Yesterday, news surfaced (Rachel Madow and the Guardian) that a long time aide to Nunes sent two aides to the House Intelligence Committee to the UK offices of the UK former spy Christopher Steele. You may recall that Nunes is the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee who secretly rushed over to the White House last March to tip off the President about intelligence gathering that had been done on him. His co-chair, Adam Schiff (D) was alarmed and said that Nunes was undermining their committee's work. Nunes made statements to the press on the White House lawn trying to explain his activities. He looked like he was lying and covering up.
Then another odd and suspicious thing happened yesterday when two aides to the Committee showed up at Steele's offices without anyone else on the Committee knowing about the trip. You may recall that Christopher Steele is the former UK spy, Kremlin specialist, who investigated Trump early last year when he realized Trump could be president. At great risk to his own life, Steele, gathered intelligence from spies he's known throughout the world who might have knowledge of the Russian -Trump relationship . He put together a dossier showing that the Kremlin had been grooming Trump for the presidency since 2004. Several undercover agents were murdered after the dossier surfaced in the news. Unfortunately the FBI did not act on the dossier, even though Steele put it in their hands well before the election. Then MotherJones published it, and Steele was exposed. He had to go underground for a while to protect himself. But as I said several others involved in the dossier were not so lucky.
So why was Nunes sending staff to Steele's offices without telling other members of the House Intelligence Committee? What were they hoping to find there? And why does Nunes risk his political career to protect Trump?
This sounds straight out of House of Cards with the Nune's aide playing Doug Stamper.
That is so amazing, Jeanne, my previous Mad Magazine "Spy vs Spy" characters are flashing at me like a flickering black and white television set airing cold war movies mixed with "The Twilight Zone." The truth is odder than fiction. In fact the words Science Fiction and the whole oxymoronic world we are living in has me teetering on the edge of belief and disbelief. We really are in a strange new world of blending dualities/polarities and some massive paradigm shift between dimensional possibilities. In these speeded up times the possibilities truly are endless.
