Okay, some good news on the political front, albeit at the mini-level. Last night at Town Meeting, some of my friends were trying to pass a proposal to retrofit our antiquated, maudlin 120 year old Town Hall with a totally electric carbon-free heating system.

This mansion, which is straight out of Citizen Kane (see photo), was built by a railroad magnate who would probably side with the Republicans and the fossil fuel magnates if he were alive today.  But tough bunnies, Horatio, (yes his name is Horatio),  because progressives have taken over the town.

It was a long fight that went on for hours while a gang of well-organized Repubs tried to block the measure. But in the end the progressives won the day.  We friggin won.

And tonight we passed carbon emissions goals for the town that put us on course for zero carbon by a certain date that I don't want to say.

Why is this so good?  Because there's a domino affect. Hundreds of little baby towns going zero carbon like dominos. Take that, Horatio.

Does this building look like it is zero carbon emissions?

It is a lovely mini castle...with a clock.  It is beautiful.

Nope, doesn't look remotely eco friendly to me.  Likely heated with oil or steam or fireplaces.

Yay for zero carbon!  Good Job Jeanne! Really happy for you!

@lovendures LOL.  Nope doesn't look remotely eco friendly, does it? Growing up here I always thought it looked heavy, a little creepy.  But now with zero carbon, it's  starting to look like a fairy castle.

Today I am headed for the  Revolving Rooftop Lounge in need of a social luncheon.     I invite anyone to this luncheon who wants to discuss the topic at hand.

And what subject shall we discuss over this luncheon you ask?

Oh, we are here to discuss Selena Montgomery.

Who is Selena Montgomery you ask?

Oh, she is very well know.  Very FAMOUS?

Famous you ask? You've never heard of her?

Well, that's because Selena Montgomery is her suede name. One she used 20 years  ago before she was famous.

(I will let you think on that for a moment while I take a bite of my lobster roll right now and savor it.  If I am going to go out to lunch after 14 months of avoiding restaurants, I am getting a very large lobster roll on freshly baked bread, a bowl of creamy clam chowder and a lovely Cape Cod Salad. Apparently I've been craving New England comfort food for over a year.)

Ok, here is a hint.  While I must be visiting some New England themed Revolving Rooftop Lounge, this famous woman would most likely be enjoying her own luncheon in a southern city and the topic of conversation would be voter suppression.  Ah heck, it would likely be a fundraising luncheon for her as well.

(Ok, this lobster roll has HUGE pieces of lobster and is toasted with warm butter. I think I am in heaven. And there is BACON in my salad!  I love New England!)

Need another hint?

She is a romance novelist.

Her first three books, originally printed about 20 years ago under the nom de plume Selena Montgomery, will be reissued in 2022 by the publisher Berkley, an imprint of Penguin Random House.

"As my first novels, they remain incredibly special to me," said XXX in a statement. "The characters and their adventures are what I'd wished to read as a young Black woman — stories that showcase women of color as nuanced, determined, and exciting."

So, have you figured out who we are discussing yet?

( You know, I just discovered lobster roll bread with melted butter is perfect to sop up any remaining clam chowder left in my bowl.)

Yep!

That would be the very famous and amazing Stacey Abrams!

Who knew right?

Top that Danielle Steel, Diana Gabaldon and Jayne Austen!

(I should never have written this post.  I am now craving New England food and I don't live anywhere near New England.  I don't even live near an ocean.  Best I can do is track down the "Lobster Lady" food truck in AZ and then find a "lake" and...  No wait, their website says they leave AZ for Maine in April each year to avoid the heat. Apparently I must now wait until NOVEMBER when they are due to return!  This is a very sad day indeed.)

Well, not so sad for Stacey Abrams. I think she is going to make a killing on the reissue of her first 3 novels, don't you?

Good for her!

@lovendures. Wow.  Who would have known her talent would extend that far?  These will be so fun to read! It fits her personality too.  You can just feel that she has perspective about the world and her resting face is always smiling.  Okay, I'm ordering the lobster roll.

Topic starter

@lovendures  i love love love Stacy Abrams, but have not read her books.  I have heard two different people say that she is the reincarnation of George Washington, and since then, i can't unsee it, lol.  A really beautiful George Washington with a smile as warm as the sun!

ps- i would think twice about eating lobster in the middle of a desert- just sayin'.   Wait, is it "desert" or "dessert"?  Either way, i wouldn't want lobster in it.   Think i will just have a Long Island Iced Tea ?

@lovendures I don’t know if you know this but Stacy Abram just published a legal  thriller titled “ While Justice Sleeps”. Here is an article about her new book and why she is not using a pen name any longer.

@jeanne-mayell. Hmmmm, this looks like Horatio built a money pit.  It will be interesting to see how this can be converted to zero carbon emissions.
