Taking Young Children from their Parents for a Misdemeanor is an Atrocity

I haven't logged in for a while, but I have been reading this thread recently. I'm deeply saddened at where our country is headed right now. My husband and I will be attending a small protest on Saturday. It helps me to know that people all over the United States will be attending events at the same time as our protest.

Thanks again for the site, Jeanne.

I just read this article written by Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts. Please read this, it's sickening but I'm glad she's shining a light on it too.

Just read it too and it's just heartbreaking...this is why I will march tomorrow with my sisters and friends and many around the country to show support and maybe effect change.

It is wrong that our government is doing nothing to unify these families and help them seek asylum. Pure evil!

I'm re reading Hannah Arendt and her thesis on the "banality of evil". She so effectively explains how seemingly 'normal people' can be complicit in executing acts so heinous we think it can never happen. It did in Germany in the 30'- 40's and it is happening here...

It was extremely difficult to read, I almost couldn't believe it could be happening. I'm glad she didn't mince words. Banality of evil is right, it's that quality that makes daily life so difficult, seeing how many people are either indifferent or rationalizing what's going on.

I recommend reading "The Rise of Totalitarianism" by Hannah Arendt, "In the Garden of Beasts" by Erik Larson, and "Hitler's Willing Executioners" by D. Goldhagen. They all revolve around understanding the banality of evil and how it arises.

I expect book reports to be handed in by end of summer  ?
