@jessi1978

Thats all they can defend. Jim Jordan did the same thing with Jake Tapper. The only defense they have is "no direct quid pro quo, its heresay, Hunter Biden made more in a month than most Americans make in a year." Its indefensible and they have nothing. Yea, Stephen Himmler.....I mean Miller said Trump is actually the real whistleblower, but thats something that can only be dreamed up by him or Salvador Dali on a bad day, so it doesnt really count. If Trump gets away with this, there is no hope left for our country and I think, at that point, a separation of the nation needs to take place because those of us with functioning brains just need to start over and separate ourselves from those who have been hopelessly brainwashed or never had one to begin with. Let Trump have the south and the plains and when they come crawling back in economic ruin, we can offer them the phone numbers to Putin and Kim.

He is losing his mind!! His tweets are getting out of hand.

Sunday evening called for the outing of a whistleblower and railed against other individuals, including Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), at the center of a growing scandal involving his phone call with Ukraine's president, warning there could be "Big Consequences."

"Like every American, I deserve to meet my accuser, especially when this accuser, the so-called 'Whistleblower,' represented a perfect conversation with a foreign leader in a totally inaccurate and fraudulent way. Then Schiff made up what I actually said by lying to Congress," Trump said in a series of tweets.

"His lies were made in perhaps the most blatant and sinister manner ever seen in the great Chamber," he continued before adding that he wants Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, "questioned at the highest level for Fraud & Treason."

In addition," he added, "I want to meet not only my accuser, who presented SECOND & THIRD HAND INFORMATION, but also the person who illegally gave this information, which was largely incorrect, to the 'Whistleblower.' Was this person SPYING on the U.S. President? Big Consequences!"

Any one else would have consequences either resign or obstruction charges. When are they going to say enough of this.  It’s delightful seeing him explode little by little.

not willing to concede the entire south to them.  The only major city in Texas that went for Dotard Turnip was Fort Worth.   Maybe they could have Fart Worth, and then we could just build a big wall around it.  Or better yet, lets just put them in the facilities that we liberate the children from.

As far as I know, there is nothing in the Constitution that would make the Senate have to hold a vote. All it says is that the House of Representatives is responsible to do an inquiry and compose articles of impeachment, then it says the Senate "shall be" responsible to hold the trial and vote the outcome. It doesn't say they must... so when I meditate on this week's stuff, I see Moscow Bitch Turtle burying the Articles of Impeachment in a trash can, because he knows a recorded vote would be the death of the GOP for once and for all. I also see Pelosi getting more and more frustrated - the inquiry process will go smashingly, and then the whole thing may die in the Senate.  Unfortunately, the only advice the founders had in the case of the Senate not doing their jobs is basically a revolution.

I'm still hoping that A Clodwork Orange strokes out, sooner rather than later...

I thought the word “shall” legally meant must. I think that’s all the hubbub about the taxes not being sent to Ways & Means. The law in that statute says “shall” as does the one about the whistle blower.

But I don’t put it past Moscow Mitch trying to pull a fast one. Although I am getting the feeling Mr. T is becoming more of a liability than an asset ( pardon the pun).

I am no intuitive but my gut feeling is Mitch decides when (all) the republicans support the president and when they don’t. He controls their loyalty. There is definitely some puppet master who says when they stick together and when they flee. There was a hot mike before trump was elected that caught Paul Ryan I think saying as much. My point being, I think they’ll stick together largely until they don’t. Mitch knows it’s worked to stay on message with gopers but he also knows there could be a breaking point - but he gets to decide the moment- and the president knows it.

Laura, i love "clodwork orange." My new favorite nickname.

The NY Post already publically called for turtle to refuse to have the impeachment trial, and Im expecting more to follow. Russia/Mueller was bad, but they k ew they had it covered up well enough to get away with it. This time is different. There is probably so much more hidden and now we know their hiding spots. Anyone furiously defending Trump at this point is involved. You can see a definite difference in reaction between Lindsey Graham/Jim Jones/etc and the rest of the republicans who are defending at about the same level as they did with Russia. There is true fear in their eyes now. Trump is scared and will burn the entire country down to save his ass, and this might be strange considering the last 4 years, but McConnell is going to be the one to save it.........here me out before you lose it. Lol.

Mcconnell is one who craves power above anything. If Trump gets his way, he will start a civil war to save himself, as he is already trying. A civil war removes all of McConnel's power and he never gets it back, as well as becomes a top 5 target if the minority loses. He is also a heck of a lot smarter than anyone else in DC power. He will wiggle his way into a situation where he can keep his power, steamrolling anyone he has to so he gets there. Trump's insanity is now the biggest obstacle for him, so he will be the first steamrolled by Mitch. The lack of even an evasive comment by him lately shows he is actively divising a plan to personally stay in power amd dont think for a second that he will let an imbecile like Trump, or his uneducated base, derail that one.

I’d heard small bits and pieces about T’s latest tweets, e.g. mentioning civil war and treason.  I can actually feel their toxicity, and choose not to read them.  I avoid it for my own health and sanity.  It does sound like things are playing out as many people here predicted, i.e. T’s further unraveling.  Unfortunately to the point of being really  dangerous.

Regarding Lindsay – what in the hell happened to him?  I rarely agreed with him politically, but at least I had some respect.  No more.  He had a history of being bipartisan, which he appears to have thrown out the window.  I can’t get a read on a level of involvement with Puty et al., but what I do pick up on is something emotional – anger masking sadness.  I feel that LG lost his anchor when McCain passed.  And in a way, lost his mind.  I mean, what weird bonding occurred when LG played golf with T?  Although LG was generally an independent thinker, I do believe that JM had a positive influence on him.  JM balanced him out.  I have read that LG lost his parents when he was 21 and raised his 13 year old sister, so I’m sure that had some effect on him.   I also sense that LG totally defines himself as a senator/politician, and without that, he’d feel empty and lost.   Not to mention the power associated with that.   I’m not at all defending him, I just find it curious, maddening, and sad.

I always thought Graham had daddy issues. I didnt realize he lost his parents early but that could explain it. He saw McCain as a father figure and now that McCain is gone, he has latched onto Trump to replace it. For some reason he conflates a facade of power and a fatherly instinct now. Maybe McCain's death brought back the loss of his father and now he is taking a "damaged person" role in almost a stockholm syndrome way with Trump.

@mas1581,

I totally agree with you.

Regarding his history, I believe LG was the first member of his family to attend college.  He was in the ROTC when his mother died of cancer, and then his father died a year later.  The service allowed Graham to attend USC so he could be near home and care for his sister as her legal guardian.

It's strange, but often when I would look at him, i would see the loneliness.  Also the sadness behind those eyes.  It's tragic that he has attached himself to such an  undeserving, despicable figure.

I am sickened by the news that a $50,000 bounty has been placed on the head of the whistleblower. Two Trump supporters, controversial conservatives Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl, are offering a $50,000 "bounty" for information about the whistleblower.And of course Trump is making it worse with his rhetoric.  I pray for the safety of this brave person.

@lenor

Theres more than a 50k bounty on the whistleblower's head. Thats just what we have heard about. Trump thinks he is a mafia boss and to exert his control and keep the fear going, he needs to make an example of the whistleblower, and any of his sources. That "treat spies like we used to" comment wasn't an empty threat. There are people now that want the person dead, and the second they testify before congress, some sniveling republican representative will turn the name over in a heartbeat looking for a good deal from Trump. If they testify, I fear they will pay a huge price, and if they dont, we will have a lot of details lost.

Move on.org has teamed up with a whistleblower protection non profit to collect donations to protect the whistleblower, to hire legal services and help the whistleblower achieve safety. I haven’t vetted it so I would advise doing that first.

@lenor, I hadn't heard that.  How awful.  That explains what I'd heard yesterday, i.e. the whistleblower was concerned because he/she felt threatened and wanted to be protected.

I encourage all of us to send protective light to the whistleblower, and to also pray for him when he's scheduled to testify before Congress.

Jeanne, thanks for the info about Moveon.org helping out.

Ques for everyone: isn't putting a bounty on the whistleblower obstruction? Can't Congress call foul?

That's not just obstruction, it's a felony. A verbal or written threat to do harm to a person is an actual crime, punishable by jail time. he House can't prosecute a president for making such threats, a federal court could, but then there's the DoJ policy about not indicting sitting presidents, so here we are.

Edit: Technically Twitler didn't issue the bounty call. It was issued by a couple of conservative wingnuts, so technically they could be prosecuted for obstruction but not a threat, as all they said was they want info leading to the person's identity. Again, Congress can't prosecute private citizens, only a court can.

My understanding is that the whistleblower is basically in witness protection. Even though we don't know who they are, enough people do so that they can't just be disappeared. Once they come out publicly to testify in Congress, it will have the dual effect of protection and increased risk of assassination by right wing nutbars.

I've seen extreme civil unrest (possibly war) coming for a long time now, but I'm not the most accurate. This could be a trigger.

I was going to answer about how it's more than obstruction, but Laura has done so already. Jacob Wohl is a joke, and he's not very bright. He's typically made fun of by the DC set. He and his partner Jack had arrest warrants for felonies issued earlier this month. See here.

As for the fundraiser for the whistleblower, the official one that I know of is located here.

Lindsay Graham turned on a dime from outspoken Anti-trumper to falling in line. Remember Trump gets dirt on everyone- and no one is perfect. T's an organized crime boss. Everyone is your friend when you have some way to expose them. Lindsay Graham was given a choice by Trump or by Mitch.

I've long suspected that Miss Graham's skeleton in the closet is their sexuality. Saddening because I'm sure it's what keeps Graham down, but the majority of us could care less.

I was just watching a YouTube and in the middle of the video, a Trump ad popped up (he was in annoying form) but then 3/4 of the way through another Orange nightmare video popped up!!  Just now- for the second time, Trump actually interrupted the video saying "tonight at 9pm my team will be bringing me a list of my supporters, I hope I see your name on that list!"... OMG it's like he is threatening everyone that they better support Him!!!!!!
