@seaholly and @lovendures, Thank you so much for your responses. Both of you are amazingly accurate!
Cricket does prefer peace and quiet. She'll leave the room if there are loud sounds or music from the TV. She's terrified of thunder. She was very subdued for several months after we took her home from the shelter - didn't purr or meow, ate very little. We were told that she was dropped off at the shelter after the owners thought she was pregnant. She was, and her babies were removed during the spaying process. I've always felt she mourned both the rejection and loss of her babies. She hears me tell her how wonderful she throughout the day because I'm retired, but loves to sit with my husband as soon as he gets home - so yes - she spreads her love equally. She's an extremely affectionate kitty.
@lovendures, Cricket is ALL about finding sunspots and sitting in windows and looking out doors. Will do that for hours. She's an indoor cat but we'll take her out on a harness once in awhile. She likes to explore a few minutes then come back in. She'll curl up on sofas, chairs, beds, blankets, boxes, bags, and laps. It's interesting you used the term "purr box". That's another constant for her, and my husband and I actually say to each other that she's "got her purr box on". We'll gauge whether it's on high, medium, or low.
You both are clearly skilled with these readings - thank you again!
Thanks so much for the feedback! It really helps to learn how to interpret what I am getting. She seems to be a happy and content cat. To be told often that she is loved is a beautiful things. I love the fact that you let her go out with a harness sometimes. Clever and fun for short periods of time. Safe too.
Hi Cindy!
I am getting that Lucy has slowed down a lot over the last couple years. She is filled with love. Needs it and gives it. She was happy to when little to run and play outdoors, but has less energy now to run a lot. She still likes attention and enjoys when you are home. Ricky has been an adjustment for her. Sometimes she is annoyed with his energy and intrusion into her space. But she is adjusting and kinda shows him the ropes. Perhaps she reflects back on her youth watching him interact with life. I am hearing her speak in an almost sing song "woof " Woooof Wooof Wooof. Does that make sense.
Ricky has a lot of puppy energy. He loves to explore and interact with his world . He likes to play with his environment and with Lucky, who doesn't always play the way he hopes. He will or used to jump on her and other things at the house. He is very alert and can be protective. Ricky does not woof like Lucy. His voice is different.
Not sure if this is accurate but I am sensing something about a teacher with Ricky. Perhaps he is here to teach you something. He is smart. Lucy I believe is here to fill your world with love. It is perhaps a balance of love flowing between the two of you. She might be a healing dog.
Thank you for your feedback @allthetrees. It is always rewarding to be validated. Cricket is lucky to have been adopted by loving humans, and have a comfortable and caring home. From the photo, I’m assuming she’s an all black kitty. If so, bless you and your husband as black kitties often tend to have the most difficulties getting a forever home. What many don’t realize from having had one in the past is that these little black panthers are love machines!
I'd like to post a couple photos but I've never been able to insert images. The "Attach Image" and "Choose file" choices do not appear on my screen, in any browser, no matter where I click inside or below the message box.
@seaholly Yes, Cricket is an all black kitty. We purposely choose black rescues. The kitty before her, Tula, was solid black and lived to age 20. We miss her physical presence but know she's with us. Sometimes she makes herself known.
I feel Nimbus is quite inquisitive and intelligent, interested in anything that moves @ana because he likes the stimulation. Is Nimbus able to go outside? If so is this kitty known to be a good hunter? I see Nimbus in the grass on alert, listening and watching to pounce. He doesn’t hesitate to defend his territory. He can be quite independent but also loves his comforts. He feels secured and loved. If an indoor cat only, he (I can’t tell if he’s male or female) dreams of pouncing on a prey whether real or a toy like a ball. I see Nimbus sleeping in the sun, quite content and peaceful, preening and taking pride in keeping his fur in good condition. Does he like sleeping in the grass? I hear flies buzzing around his head annoying him. Is Nimbus mischievous at times, getting into things he shouldn’t? He knows he’s beautiful and I hear “I have a good life”. This kitty is happy with his home which he feels is well balanced.
@lovendures Yes, Lucy is pure love. She was a pup I saw "for sale" on line. I just knew she was in trouble and I needed to do something. I didn't blink at traveling 5 hours in each direction to get her. She was terribly ill, malnourished, had mange, was so dehydrated her bladder was not functioning properly. All of this was carefully concealed in the pic I saw, but I knew. She was so young, just 5-6 weeks old. I've never seen my vet so angry as when he saw her and her state. She was so scared of everyone she bit him as he tried to check her out. It took months to get her healthy. Once she was ok, I took her out to get socialized. We carried paper towels just for the occasion, since she'd pee if anyone tried to touch her. It took several months, but one day I had her both in Lowes, then over to Home Depot (both locally had associates who gave treats) and you could see she suddenly got it. The genie was out of the bottle, and there was no putting it back in. From that day on, I've yet to be able to get her to understand you don't jump on folks to greet them with a kiss to their face. You don't share the chair with them to be close, etc. She always greets everyone on walks, and I have to be careful, as she doesn't understand the signals unfriendly dogs give out-it's just not in her nature. Until I took in Ricki, I never heard her growl in her life. She's been very special to me. She does get vocal-yes. She barks at all creatures, human, non-human, etc., that pass by our windows. She grumbles and complains, or sighs in delight to communicate as well. She also will go outside and howl when she hears a passing emergency vehicle -which I'm sure the neighbors truly appreciate.
Just like Lucy, when I saw a pic of Ricki online at a rescue, there was just that knowing. Ricki was older-5 months, and she was even more timid than Lucy was. She was ill as well, but not as ill as Lucy was. I've had her for 6 months now. She will not come to me at any time. She absolutely freaks out if I put a leash on her. She still has nightmares nightly. We have to turn her so her hind legs are not facing Lucy or myself. When she has the nightmares and tries to run, her kicks really hurt. She's even flung herself off the bed with her kicking. I've only seen her wag her tail twice since I've had her. I haven't a clue what she's been through. I do see progress. It took a month to get her to not freak out if we were in the same room. She slowly made her way into my room after 2 months. It took another month to get her to lay on the floor of my room where she could see us instead of hiding on the far side. By month 4 she routinely joins us on the bed (I've made her sleep here since the second week so I knew what she's up to at night). In the last 6 weeks, she's pushing us around the bed to make sure she too has some contact with me thru the night. She hasn't figured out that she shouldn't sit or lay on top of either me or Lucy (or both on occasion), but she's working on it. I can now go up to her when she's lying on the furniture and pet her and otherwise touch her. Last week for the first time I actually got to touch her while I was standing. She'll come up to me if I'm seated, or bent in half -and she'll only sniff me-not let me pet her. She wanted to see what food I was preparing, and when I felt her nose on my leg, I reached back and patted her head. She didn't run for the first time. She now comes to greet me at the door when I return home. We're making progress, but it will be slow.
She was taken to a shelter not by the owner, so no one knows exactly what she, her sister and brother went through. Judging by the nightmares and the leash issues, I'd say she was tied up until her rescuer absconded with her. I'd also venture to say she's been hit based on her flinching reactions. I did get her to stay in the house and not hide a few weeks ago when I had my spring cleaning for my HVAC done. I gave the tech a treat, but she wouldn't take it from him, but she didn't run either as long as I stood next to where she was perched on the bed. Ricki does have a different voice from Lucy. However, she never uses it, unless she's playing with Lucy. Ricki's brother was a bit of a bully I'm told, so she's used to being rough and defensive. Lucy doesn't understand that. However, Lucy is smart and while they're close in size, Lucy is much quicker and much more agile. This will flummox Ricki to no end. I encourage Lucy to be the top dog. While Ricki is curious about much in the house, she's still very timid in most ways. She loves spending lots of time outside exploring in the yard, tho she doesn't notice the other critters like Lucy does, and is perplexed at why Lucy makes such noise. She doesn't have the sense to come in out of the rain either, and relieves herself wherever (deck, outdoor carpet, etc.) so this is also an indicator she was tied with her siblings and not cleaned up after. She doesn't have a clue how to communicate to me she needs to go out, so I often keep my back door open for her. Even when closed now, she doesn't often have accidents any longer.
I had a dream one night a few months back, and Ricki was curled up under a counter just watching the people who were socializing in the room, keeping her eyes on me, just content. I heard Spirit (or one of my guides) telling me that she would be a special dog. I woke feeling like eventually she'd become something truly special. Many is the day where I wonder if I woke with the right interpretation. Is it more like Dana Carvey's Church Lady's version of "she's special" that I was being told? Hmmm.... 😎 🤔
@iridium
Hi, this isn’t a reading, Nimbus is like Jake a white cat I had and that little spot on his nose looks like what Jake had which turned out to be a skin cancer which kept growing and eventually he had to have most of his nose removed, he also had it on his ear tips which also had to be removed. Maybe get it checked as it is still small and if it is a skin cancer fixed before it becomes worse. Keep him out of the sun, they are prone to it.

I totally missed that they are both girls. That is good to know. haha. Regarding the teacher feeling I had with Ricki, perhaps it is the need for her to learn, that Lucy and YOU are teaching her. In turn she will probably teach you as well. She is learning to trust and you are the perfect moon for her. You are so caring to both of them. I am sure Ricki will grow into your love.
Your love and care for them is an extension of who you are Cindy.
What lucky dogs you have, you are their blessing.
@seaholly I'm going to wait to comment more until (if) others want to post their impressions, but you're pretty much right on most things. :-)
BTW Nimbus is a girl.
@Gbs's big boy is her family dog named Roman. He looks sweet and I look forward to reading what anyone here sees about him.
@seaholly Thanks! Yes, Teddy likes the blanket where the pix was taken, and he sleeps there a lot. He also has to eat a special food for urinary issue he did have, and it is chicken flavor. I'll leave it there for now, just in case anyone sees more...
@jeanne-mayell Thank you for posting Roman’s picture, Jeanne!
And, yes, although he’s a German Shepherd who weighs a hundred pounds, we always say that Roman is a big stuffed animal who came to life in the toy store and romped away to find a home and ended up with us. 😄
@seaholly @jeannemayell
OK- Yes Nimbus is inquisitive-- investigative--and I think she is intelligent for a cat.
She LOVES lying in the sun outside. Most of the time she's inside but she gets to go outside when someone is home. She'll lie for hours on a patio chair or in the grass. We had another kitty who passed away in 2020 who hated warm weather -- he and Nimbus were complete opposites in that respect. Nimbus loves warmth and will meow loudly in annoyed fashion when it's cold or rainy , like "Hey people, fix the weather for me!!" She is a talker. She walks into a room and announces her presence loudly. She does spend a lot of time grooming herself and purring and looking smug.
She used to be more of a hunter but less so as she's gotten older. She likes to catch lizards, mostly.
She is not a lap cat but does like to be near people. She sleeps in the "people bed" every night.
We got her from a shelter when she was about 4-5 months old. My son, who was 8 at the time, had not seemed too interested in getting another cat when I was looking for a companion for the cat we already had. But when he saw Nimbus at the shelter he said, "I want that one." He was quite sure about it. No other cat had drawn his attention like she did. There's something about her that's unusual but I can't put my finger on it.
Thanks for the input.
I’ve been loving all these posts about your pets. I couldn’t even talk about it before. We have 2 sisters, mixed breed, 14 1/2 year old females. We’ve had them since they were 5 weeks old, beautiful rescues. We had to put down one of our girls, Bandit, last week due to liver failure. Our heart is broken. Her sister, Summer, is still good, hopefully for a long time. If I could figure out how to post their picture I would. In the meantime your pictures have brought me joy during this very sad time. Thank you all and your fur babies for the love and joy you share.
ps how can I post a pic? I’d love to show you all. Thanks
Here are @febbby23's precious sister rescues fur babies. Summer is on the left, and Bandit, who just recently became an angel, is on the right. They are 14. Please let us know what you "see" about them.
