It showed up in my Twitter news feed.
Yeah, it's been raging on Twitter all day. Pretty much everyone I follow has retweeted it multiple times. I came in here expecting to find a discussion of it and was shocked not to see it here. When I checked the news outlets an hour ago, all had it on the front page near the top, except for NBC. I'm just relieved he had the courage to say it.
Exactly. And that long thread he posted ... about 10-12 tweets, was awesome. I was so bummed out last night and this totally made my day. I keep hoping this will be enough to give Ds the spine to push harder to get Mueller and his team's testimony. It was beyond what I could've hoped for. All the former Rs, all the Ds, Tribe, etc were praising him. But you know the blowback is coming. I wonder if he's prepared for Fox's Sunday blitz and the T tweetstorm we know is coming.
I hope he continues to speak up, especially within his own party. I’m sure there will be so many attacking him. Really wish the dems will fight back harder on this administration.

Perhaps there is good reason for Dem leadership to NOT do something as of yet. Maybe Pelosi felt that there were Republicans out there who had been upset but needed time to "defect" or at least speak out against Trump. . If it opposition comes from THEM (Republicans) first, it has a chance to hold more validity with Republican voters. with being able to build a bridge with some joint members of congress, to have SOME ability to have a more united front across party lines when things go to H*ll and a band basket.
One can HOPE there is a good reason.
I am as frustrated as anyone as to the lack of action from the Dems. however, the House can impeach but the Senate has to remove and we all know Mitch will move heaven and earth to not remove the mango moron. I believe Mueller will testify this summer, hopefully sooner than later, and the whole house of cards will falldown. I truely have faith in Mueller, I have since i saw the first pic of him. The pic spoke to me of an honest and moral man. I believe he is deeply disturbed by what Barr did and he will not show loyalty to the administration when he testifies. I believe the administration suspects this and are relying on Barr to make things happen their way. I believe he has tried to persuade Mueller and then probably threatened him. Mueller is staying outwardly calm but inside he is ready to bring these jerks down. trum mightmake it t o 2020 but I believe if he does he will have a stagnent presidency. Nothing he does will stick.
Impeachment is a final action in and of itself. Everyone complains that the American people don't know what happened. Impeachment is the only way to fully educate the people in a clear cut, comprehensive fashion. It is a trial with witnesses and evidence and is overseen by Chief Justice Roberts. It doesn't matter a bit if the Senate convicts because it has the ability to shift the tide of public opinion which matters for 2020. I believe this is nothing but fear and it's the same fear that has had mixed results for the last 20 yrs. Everyone is raving about Pelosi's skill. I don't agree although I supported her for speaker. I can name countless things she and Dem leadership has messed up as political arguments the last 20 yrs. Esp in 2004 (expecting everyone to be so offended over Bush that Kerry would be a shoo in) and 2010 (when they dropped the ball on the R RedMap redistricting plan).
You don't see Dems arguing they shouldn't pass substantive bills just because Mitch won't pass them in the Senate. Either both are good for showing what we stand for (impeachment, rule of law, separation of powers and passing bills) or both are wastes of time.
This is just plain fear in my view. I think the Ds made much more progress when they were bold. They've become timid post-Bill Clinton and it's led to many purple states in 2000 turning bright red now. The times we've won the presidency is when we've been bold and inspiring.
I agree that Mueller is an honest and moral man. When I tune into him, I emotionally sense distress and anger. Mueller will NOT remain silent. I have no idea how specifically that might play out, other than through his testimony. But I feel that in my bones.
I am exasperated by the Dems in Congress. They need a better message by fighting tough and dirty. The Dems are shrinking from doing certain things because it might make people mad at them. They must be seen leading. I also think that televised testimony and/or tapes will make a difference. People don’t read that thoroughly these days – either lack of time, and/or short attention spans. But hearing and seeing someone speak the truth can make people sit up and take notice.
I read something this morning that has stayed with me. By acting out of our emotions (e.g., anger, pain, fear, etc.), we are feeding our life energy into whatever we are focused on. Another way of saying it is, whatever we focus on, grows. So acting out of these emotions might really have the opposite effect of what we are intending. We want the current political situation to collapse, not give it more power. To create the change we want, we need to move into our hearts, where we are able to access an open space for creation.
That rings true for me, and yet I have some ambivalence about it. Easier said than done. It feels incomplete – airy fairy, even. I guess I'm not that evolved. And I guess I am just too damn mad about what’s happening in our country. What is wrong with anger being a motivating force? As long as it’s used constructively. I want to see some action. What do we do? Because there’s so much coming at us, it’s hard to keep up. And it’s a series of horrors. So what do we focus on first? Does it begin with small changes, small successes?
I think of the movie, “Shawshank Redemption,” where Andy takes 19 years to tunnel his way to freedom – and in the end, exposes evidence of the corruption and murders at Shawshank prison to a local newspaper. The antagonist ends up shooting himself as the police are closing in. So, like Andy, do we chip away at it, until we expose the core, the ugly truth?
I do believe that in time our country will change for the better. But I’m a baby boomer senior, and I don’t want to have to wait 19 years (or 10 or even 5). I’d like to be on this earth to see the positive transformation. I may, I may not. One more thing I have no control over.
My husband frequently says to me, “it will take the women to save this country.” Certainly the female energy. And female consciousness has been rising. That’s why women are being savagely targeted now. Do these Neanderthal clowns honestly think they can keep women down? They’re living in a fool’s paradise.
