Hi everyone, I just heard from KMAC aka Kathleen who lives in Asheville and last posted here Thursday night worrying about the rain she was getting. She is OK. She said it was OK to share her message to me with you all:
“Hi Jeanne, how kind and thoughtful of you to reach out to me, and please pass along my well wishes to everyone. This is the first time I’ve had cell service in 10 days. We are fine, our house made it through intact. We live on high ground, so flooding wasn’t a problem, but we have 6 gigantic trees that slammed down all around us that night. We are still without power, but our neighborhood came together and is helping each other. This has been a lesson in community and gratitude. So many have suffered or lost members of their families and friends. Hope to be back on the website soon. Again, thank you for reaching out.“
- Thanks to @deetoo for noticing kathleen’s post Thursday Night right before the rain cut Asheville off from the rest of the world.
@journeywithme2 She can't get the Internet yet, but I will share the caring post message you sent her.
@journeywithme2 - @KMAC loved your message and said she will get back with a reply when she can.
Good morning, all,
I’ve noticed that for the past 3 days there has been a lot more coverage in the MSM about the hurricane destruction and the people being affected by it. I was very angry by the lack of coverage on the hurricane aftermath, so I was relieved to finally see that begin to change a few days ago.
It occurred to me this morning that this probably has come about because of the disinformation being spread by TFG and his enablers. The disinformation has become a driving news story and as a result, more is being investigated and reported to educate the public with the facts and reality of the situation. The Washington Post had page 1 stories on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The sad part is had the MSM given this story the full and proper attention from the onset, the disinformation may not have spread so broadly and so rapidly. Yes, there would still be lies spread by the liar-in-chief, et al. But the MSM’s paltry initial coverage provided a vacuum where these lies could more easily take root and promulgate.
When will they — and we — ever learn?
And yet … in the midst of all that we’ve lost, witnessed and is yet to be revealed, I remain hopeful.
When I think of the communities coming together as many have shared, and the outpouring of generosity, courage and love they have demonstrated, I remain hopeful.
I heard José Andrés of World Central Kitchen being interviewed a few days ago in Asheville. When asked how much more work needs to be done, José replied “we’ll keep coming until you don’t need us anymore.”
José said, “in our worst moments of humanity, the best of humanity shows up.”
I agree with José. And I remain hopeful.
Hurricane Milton is now a Cat 5 .... saying prayers and sending Light for the Highest Good for all concerned 🙏🏻💜🪽💜🙏🏻
They are saying the water level will likely be much higher than Helene in Tampa and now there will be a ton of projectiles in the air due to all the collected debris lining the streets awaiting trash pick up. All the debris which will clog any sort of drain. It sounds like it will be extremely hazardous.
@lowtide did you evacuate yet?
How else is in the area?
Prayers for all. May you be protected and may you always find the light. Saying lots of prayers for everyone in Milton's path.
Aired before Milton became a 5.
