@journeywithme2 thank you!  And right back at you and everyone.  I'm a huge hugger.   It's just a good way (for me) to express hello, goodbye, I'm happy, let's have coffee, whatever.   And I miss it terribly.  Glad you all get me.  We will all be able to hug again, maybe when the air is clean over the white house and goodness and light dwells there again.  Love & Hugs y'all!

@michele-b We do the same thing!   Hug from a distance.  And I totally kiss over facetime :)   It's good to see their sweet faces until I can be with them again.   And we will, I'm counting on it.  x0x0x0x0

@michele-b  Oh yes!!! and a BIG air hug to you!!! The way I air hug... I wrap my arms around myself and squeeze tight while I twist side to side then open arms wide to "send" the hug energy out to the recipients.  Much Light and Love....all of you are always in my prayers ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

@unk-p

I'm glad that someone's speaking up for spontaneous human contact. It bothers me when I see people talking about how the handshake might be dead. Ultimately, I do think this whole experience will make a lot of us want to be closer.

What I dislike the most is that because I rely on passive lipreading, masks make it harder for me to understand what people are saying, which makes me feel even more isolated. I'd like to try out your practice of meeting at least 1 new person per day (when it's not so fraught). How did you go about doing it before COVID?

@journeywithme2

Bless you! Your fabulous air hug almost bowled me over with loving enthusiasm ???

That's actually how I air hug too but my 5 year old granddaughter does the O at me then I send that one back.

Hugs and kisses are so dear and so meaningful and loving even without contact.  But hanging on and hugging is the best. Big hug!!!

And @coyote if any of us ever meet you we will all be proud to shake, clasp, or do a secret hand signal in any way, shape or form to meet you.

Until then we send you air hugs, blow kisses, send caring energies and best wishes always to you with great personal,  group, and tribal caring and  love!

@unk-p, I'm just catching up with reading the posts. Our local farmers market opened up about six weeks later than usual, with everyone social distancing and wearing masks.  On that first day I felt very grateful and  happy to be there, and to see that so many of last year's vendors had returned.  As I was navigating my way around the market, I suddenly heard this very familiar, booming voice call out my name.  It was our  gregarious, funny, generous Aussie friend who owns the juice bar.  I laughed out loud, ran over to his booth, and we both spontaneously hugged each other.  Although we were both wearing masks, I spent a few minutes afterwards doubting my actions.  Wasn't that reckless?  How could you be so stupid?  I eventually got bored with the self-flagellation and absolved myself for being human, praying that all would be well.

I feel the way you do, Unk-p -- I'm a hugger and often enjoy meeting new people.  I am an introvert and sometimes shy depending on the situation, but a few years ago, I made a concerted effort to connect with strangers.  I started with eye contact, a smile and a hello.  I found it easiest to converse with someone inside of a store, especially if we were both lingering.  A few people were initially uncomfortable with it, but my  experiences have generally been very rewarding.  And you never know where it might lead.  These interactions have often lifted me up, and it's been especially rewarding when occasionally my small gesture of connection has lifted up the other person as well.

After watching the DNC this week, it occurred to me that these restrictions would be much more tolerable if we had a president who was genuinely decent, caring and kind.  I don't want to minimize the importance of physical contact, but can you imagine how comforted we would all feel if the person in charge really cared about our welfare?  The healing power of that energy?  We're living in such darkness and are starved on so many levels.  That was brought home to me when I watched this week's convention.

My daily prayer is after we wake up from this nightmare and rebuild what's left of our country, we will become a much kinder, generous, accepting society.

@journeywithme2, I'm praying daily for your protection.  I'm very fortunate to be living in an area where I'm not surrounded by people who have drunk the Koolaid.  I don't know if I could handle it with the grace and courage that you are demonstrating on a daily basis.

God bless you and keep you strong, safe, and at peace.

@deetoo  Big hugs and Light and Love and Thank You ... I appreciate and receive all prayers and support. Today I have unplugged somewhat from media and am playing the Eagles and Journey way too loud as I clean house and craft a red sauce for my spaghetti supper tonight. These things .... keep me sane. ❤️

'Instant Coffee' COVID-19 Tests Could Be the Answer to Reopening the U.S. - Scientific American

"Daily or near-daily testing could be the key to opening our society, and that comes down to making the tests widely available and affordable. If you had the option to test yourself in the morning by spitting into a tube (or swabbing your nose) and waiting 15 minutes for the results, and if it cost you no more than a couple of dollars, wouldn’t you jump at that chance?"

@baba

I remember you got the number 250,000 and I fervently prayed that you were mistaken. Now I saw an estimate of 300 Thousand +++. Now I am praying you were right. It is horrifying to see images of covid clusters and super spreader events. Feel like I see their skeletons superimposed. Sometimes being psychic and a medium is a real drag.

My heart is in my throat. It's enormously overwhelming. Regretting my political video addiction.

Still I feel very hopeful. The little boy who stutters was so uplifting.

@jsr78

Thank you SO much for sharing these wonderful videos with all their information/explanations. So valuable in this testing methods and means debate. Loved the part that school children could basically self test every day to determine if they needed to stay home for other's sakes as well as their own.

After nearly six months of Covid, people might want to revisit how to wash their hands.  I know that I've gotten lax.

Attached is a resource website that a nurse sent me that shows nursing assistants how to wash their hands:

@tgraf66 Nice post! I've also read that the plague may have caused the shift from feudal society to a more humanitarian enlightened society. This article compares the inequalities of the 13th century Middle Ages to today's world and discusses the possible shifts in inequality that Covid-19 could create for the better.

@jeanne-mayell

This topic has come up for discussion before on this thread. Yes, pandemics in general tend to cause phase shifts in human society, and the Black Death did help end feudalism. COVID could end market capitalism as we know it. See this essay:

The Black Death Killed Feudalism. What does COVID-19 Mean for Capitalism?

I am at a loss a for words as I just found out ASU refuses to release data on how many students and staff have Covid-19 to the general public.  This means students, staff, parents and journalists are being kept in the dark.    They also will not release data on where any infections might have come from.  So, if a dorm has an outbreak, nobody will know.  If a school library is associated with one everyone is in the dark.  Party off campus associated with one?  No info.   They claim it is a privacy issue however other universities in Arizona and across the nation are releasing those numbers.

Privacy?  How is THAT a privacy issue.  Nobody is asking WHO ?  We would like to know how many and where?

@lovendures I so agree with you. It is a public health issue, not a privacy issue.

@lovendures, that's absurd!  Is there any recourse, perhaps legally?

A Judge in Florida said it’s unconstitutional to order the schools to open during a pandemic. This is a result from lawsuit brought on by the teachers union and Orlando.

Judge said it disregard safety. Denies school boards to make decisions and also only giving funding on approved plans for reopening
