There is a new eruption of the Kilauea volcano which began last night. Â https://weather.com/news/news/2020-12-21-kilauea-volcano-eruption-hawaii
A new Icelandic volcano eruption happened this week, it last erupted 800 years ago.Â
The Democratic Republic of Congo just had an eruption and 15 people have been killed. Over 150 children have been separated from their family members in the ensuing chaos. Â May they be reunited with loved ones shortly.
Is it just me or is it odd to see an African Country have a volcano eruption?

@lovendures  It's just Earth doing her thing. The volcano is part of the East African Rift system.  Southeastern Africa and Madagascar are slowly splitting away from the rest of the continent and have been doing so for millions of years. There are many volcanoes coincident with the rift-- Mt. Kilamanjaro is one. Â

Hello all - revisiting this thread for a couple of reasons:
1. The current La Palma eruption in the Canary Islands (Cumbra Vieja national park.)
2. An episode of Expedition Unknown that I recently saw. This is the show that Josh Gates leads and he has two investigators that try to find evidence for all sorts of paranormal phenomenon (everything from ghosts, to UFOs, to cryptid creatures, etc.) Yes, it is my guilty pleasure :) I take it all with a grain of salt, but the most recent episode last week was about this Thailand UFO cult (Kaokala) that meditates and believes they get information from aliens.Â
The point of the episode that caught my attention was that one of their members was famous for posting a YouTube video predicting the 2011 Fukushima disaster the day before it happened.Â
Well, the group apparently claims that the information they are getting recently is focused on volcano disasters around the ring of fire! This made me think of the volcanoes mentioned in recent read the future predictions. I would have to dig around to find those, but wanted to share this to see -- is anyone getting anything more concrete about volcanoes lately?
