@raincloud truly scary, those weapons. The “if it were my dream” is from Jeremy Taylor’s The Wisdom of Your Dreams.
@raincloud Yes, your finding the Atlantic article was a "funny" synchronicity. I haven't read the article yet (I'm a subscriber); but the USA and Rome often seemed to me to be "history rhyming."
My perception?
The Romans were Empire builders... centralized administrators. Their culture had a hugh impact on the Western world... actual physical builders... practical users of technology... pride, indeed hubris in their military might and their culture... frequent success "converting" those they've conquered (I believe ours is mostly economic, though there are notable exceptions, for example how we came to be a country "from sea to shining sea"). Frequent borrowing from other cultures whilst pretending everything flowed from Rome. Immigration from throughout the Empire poured into Italy and into their vast federal administrative organization. They had the beginnings of a limited representative democracy which fell through corruption and infighting, neglecting the qualities which had made them strong. Their culture was ruled by a long lasting patriarchy; and there was an extreme economic and educational divide between the upper class and the majority of the populous. I'm sure there is more.
There are differences to be sure, but to me the USA is the new Rome. I love my country: I hope we learn to use our good qualities... leave behind our flaws... and step into the light. That choice is before us. I pray that we will make the right choice.
I keep wondering what the big, box-like object represents. I refuse to speculate into the potential impact of unsecured "boxes" containing national secrets... being gobbled up... like "Asian" noodles.
Now I want to read the Atlantic article... and about ancient Rome. Anybody know a good book? I may misunderstand a great deal about Roman culture and that of my own country... and yet I natter on... sorry.
I had a strange dream on Wednesday night. Unfortunately I often can’t remember much about my dreams. What I do remember about this one is that it took place in what was supposed to be my house. Things felt relatively peaceful, until I saw that two huge rats had invaded my home. One rat was on the main level, which includes the kitchen. The other rat was somewhere in the basement. I remember thinking that the basement must have been the way they entered, although I didn’t know exactly where that might have occurred. I thought they must have created a hole somewhere, but I didn’t investigate. As I thought about how I might drive out the rats, I suddenly saw that the rats had turned into bear cubs. I left some doors opened on the upper level, hoping that the cubs would leave on their own.
I'm not great with interpreting dreams, unless it's something really apparent or feels deeply personal to me. I usually connect dreams about a house as representing me and my psyche. Although that's probably true about this one, might it also represent our world conflicts? Could the rats represent the Hamas invasion?
The dream was unsettling with the rats present, but I felt less disturbed when I saw the cubs -- it was more confusion about their transformation. I thought the cubs were cute but I felt very unsettled about them. I thought that the bear cubs might represent Russia and/or Putin. I remember initially feeling relieved about the cubs, but then being concerned that if I didn't remove them, they would grow into something much larger and dangerous. Maybe something about a false sense of security?
I would welcome further interpretations.
I also had a vision about Putin the morning after I had this dream, which I am posting under the "Random Predictions 3" thread.
@deetoo this morning i also had a dream about creatures being in places you would not want them to be: In my dream, i walked into a bar, and ordered a Pina Colada (!). (In real life, i would have chosen a Long Island Ice Tea, because at $15 a pop, i expect it to at least give me a buzz). As i was about to take a sip, i noticed there was a large cockroach swimming around in it.
"Um, excuse me? there is a roach in my drink." The bartender picked up my drink to look. Then she stuck her long Lee Press-ons into my Pina Colada, and flicked the roach out of it. "There you go. Happy NOW?" she asked, obviously irritated.
I looked at the drink again. "Um, i'm sorry, but now there seems to be a scorpion in my cocktail?" She picked up the glass, and when she saw it, she slammed it into the bar sink. "Dammit! I guess now I will have to make you a whole new drink!"
At that point i laughed so hard at the inappropriateness of her response, that i actually woke myself up- which is probably why i remembered the dream. It was like she was mad at me for being so picky
@deetoo, This dream is right out of Orwell's Animal Farm. The rats were the Hamas invaders, and the cubs indicates a relationship with the Kremlin. Remember the puppies in Animal Farm? THey represented the children that Stalin took away from their families and then trained to become his loyal secret police. Except today it's Hamas invaders turned into puppies for whom? Bear cubs would mean the Kremlin. While I do not know how much, if anything, Putin was involved in this invasion, I thought from the beginning that he was.
Also, The rats entered the house through the basement, which is in the dark and the unconscious, but in a state in which their true identity was shrouded. But in the light of day upstairs, they turned out to be bear cubs. Perhaps Palestinians, who are trying to immigrate to Russia.
@jeanne-mayell, Regarding my dream, I love your Animal Farm analogy. Although at the time I did feel the rats were Hamas and the bear cubs were Russia, what confused me was that they were cubs -- why not a grown bear? I remember initially feeling relieved at that, but then being concerned that if I didn't remove them, they would grow into something much bigger and dangerous.
@jeanne-mayell I get a feeling that, numerologically, 630 can mean gathering together one's familiar (familial) group and then incorporating a new agreement or social pact aimed at wholeness. I feel it speaks to a new society that we could be making that is about more than work and survival. A higher light is possible.
Lovely dream, thanks for sharing!
