Yep...and as Southerners know.. we have that all purpose phrase "Bless your heart" to cover a wide variety of meanings ?   Vet techs are notorious for "potty mouth" as until you have been sprayed in the face with anal glands liquid or covered in ruptured abscess fluid or parvo blowout fluid or fought frantically to save a patient and lost... you just don't get the power of using all that profanity. There are times we have made sailors blush. Those that know us? know that no one fights harder for their patients and know that along with that mouth beats hearts of gold.

Also cussing is good to empathise your point across, which is why Australian judges and barristers (at least in Victoria) did not skimp on profanity when quoting someone during the court proceedings.

Sometimes, they be use as endearment, depending on the context and who's, who's within the conversation.

Personally, I think cussing in Vietnamese is much gross and offensive than the English language usage of off coloured words. At least from my background.

@kristenkit  Welcome to our forum.  Thanks for joining in the discussion. I took hydroxychloroquine for lyme disease and had a bad reaction to it.  People have been taking it as a preventative for covid-19. The French study you referenced is by a renowned scientist and shows early (very early) promise but with such a small sample size (36 people) people have to be cautious about it. If it turns out to be true then it is especially good because hydroxchloroquine is cheap and is supposed to be tolerated by a wide range of people.  If you have the link to the actual study please email to me via the contact form.  I could not find it on line. I understand it is a video.

P.S. the pharmacies where I live outside of Boston are all out of the drug due to a run on it.

just a thought.... Tonic water has quinine in it...  Plaquenil is derived from quinine...if your patient is given an azithromycin z pack.. they could drink tonic water along with it. " A liter of tonic contains around 83 mg of quinine. That means one eight-ounce glass has about 20 mg"  A small amount for sure... but something to think about if Plaquenil is not available .  Would be something to ask your dr who prescribes the z pack.

During this pandemic I was hoping we would see less of the Mad King and more of Dr. Fauci -- or even Pence (which I can't believe I'm saying) --but I've heard that T is planning on giving daily briefings.  He is now calling himself the "Wartime President" -- fancying himself a Roosevelt or Churchill, I imagine.  I'm sure that his minions behind the scenes sold him on that vision, which of course he loves.  No doubt they'll be using this rebranding in his 2020 Campaign, but hopefully the Dems have tons of footage they will use to decimate that claim.

I apologize for the unsatisfying link I provided. There wasn't much out there at that time. The clinical tests are new and not all published yet. My info came from a long time customer of mine who is a French microbiologist indirectly involved with it so I fully trust the authenticity of it. It is very recent so more news will trickle out about it in the next few days. I do t blame you for being skeptical, but thus far all this info is correct.

Yeah, I looked into that as well when I found out about hydroxychloroquine being a zinc ionophore. Unfortunately, however, tonic water also comes with LOADS of sugar, which may negate all of the benefits of the quinine.

However, apparently grapefruit pith has quinine as well, and quercetin-containing foods are also zinc ionophores: including cranberries, green tea, and ginkgo. https://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/jf5014633

I have extreme Trump supporters in my husband's family. I refuse to speak politics with them. I will get up and leave the room if it starts. Or, I'll pick up my phone and play a game or scroll social media and literally ignore them. If it's a phone conversation, I get off the phone. I think of it as similar to training a dog. Now, they know better.

If you have to, hang up on her - later you can cite phone issues. "Golly gee, I just don't know what's happening with my phone service! If this keeps up, I'm calling [cell phone provider] and giving them a piece of my mind!" ? ? ?

I have, or rather had a friend of fifty years, we were best man at each other's wedding and so on. I have not even seen him since Trump was elected and now we have not talked on the phone for over a year.  It's the same every time; things start out fine then he starts in. He cannot fathom why I don't 'like' Trump. He's become convinced this is all an act on my part, that I'm influenced by 'Hollywood' Liberals, we wind up yelling at each other. I usually hang up on him. Then he calls again like nothing happened, it's exhausting. I stopped calling him back months ago.

I was also good friends with his brother in law we share a lot of common interests including military history. He's ghosted me totally since my break off with the other guy so that's over now, too.  There was a local hobby club I used to enjoy, until a lot of those guys started showing up in their little red baseball caps.  It never ends.

I'm thankful for this and other groups.

Not all brands have sugar added:

"Schweppes and Canada Dry diet tonic water are commonly available in the U.S. Both report that their brands of diet tonic water contain 0 calories per 12-ounce serving. These manufacturers use saccharin to sweeten their diet version of tonic water. Non-nutritive or calorie-free artificial sweeteners do not contain carbohydrates."

and at least its not aspartame.

oh dear, saccharin is even worse than sugar.

@deetoo What Trump is doing lately is too little too late. My intuition has been telling me that it's the economy that will still take Trump down. In the November predictions, there are many readings of a blue wave with a blue president elected amid the mess.

I know it was predicted a while back and now Im sure that someone in the WH told him to sit down, shut up, and do what hes told. This is getting handled somewhat correctly now and by releasing that info in a presser, they have to act fast on it since the whole country now knows about it. There is a definite light at the end of the tunnel here

I am wondering if my prediction from a few days ago may come true regarding allowing the children and others who are being detained by the government into the community to give them a better chance of not getting infected:

@baba Indeed!

Or, we could all take some advice from Fantastic Mr. Fox:

Mr. Fox:  I understand what you're saying, and your comments are valuable, but I'm gonna ignore your advice.

Badger: The cuss you are.

Mr. Fox: The cuss am I? Are you cussing with me?

Badger: No, you cussing with me?

Mr. Fox: Don't cuss, and point at me!

Badger: If you're gonna cuss with somebody, you're not gonna cuss with me, you little cuss!

;)

I am wondering if our President was tested positive and hoped that he would never need to tell the truth, which explains his sudden change in tone and behavior, as someone would do when facing his own mortality.

I've got a bottle of Great Value tonic water. Good thing because I'm sure there will be a run on it. I use sometimes for my aching legs. Anyway my bottle has 23 g of sugar.

Hi, I've been a lurker here for a while, just thought this was interesting in light of the predictions people on here have made.

There's a new scandal about prominent GOP Senators selling stock while still telling the public COVID-19 would be no problem.  Unlike just about every scandal in recent memory, this one is getting traction on the right, with Tucker Carlson calling for Sen. Burr's resignation. This seems to line up with what some on here have predicted.
