Bumping this thread due to the contrary rulings regarding Mefiprestone (abortion pill).
A judge in TX ruled that the decades old FDA approval of the drug is invalid.
Circuit Court in WA ruled an injunction against FDA from removing approval.
Basically, a clusterf*ck.
So what is a country to do when large swaths of the national judiciary, especially its highest court, go rogue and undermine the republic?
I have no ideas. Anyone? Bueller?
@laura-f In this case, SCOTUS has to step in and resolve it. Because there are conflicting rulings, SCOTUS will usually fast-track it, but given what's going on with them right now, who knows when it will happen? The DOJ has appealed and filed to have the TX ruling stayed until the appeal is completed.
You know when you are glancing at the headlines and come to a full-stop as your stomach sinks to the floor after reading something chilling?
For me, that moment happened twice today (the other I will put in the Russia/ Ukraine section).
The Alabama S.C. ruled Friday that frozen embryos are children. Somehow I missed that bit of news in all the global headlines with Trump, Navalny and Ukraine taking center stage. But this is huge as it will impact hundreds of thousands of people. People can now be held liable for destroying embryos, even by accident Says the Alabama S.C.
IVF treatments will be greatly impacted. This will open the floodgates for other states to do the same.
There is sooooo much wrong here I don't even know where to begin.
Vote as if you life depends on it because it does.
