@jeanne-mayell @deetoo yall's posts in the other thread (about Florida going blue) got me thinking about serving blue cocktails at the Election Day party. So i did a quick search and found this one. It sounds perfect. It's called the Adios, M-----F-----
It contains gin, rum, tequila, vodka, blue caracao, with a splash of lemon lime. It's like a blue Long Island Iced Tea.
Cheers!
I made a decadent homemade Devils Food Cake with peanut butter frosting drizzled with melted semi-sweet chocolate chips and then sprinkled with chopped nuts.
I felt like celebrating the women, the men who love us and stand up for us, the young people getting involved and everyone turning out for the vote. I feel 🌊💙🌊 everywhere.
@unk-p I have been planing my election night menu. That was not on my radar but it is never too late to add it right?
@journeywithme2, I want some of that cake! Looks so yummy. If my senior memory serves me correctly, I believe you once shared some other wonderful homemade dishes with us.
@deetoo thank you for remembering... yes... we did do a series of holiday dishes and comfort foods one time! Lots of good recipes were shared. I wish you lived nearby I would definitely give you some!!! I have given out "Halloween cake" to my neighbors and friends this afternoon because I surely did not need to eat all of that by myself!!!
@JourneyWithMe2, it's funny what we remember. Sometimes it's just what we need at the time. I remembered the warm feeling I had when you shared some of your dishes. Comfort food! Lots of love behind them. Thank you.
@deetoo thank you! Yes ... that is "my thing" .... feeding hungry beings. Every body that knows me knows if you show up at my door hungry I will feed you LOL. From feral cats and wildlife to the two -leggeds as well.I appreciate you sharing your enjoyment and thoughts.🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Election Day Cakes
one of the hardest things for me, on the day after the "election" was that i had to break the news to my own mother. She had gone to bed early, and didn't watch the news on Wednesday
but how can i even say to a woman in her '90s that your vote didn't change things . that nothing seems to ever matter, no matter what how many more times does it have to go this way? how many years do you have to vote and vote and vote, and still see it all just go to shit?
but i figured it would be way better for her to hear it from me, her son, someone who cares. not from some blowup, botoxed, bowtied, bobble-headed popcorn-fart News-reader/Spokesmodel on the TV.
yeah i'm mad. mad that i had to make my Mom cry
and now the kiddo is coming home from school
he hasn't heard yet either
how do i tell him
that nothing makes sense
it's
what? Opposite Day?
then when is the Opposite of Opposite Day?
today is the day we break the hearts of 11 year olds
and 93 year olds
and i'm still mad about it
I have never grieved after an election. I have felt many things....but never before have I grieved. Yes, there is still a sense of calm but I am in mourning for my nation, my brothers and sisters across this nation, even people I've never met but whose lives are now upside down.
It is more than breaking the news to your mom or the kiddo. You are breaking news about a death, a death of a dream, of justice of truth of ethics and all that we hold dear in our country and for humanity.
We are in mourning.
You know what happens after the mourning time? We find our light and change the world one step, one person at a time.
You will help change the world my friend. You have already done so in ways you don't even realize, and you will continue to do so because your light will be snuffed out.
I have no idea where to put this, but since this is really the only off-topic/free-form place on the site, it's going here.
just a quik public service announcement: the Rooftop Revolving Lounge is, as always, an open, free-range space/non-space to talk about any and every thing
@tgraf66 i hear you. Every broken hearted word you said. Sit by me. There are (who knows how many?) others that also feel this way. The situation is far beyond fked up, and i can't pretend. But you were strong enough to articulate it, in words. Thank you for doing that, you are not alone
I purchased a very loud sweater today for five bucks which will help with a dopamine boost every so often.
i'm betting art will become louder as well as more covert in the future.
yes!
don't comply. defy! 🤠 ❤️

Unk - Thank you as always for this reminder. This thread tends to get buried so for my part I'll help resurface it from time to time as well.
The attached image is my vibe these days!
Happy Thanksgiving to the forum family!
My mother is calling members of congress today to see if she can drudge up support to confirm me as Surgeon General today. My qualifications you ask? I once had surgery and I eat General Mills cereals.
