FYI, I moved the last eight posts from the Great Turning thread because they concerned the latest in a series of Texas draconian laws that fulfills my July 2016 vision of a new negative development in the U.S. that would start in Texas. Those posts got put at the end of this thread even though they were actually posted a few days ago. So if one of these posts is yours, and you wondered how your name showed up here in today, now you know. :-) These are great posts, by the way, and I wanted to be sure people saw them.

Moving on from the latest Texas draconia, or as @lovendures put it, bombosis, or was it bombo-bombosia? Today I listened to our Attorney General announce the federal injunction he is placing on the Texas Abortion law. (if you hit a paywall, the speech is all over the Internet) It is gratifying to hear a learned and kind-hearted man speak about this issue and all with the power of the federal judicial system behind him.
I am certain both Attorney General Garland and President Biden are well-versed in the actions the Kennedy brothers took that day. I am not certain if the situation in Texas is as dangerous or more dangerous than in Alabama in 1963. Anyone have thoughts about this?
@jeanne-mayell just as.. and remember.. George Wallace ended up in a wheel chair.

@jeanne-mayell It feels like Texas has descended into fascism. We’re all watching and waiting for a remedy. May AG Garland’s actions be the first steps to save the state and save our country.

Yes, remembering Alabama and Mississippi in 1963, gives us hope in the present.
@leec21 I forgot to welcome you to the Forum! Welcome! Thank you for posting my words. I can hardly believe I wrote that, but yes, it is exactly how I feel. I hope you will stick with us so we can get to know you better. Thank you again for popping out from the shadows and saying hello.

So much is happening in Texas that this hasn't really even made the news outside of Texas.
Gov. Abbott signed a bill on Sept. 9th which seems pretty fascist to me. Certainly is disturbing. Social media companies may not ban/censor individuals for their opinions. What that means is that the Texas law stops social media companies from labeling content as false or misleading or from banning the false information spreaders from their platform for breaking the posting rules on misinformation.
