No dizziness, no fainting, no rashes, no anaphylaxis. Nothing. We walked around checking on people, and it was actually a fun day. Sometimes someone would just be zoning out and I'd say "You ok? Zoning out or feeling something weird?" The answer to a person was "Just zoning out" and I'd say "Zone away, then"
We also were responsible for checking time stamps on paperwork that everyone gets so they know when they can leave. Again, it was funny. People were so timid about it - quite a few people stayed too long, and on viewing their time stamps I told them "You've overstayed your welcome! Get out! Fly! Be Free and Well!"
It was so nice to interact with strangers and be out of the house for a whole day. I highly recommend volunteering at a vax site if you have the chance. It was a very upbeat atmosphere filled with hope and gratitude, and it made us see that there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. Everyone was thanking the volunteers, from healthcare org staff to the other vax recipients.
We were lucky that the healthcare org we volunteered with went out of its way to vaccinate ALL the volunteers on every shift, they didn't make us wait til end of day either. Even volunteers in their 20s were able to get their first shot.Found out that on Sunday over 1 million Americans got vaccinated. The president's new daily goal is 1.5 million. We can do this, we just need more supply.

The Chinese government is actively spreading those rumors because they want to appear as a "modern society" and they don't want Westerners looking down on them for continuing to butcher endangered wildlife for folk medicine and cuisine. They don't want to shut down their wet nor black markets for these products, it's too lucrative.
I have been feeling vaccine FOMO for a little while, but got news from central office of my school district today - at 3:50 p.m. on Friday I’ll be getting a dose of Pfizer at our district health department.
This comes on the heels of my boss admitting that I was right, and all of us would probably be finishing the school year from home. (I’ve been home since end of October) - so there was definitely some depression setting in. But, part of my job is project management and every good Gannt chart needs some milestones, so I’m taking my Friday “Fauci Ouchie” as the first damn milestone to getting back into a normal school year this September!

I am also glad you had a chance to interact with others again. Perhaps you will be able to do more volunteering in the future, you would make the vaccination process fun for everyone.

I'm a comedian at heart, so I tried to make it as fun as possible, telling people "Welcome to shot jail, please sit wherever you like, we'll spring you in 15 minutes. Maybe."
I gave some of the older sportier dudes a baseball ref style "You're outta here!" as I checked their departure times. Got a few chuckles.
Also, the "thumbs up" sign is very international, so for folx who don't speak any of the languages I do, it was a good way to communicate effectively to ask if they were ok and to get an answer.
Stuff like that. The mood wasn't heavy, but no harm in lightening things up a bit more.
If you get an opportunity to volunteer at a vax site (and get a shot) I recommend it highly.
Darling Laura, woohoo vaccines! My husband and I got the first dose Pfizer vaccine Monday. We had sore arms for 24 hours. No big deal. I have family members who are dilly dallying around even though they are currently eligible for the vaccine. I’ve had to take a good look at myself and my personality. I would crawl over broken glass for this vaccine.
We had our shots at our local hospital. It was well organized and there was no waiting in line. Because I had severe vaccine reactions before, I had to wait the 30 minutes of observation. Yet, nada. No anaphylactic shock. In fact, the staff said they hadn’t seen any severe reactions at all. Cool, eh?

My only disappointment was that I wanted the Moderna version because of Dolly Parton's financial contributions to get it developed, and also because from what I understand, it is slightly stronger. But no complaints, the Pfizer one is Pfine.

It would be nice if grocery workers, who have to come in contact with scores of people each day AND deal with some of the magatudes, were higher up on the receiving scale and not put in the same category as the general public. Grocery workers are not disposable. They have lives and families. I am really pissed.

I don't know one way or another if this was created in a lab or through those markets, (the markets are terrible and could definitely have contributed to this) but apparently these two experts/scientists (Heather Heying and Bret Weinstein) felt very strongly in a scientific way that it was created in a lab (they stated 90% they felt this way). I reserve judgement one way or another about it, however, I think it would be kinder to have said "I Personally do not think the virus escaped from a lab..." since we all have our own opinions and everyone is entitled to them.

(Heather Heying and Bret Weinstein) who feel the Astrazenica one was the one THEY would prefer. Reason being, it uses the old style of using the virus (adino virus) that we have history with. The mrna one uses nano particles. They both target the virus the same way, it's just that one uses a system our bodies have been used to and studied for years. They both also feel strongly that this covid 19 virus was created in a lab in Wuhan doing gain of function research. The interview with these scientists is in the link below. @laura-f. Is that your personal intuitive opinion? Or is it based on intel, and if the latter, whose intel? I’m with you about the animal cruelty but would like to know The difference between someone’s intuitive feelings and some evidence.
@laura-f, I agree with 100% and congrats on the vaccine;-) Hope it will protect you well and let's you live life to the fullest once more!
And indeed, let's leave conspiracy theories behind with the 45th president and go with science on this one. Wet markets are a scourge, but so is the mass holocaust of animals in western society. Many diseases have come out the meat industry. The world would be a better place with more plant eaters.

First round down! So far no side effects (I’m tired but I was up early and had my kids home all day so I don’t know if it was Pfizer or chasing the twins)
I got my 2nd Pfizer shot yesterday at 11am. I was good all day and then I was up tossing and turning all night, with a sore arm and spent most of today tired and with a slight headache and probably a low-grade fever. 36 hours later I feel fine again. Overall, it wasn't that bad. The nurse yesterday told me she got the Moderna vaccine and she had a 105 fever for 5 days. Kinda feeling lucky that I got the Pfizer instead of the Moderna.
I love all the posts about getting your vaccinations. Awesome to see some already on their second dose. Yikes with the nurse and a temp of 105...that is darn high.
@theredone I had the same experience with my second shot. The next day I had a weird headache, exhaustion, and felt cold. My arm wasn’t as sore as after the first shot and it all went away by the following day
Another datapoint on vaccine reactions:
My 93 year old mom got her 2nd Pfizer shot yesterday. She had even less of a reaction than to the first shot. She says her arm is sore around the site of the shot but the pain isn't radiating to the rest of her arm like before, and, unlike before, she hasn't had any extra fatigue.
She is in the "independent living" section of a retirement community. For nearly a year now, they've been mostly restricted to having meals brought to their apartments instead of going to the communal dining room. That's hard on old people who don't get out much anyway. But now that most of the population has been vaccinated, the dining facilities will be opened up again. That's going to make for a lot of happy old folks.
I am so happy that my mom, who will be 89 on Monday got her first shot last week. My aunts also. I feels like a miracle.
Once again being in the great scum pond that is Kentucky has reared it's ugly head. I am 69 and a cancer and empazema survivor. The CDC classifies me as high risk, the state of Ky has me in category 3 which is one step up from healthy teens! At first they were saying we wouldbe elegible Feb 1. Now they are "hoping" tobe able to start our group sometime in April or May. I am so tired of seeing post on Facebook from "life coaches" who have no medical background but for some reason are classified as "essential medical personel" This sucks. Once again the state government of Ky has screwed us. I don't think they realize that my age group probably pays more in taxes, especially peoperty taxes, than these 20 something life coaches! Oh well that is my rant for the day. If I get vaccinated or not is not up to me.
