@billy-mike My sister lives in Iowa City! She was a University professional Librarian for 40 years. I love all the odd little connections we have as we gather in this community of care, this community of dearness and comfort and Light.

Well, I finally went ahead and got my fourth COVID shot yesterday.  It's been 24 hours and I feel fine except for a slightly sore arm.   Studies say that the fourth dose will boost one's protection against Omicron up until about 8 weeks after immunization, which doesn't seem very long.

I hope that an Omicron-specific vax will be available soon.  Fall has been mentioned as a time in a couple of news articles (e.g. https://abcnews.go.com/Health/pfizer-covid-19-booster-addresses-omicron-variants-fall/story?id=84084864)

Anyone have any "vibes" on that?

  • @ana I got mine on Friday night.  My arm feels like it should just fall off.   I know I was running a low temp and am very tired but other than that I’m good.   We are currently dealing with very warm humid weather so I’m not outdoors.   Just organizing closets.   I’m in NJ and it seems everyone is getting COVID.   Hopefully things will get better. In the meantime I still use my mask at work and stay away from large gatherings indoors.  So far it’s worked. Hope you are well.

I got my fourth shot awhie ago now, I have felt safe to be maskless and avoid crowds. I work online for part of my work and in schools after the school day. My art groups are tiny now with kids playing spring sports, I feel safe and protected, after a long anxious time. Just so grateful to be alive.

That's wonderful that you feel safe now, after feeling so anxious.  Keep the faith! 😊

My husband and I received our fourth shot, as I have put us on a 6-month schedule, lol. This time it was Pfizer, when all my other shots were Moderna. No problems at all. I've read mixing the vaccine brands can enhance immune response: https://covid19.nih.gov/news-and-stories/mixing-matching-covid-19-vaccine-booster-doses

I still wear a mask to shop, though I'm in the distinct minority. It's hard to tell if covid is affecting other people because the usual reporting has disappeared and most people seem to have thrown caution to the wind. But I guess I'll continue to be wary until a covid-specific antiviral pill is invented and in wide distribution.

I was signed up to get my 4th dose today.  This time Moderna instead of Pfizer as I also heard it better to mix vaccines.  Well, although I signed up for Moderna, the pharmacy gets them one day a week ( government issued) and so I will need to wait until Thursday.  I could have gotten Pfizer but I really would prefer to mix them.

@lovendures

Thinking along the same lines, my second booster was Moderna after straight Pfizer. It packed a wallop but I have had pretty strong reactions to all except the second shot. I allow two days of down time for COVID vaccinations.
