Article about astrological implications of solar eclipse   http://www.collective-evolution.com/2017/08/01/the-great-american-eclipse-an-astrological-analysis/

This reading supports much of the predictions in this group.

Also, in regard to the cycles of eclipses, this one also harkens back to the one in 1869 and 1918. The division of N & S, and the creation of the KKK, the laws restricting African Americans etc-- President Grant's presidency... Aw well, that is what is on everyone's mind because of the current events. However, I think we should also look to the effect on the Native American rights and treatment as at that time. As you can see, history is repeating itself - in the 1860-1870s it was the Black Hills that the government looked to take from the Lakota, to them a location much like Jerusalem to Christians and Jewish people. The US wanted it for the gold and other minerals and resources-- this ultimately lead to the Indian Wars and the famous battle in 1876 which General Custer lost.

Interesting thing about Custer, the description of him is very similar to Trump-- I wonder if there is some reincarnation/ past life issue going on there. The description of Custer: "Custer, whose tireless self-promotion, outsized vanity, lust for fame and power, and incapacity for empathy--most of his soldiers detested him--presaged the sickness of the modern celebrity culture, embodied the cult of the self. He was the quintessential American hustler. Contracts that presented impediments to material and national advancement, defined as progress, were nullified or ignored. Force rather than trust determined relationships. Nature was a commodity to make human beings wealthy. And there as no limit to the amount of human suffering and death, environmental contamination, and extinction of species one could inflict on the road to glory, wealth and power." It is a little eerie, do you not think? Anyway, I was poked to look at this.

I would like to think that by the next eclipse we will see a different kind of life/economy/values-- more resembling one that was held in high esteem and practice by the Native American. "A  society in which respect was achieved by the redistribution of wealth and rank was earned by merit, in which the natural and human worlds were intimately connected and revered, in which there was not real concept of personal property and life was communal.".. I don't necessarily hope for a commune or socialism but something more of a piece of distributism-- or at least an end to crony and unrestricted capitalism. A modern secular rerum novarum...perhaps.

I find that quite interesting in the last time this type of eclipse occurred was back in the birth of US:

The last time Pluto was in Capricorn was from 1762-1778 and at the end of that time period the US Declaration Of Independence was signed and the US was birthed.

It's going to be interesting to see how this develops!

I'm just curious - how is everyone feeling about this eclipse or what's coming? I'm feeling restless, a bit angry, and I keep hearing "Fight, fight, fight!". I'm usually calm and positive so this is a little unsettling for me...what kind of energy are you feeling?

Very interesting article Kathy - thanks for sharing.

Eclipses evoke much-needed change. And yes, they can effect your emotions.

Many excellent articles online about this.

Just experienced the solar eclipse at 99.3%. Crickets in my back yard began chirping like it was twilight. Amazing!

The key is to focus on where you are when the light comes back, as opposed to where you are when the light is blocked.

Thanks for starting this topic.  I'm on retreat, but jumped in for a few minutes today to moderate in case anyone was held up. Brian will be back moderating tomorrow until I return on Friday.

I get an ominous feeling about the eclipse. I posted in comments just now  that it is a foreboding for the U.S. and very bad for the president. Will be meditating on it and post in a few days.  But the feeling is that it signifies a turning point for our country (and this president).   But eclipses aren't all bad.  They represent endings and new beginnings.  Something is about to end, but something will then begin.   As the eclipse is underway right now, I get a deep dark feeling.

Lucky you KB for being in the path of totality! I'm in Arizona so we just got a partial but I'm happy to report that I'm back to my normal self :)   I had a good conversation with the universe and my guide while it was happening and now I feel good.

Another thought about the eclipse -

The ancient Tibetans believed that everything is accentuated during an eclipse.  So we spent the eclipse meditating together on loving kindness. We sent love and well being to our loved ones, ourselves, and everyone in this world.

To all of you -- may you , those you love, and all beings awaken to your their selves. May you all live in joy and peace, be protected and free.

An eclipse brings temporary darkness to areas where it can be seen. How ever the no matter how dark it seems the light is still there. This is the lesson. Eclipses are harbinger of change which can be unsettling, it is painful in times. But, the change is necessary for new beginning to happen. This eclipse is probably the first in the serise of events to happen which will bring change in next 30-40 years in america. It's effects will seem like disaster, but it will bring important changes.

Totally agree. I have this feeling in the back of my head that my soul asked to be here in this place at this time because I wanted a front row seat to the rebirth (despite the pain of going through it). I feel fortunate to be alive at this point in time.

Wonderful and thought provoking comments!

We were in the full totality of the eclipse and even traveled slightly southeast of our home and ended up in almost the perfect center of the width of the path of totality. It was incredibly interesting and amazing to not only feel but see its effects on members of our family as each of us experienced it, felt it, and had immediate behavioral changes ..before, during, and after the eclipse itself.  We are all still processing it from the very youngest grandchild to the resident crone or as I prefer to be referred to the Wise Woman in the group ;-)  A profound experience from beginning to end.

I found Kathy's referencing to be so incredibly interesting since our referencing to reality and our sense of digital time is made up of repeating binary codes and patterns. We may experience it in waves (or zig zags as I have when "spatially" traveling) but the patterns are always repeated in different time frames as we all go through this intense process.

There was a deep sense of foreboding as we came back to the ' reality of the reel' world, a knowing that things were about to speed up even further, that immense change was going to be happening in ways that perhaps none of us might have yet expected or predicted, but could still sense. For the very first time, I was afraid to be a part of it all, instead of feeling like I could handle anything as I always have and have learned so completely from truly challenging life experiences in my personal time frame.

But then I breathed in and out and reminded myself as we all need to that we are indeed part of something much, much bigger..so big, so great even, that we cannot imagine the possibilities.

And as I reached out to the powers and force greater than myself, I felt reassured that no matter what happens..to me, to all of us, to our planet....that somehow, someway I still need it to be as it was meant to be and "we" will be ok. And I held onto that as I came back into this me that I am experiencing here and now, and knew I just needed to prepare myself..mind, body, and spirt..for whatever comes next!

And together, in my heart of hearts, as crazy as it all is and crazier as it all may get..I knew this to be true. And that gives me strength, courage, and hope and I know "I/we/all of us" can do this! It will be more interesting times ahead, more intense, more challenging, and there will be times when each and every one of us wants to give up and stop all of this, including being here on this forum.

But be brave of heart, spirit, and truly purpose driven for the greater good and we will persevere, become the greater version of ourselves that we dream of being, and help our mother earth survive and transform as well.

For me that was the message of the temporarily "eclipsed sun by the eclipsing 'shadow' of the moon", the promise of the beautiful planet Venus, our  morning star that we could see so clearly ......because of the appearance of the dark skies transformation of that morning's light.... and the appearing "diamond ring" that burst around it all at the transition point. I truly felt like the  "Dawning of a New Aurora" for this world .... and I believe that is why so many watchers had such deep emotional reactions to the full experience.

I felt blessed to be alive in this time and space and to have been part of it all. For "the times they are a'changing.... and we are part of it all.

My dear Michele,

I have been coming to this site less and less because, since Nov 2016, with each day I am overwhelmed by the future and what it may bring.

Thank you for your post this morning. From one Wise Woman to another...blessings.

Thank you for such beautiful and honest reflections.

For me the eclipse was all you are saying. It was both a literal and symbolic demonstration of the energy shift our world is going through.

At the retreat where I was Monday, the way people reacted to the event fit the reactions of so many of us on this website to visions and news about our world.

Some people were fearful. They stayed indoors and would not look. One person danced around excitedly, inviting others to look through her glasses. I was surprised that I burst into tears upon seeing a bite taken out of the sun. Not sad, or despairing, just shocked at a visceral level to behold half the sun, something so reliable and essential to life, was blotted out.

Everyone who saw it was moved to ponder the large.

On this site, we open our eyes to the world, to how it is playing out in our consciousness. We see visions -- some terrible, some hopeful, some ordinary. We react to those visions with hope, despair, humor, and fear.

We take comfort in our common belief in the interconnectivity of all beings, and in a moral decency we share.

I haven't known where we were going with this website. My motivation has been to increase awareness of our world.

Seeing, I thought, perhaps we could avert dangers. But much of the time we can't prevent our visions from happening. Although perhaps we are preventing worse things from happening in ways we will never know.

So mostly the result has been to increase our awareness, our ability to see. We don't get our awareness from others. We get it from ourselves, which is why I encourage people to try to have their own visions.

And as we increase our ability to see, my hope is that wisdom will come from it.

Paul wrote that his soul chose to be here at this time. He feels fortunate to witness the world's rebirth, even though it means feeling the pain of going through it. Thank you, Paul, for point that out.

There is such an incredible wisdom we can get from going through this difficult time. From seeing that which has always been so reliable is now no longer reliable. When our leadership doesn't automatically scream foul at the President condoning White Nationalist terrorism, our reliable world has been turned upside-down. It's like watching the sun getting blotted out.

So what are we to gain from witnessing this? Why do I feel, as Paul, privileged to be alive at this time?

My thought is that we get wisdom from witnessing our world go upside-down. We can get wisdom if we keep our eyes open and then try to find an honest way of dealing with what we see.

I am hopeful about the future, but not because I think there won't be suffering, or because I think I won't suffer. I am hopeful because I think we will find a way to see and love this world in spite of the darkness in it.

I try not to pin my happiness on hope that this is all going to turn out just the way we envision. I don't know how it's going to turn out. No one does. We have our visions and they are encouraging that the forces of light will prevail in the timeline we have seen.

But we can't know for sure. And we certainly can't control forces as large as the earth or as powerful as human  hate and greed and the wealth that drives them.

But I get wisdom from seeing the good that has already happened, from the gratitude I feel for the earth, and the solidarity I feel with each of you, for the light in your hearts. I believe in the ultimate power of light and life.

Hi Jeanne, glad you're back and love your experience of the eclipse. I agree with the shift of energy occurring, I can feel it, see it and hear it! I too am grateful to be alive now, to witness this extraordinary time in the history of human evolution. Trump is just a part of a puzzle of many pieces that will propel this cosmic change. The more time I spend in contemplation and meditation I see that it will all be fine, not easy, nor predictable but necessary.

Reading this site and being a part of this community gives me comfort. Knowing things before they happen has been a guiding light for me since I was young. I have had premonitions  good and bad before they occurred in my life, and glad because when they happened I was ready. Not like in an obvious specific way but more of a "feeling" that it will be ok, not the end. Does that make sense?? Anyway thank you all for your insight, ideas, opinions and visions. I look forward to learning from you all...btw Jeanne I made the mistake of looking at the Solar eclipse for a brief moment without the special glasses (was trying to photograph it, my bad!) and now I have flouters! You warned us and I didn't really think it could happen...oh well I hope they go away.

The week before the eclipse, a friend and I had taken a trip to help other friends settle into a new home after a cross country move. On our way home, we were scouting out locations along the coast where the eclipse would be total. Where we live we would be about 97% of totality, but my friend's husband wanted to be in the totality zone. We lived close enough to make the day trip, so why not? The night before, they were calling for clouds to block our view, and my friends decided to go inland. This trip was too much for me as a day trip. I have two dogs and it wouldn't be fair to leave them alone 14 hours or more without being let out. I chose to stay behind, and thought I'd either stay home or travel a little south along the coast by myself. My sister was visiting some of our family in GA and without giving me prior notice chose to go and visit her in laws in SC on the coast the day before the eclipse. Her in laws live 20 miles from the official totality zone. So, I made the trip early in the morning so we could have a beach day.

We frolicked in the surf as we always do. We're both water rats since childhood. Her in laws always find it amusing that at our age, we're still like kids-barely on the beach as they watch from the comfort of their chairs in the sand. This day was no different.

The park was packed but not overflowing, as most tourists were on their way a few miles further south to the advertised totality zones. We found the event amazing. Both of us were in high spirits, and we'd come in to the beach, view the event unfolding-then back into the waves. The forecast had been wrong. We had a shower as we went out to eat breakfast, but then we had sun with a passing cloud here and there the rest of the day. We took our cardboard glasses out into the water with our rafts and floated on the water while watching. Eventually we realized we were the only ones left in the water. It was so surreal. The entire beach was frozen. Not a soul moved as they stood facing south, looking upward, save for someone pointing a camera here and there. It was amazing to see the unusual light (which no camera seemed to be able to capture) and watching the world around us come grinding to a halt. We were the only ones who were animated and still connected to the events here on Earth. We laughed at the sight, and left the water to see if we too could capture pictures. Here again, we were the only ones animated on the beach.

Venus and a few stars came out, and that quickly, it started to get light again. We were rather sad to find that totality went by so quickly. As it got lighter, we were the first to venture back into the water, and from that vantage point, could watch the beach slowly return to normal activity, and watch the crowd thin.

I felt no anxiety. Quite the opposite. It was a reminder that the darkness that is with us right now is fleeting. The darkness we are experiencing now is out of place. We are used to the cycle of night and day, but not night visiting during the day. Since November, everything seems to have gone off script-and it's left us disoriented. Just like during the eclipse, everything may seem to stop in it's tracks, but to those who are looking at the big picture, and not just the primary event facing them, the world is still functioning as normal. The vast majority of the world wasn't able to even witness the event that made millions here become statuesque in awe or fear. Their day went on as normal. Yet the energy of the event will affect us all.

There may be events or individuals right now that are blocking out the light.  It's frightening to many that so many who are motivated by dark energy came to the forefront. But like the eclipse, it is a fleeting moment in the grand scheme of things. Total darkness is short lived, yet for some the time frame seems eternal. They fear the darkness because it has come when things should be light. But this too shall pass. And in the mean time, there are wondrous things to behold- like Venus and the stars in the middle of the afternoon, or the opportunity to watch the masses transfixed.

I had nothing but good feelings, like this was the event that signals that what has been turned up side down was now going to start its reversal into being right side up again. Things that were looking down will start to look up. It's like the Tarot card Death- to the individual getting the reading who is unfamiliar with the meaning of the card, it looks ominous. To me, when I see the Death card in a reading (unless there are other cards pointing to death or tragedy) it is a symbol of rebirth and renewal, which always comes at the end of something. Even a pregnancy ends once birth has taken place. We don't mourn the loss of the pregnancy when it produces a new life. Nor is labor a walk in the park. Yet, any mother will recall what the experience was like, and then note it pales in comparison to the joy of seeing the face of her child for the first time. The travail was worth it all.

So for me, it signaled that the rise of those riding high on the wave of negativity is over, and they are now going to be seeing a reversal in their lives. The Nazis, racists, supremacists, etc. who thought they found a champion and have stepped out of the shadows have now been exposed to the light. They have a choice-learn to embrace the light which is returning, or have their lives upended. Likewise, those who are filled with light who have been feeling overwhelmed by the negativity will be finding relief.

I have something interesting to share about the eclipse. At the beginning of this post I posted that I was feeling a bit angry, restless, and kept hearing the words "fight, fight, fight." Well I know what that means now and what the universe was preparing me for. My husband just got diagnosed with cancer in his pleural cavity and it seems to be advanced, so we are ready to "fight" for his health, and yes I did get angry at cancer for the hurt and pain it will bring. I am just amazed at how the universe communicated with me, and don't worry, we intend to fight and win!
