Friends - there's a lot of bad in the world right now so I wanted to resurrect the Rooftop Revolving Lounge to give everyone something happy. We could all use it.
Our local YMCA does a fundraiser every year - Dancing with the Y Stars. It's their biggest fundraiser for youth programming of the year and it's typical to bring in between 50-100K to support kids in our area. I've attended and cheered on friends for years. This year I'm in it.
In June I was invited to dinner at a local restaurant and met my dance partner and my choreographer. My dance partner is an incredible woman who survived breast cancer and is stepping completely out of her comfort zone. Our choreographer is a former student of mine who I directed in several productions throughout her teen years. Part of how I was able to drop 56 pounds between June and today was the regular practices. It wasn't uncommon for me to burn 600-800 calories in a one hour practice. The lifts, the dips, the footwork - I've enjoyed it all!
Tomorrow is the big night! There are two trophies at stake and while it's possible to win both, only two couples have. (DISCLAIMER: I am not asking for a reading, for light and energy or anything. If any of you would like to cross your fingers for us I'll gladly let you but I want all of it to unfold tomorrow as a beautiful surprise!) We had our final dress rehearsal tonight and for the first time we all got to see our competition. There are some GREAT teams! While we all of course are in it to win, we all had a blast tonight and we can't wait for the actual competition tomorrow.
Tomorrow we all perform once and then votes (which cost $5 a piece - voting has been open for two months) are tallied and the top three teams perform again. At that point everyone's totals are zeroed out and there's one more round of "voting" with the wallets and then two trophies are awarded. Peoples' choice is one of those top 3. Judge's choice (the one you REALLY want) can be any of the 9 teams.
My partner has been incredible. This is completely out of her comfort zone. At our first practice she gave her best but continually said she didn't want to do this. Over the past few months she's grown so much and I'm so proud of her and how hard she's worked. We're both hoping to be one of those rare teams that win it all.
Tonight during final dress we took this picture together. If you could only have seen her face when we first started rehearsing - Tonight - the light in her eyes alone could illuminate Pluto. I'm so proud to have made a new friend by entering a competitive dance competition for charity. Our costumes are pink themed for breast cancer awareness.

Tho I have to say I've been thinking of light & sunshine for a few days. Got the sun twice in tarot readings I did yesterday as well.
@dannyboy, will they be videotaping this competition, like "Dancing with the Stars"? If so, I'll buy a copy!
@deetoo They will! They record all of it professionally so the next years teams can see what they’re getting into. Everything ends up on YouTube. They will cut our intro video (we went all in on funny) and our dance all together. I will make sure it gets shared when they post it!
We’ve performed - currently waiting on results to see if we brought in enough money to dance again - and judges choice is still in play :-)
