Yes. The purpose of a vaccine is to safely expose you to the virus so that your body builds antibodies and specialized t cells to respond to it the next time you come in contact with that particular virus. If you have had covid, you've been exposed to it amd there is literally nothing a vaccine can do for you that hasn't happened already.
If, down the road, it is shown that a 2nd exposure can give you strengthened immune responses going forward, then maybe they will get a booster, but as of right now, its just a complete waste of a vaccine. Frankly, I am hoping that people are given required antibody/t cell tests before being given the vaccine since it will be in short supply at the start.
The reinfection issues go back to what I said earlier about me having chicken pox more than one, and are why vaccines are never 100% effective. Some immune systems don't "remember" everything and those are the people getting bad cases the second time. From a biological viewpoint, all the vaccines do is "give you covid" without you having to risk getting really sick from it. If you've had it, and get it again, you would've gotten it again with the vaccine anyway.
One caveat is that law of averages says that there have been people to test positive and have not been infected-just having it in their nasal cavity and not an actual infection. Also there are going to be false positives as well from various issues. That is why I am hoping for antibody tests since some asymptomatic cases that were positive tests we not true infections and they are not immunologically exposed to it yet even though they think they are.
@isabelleYes, she did and regretted it very soon after. She won't do that again! I agree we all have to be very aware of how to deal with our health in a good way. She's also compromised because she has Hepatitis C. Just glad she pulled through!!
Just heard Bell's palsy is a possible side effect of both Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. Apparently 3 Moderna and 4 Pfizer vaccine recipients got it out of the roughly 75000 total. I wouldnt say its something to be concerned about with the small numbers(0.01% or 1 in 10,000) but its something to be aware of.
Thank you for posting this. I have not had time to research this yet today and wanted to get it out there as something to watch for asap for anyone getting the vaccine early. What I had seen was from the CDC stating 7 in vaccine group and 1 in placebo group, so my first assumption was it is something in the serum that could trigger a reaction, albeit rare and not a big concern at all either way.
I will look more into the data more but first I have my own covid issues to deal with. The mother of our foster twins has had covid for over a week and attended 3 visits with the kids without telling anyone she was positive or that she was even tested/symptomatic. I found out 15 mins after a visit today. At that point, my logical brain shut off and I went on the typical "parent with someone endangering my kids" emotional rampage and I have stayed there for the better part of the afternoon and evening. Once I regain my sanity and after our covid tests come back, I will be in a much better position to think rationally again.
Oh my...very much hope that everyone stays healthy and uninfected in your family. I take it their bio mother knew she was infected and chose to visit anyway? If so, that is mind-bogglingly irresponsible.
Yes. Actually now I'm finding out it was both parents that knew they were infected and exposed the kids anyway. To keep from having a stress induced stroke from all of this today(lol kinda), I just keep focused on the bright side. The kids should never be allowed back with their parents for happenings long before today and we are in the middle of a court battle to terminate their parental rights. It should've been over months ago but covid kept delaying the trial. It's now scheduled for mid Feb. This should seal the outcome and their case worker now has sturdy grounds to stop visitation completely-something Ive been advocating for for over a year.
