Love and light are eternal creation, and cannot be diminished. Love can only be turned away from for a time. You share your bravery with those who need it most.

Today is a hopeful day in which we turned a little bit more toward the light. The passage of the American Rescue Package and the confirmation of Judge Merrick Garland to head our DOJ will both help right the ship of state. It’s a proud moment. A lot of Americans are going to benefit greatly from today’s events.

Yesterday I skipped lunch and walked behind my house.  There's a massive open area with a road that was set up to be a subdivision when we first moved out here - but the developer didn't realize that a subdivision in the middle of nowhere wasn't very appealing.  It's been our biking, walking, running trail for 15 years.

The snow is completely gone and as the chocolate lab and I wandered the newly reclaimed (from the snow) territory, I felt something that's a little hard to describe.  The earth was kind of reaching out to me (this may be what I have been feeling the last few weeks, this incredible need to be outside) - there was an excitement coming from it I've never sensed from it before (though I've never looked for it before) it felt like the land was coming out of it's yearly hibernation for "me" - but it couldn't be for me alone, probably for everyone to enjoy.

I fear this is making zero sense but it's in the Great Turning thread because it feels like the earth is waking up from winter and joining in delayed excitement for what we've all felt the last two months.

Am I making any sense at all?
