The Vaccine - Many issues to discuss

@michellepazicni I also have autoimmune disease. After many years in remission I flared in January but still had vaccines for covid in March/April. The CDC does say outcomes are tougher with covid than the vaccine. I also have flared from simple flu shots in the past and was diagnosed after a flu shot. But honestly the symptoms were coming on before the flu shot years ago.

Yesterday I had a third Moderna and I feel like I finally got the immunization everyone else did. I had to take strong meds during the last flare, nullifying the vaccine.

I read stories of a researcher who died recently after his second bout of covid. I know it’s scary but I also feel you would have support energetically for getting it. If you do, I am here for you.

I expect conditions have not peaked yet and we have months to go.

@michellepazicni I know five people with autoimmune diseases and I have an issue myself from having chronic lyme for many years. They all got the RNA vaccine and were fine, as was I. The good news is that you can get it now! Get Moderna if you can.

The data also concurs with me and my friends' experiences.  I just know I wouldn't do well if I got covid, and it's not easy to avoid it it completely. So for me it was well worth it. My side effects weren't much different from most people.

I don't know where to begin with this unbelieveable story concerning our family. We live in the Bay Area, CA - we built our house when our children were entering grade school to provide them with a top education in the school district. Our daughter, went on to college and after graduating worked for a large ( GSK ) pharmacuetical company as a rep. She did very well with all the lay offs in the past 12 yrs. She married a guy from "the valley" which is very right wing politically. We were disappointed , but 13 yrs. ago it was still somewhat civil. I always thought it might be best they were "on the same page " politically because I really don't know how a marriage can stay together today with different "realities" . So, we just tried not to talk about politics much. Last summer she quit her job and they moved back to the small college town they both loved so much. She is home for the time being with our two granddaughters ( 5 & 10yr ) Although we miss them, we can still drive to visit ( 4 hr. ) The town they live in now is right wing, so noone that I talked to there is vaccinated or hardly wears a mask. The logic is unbelieveable- what logic ????  Anyway, we had a huge family argument concerning the safety of the vaccine with her ( you can only imagine what was said about the scare tactics ). My son in law was exposed to 2 co workers last week with Covid ( they are vaccinated, he is not ) So, he is home for 2 weeks. I am worried about the children getting it or any of them. So, she sent me a note saying that they will be busy getting ready to move if the state requires children to be vaccinated. What ? Move out of state because of a vaccine ? Nothing to say to that statement. They would give up a beautiful house, lots of friends and family, a happy life, good job, just to flea to a state not requiring  the vaccine that could save their lives !  The cult mentality and fear basis along with lies and exaggerations is just mind boggling and very sad to me. I think we have "lost" her to another reality- my husband said it's like Aliens took over her brain. I will be meditating on this for quite some time. Thanks for listening- I had to vent after such a shocking thing......

@michellepazicni  in a recent study which I found to be the best of the variant studies, done by the Mayo Clinic of their 18,000 members during July when the variant was dominant in the U.S., they found the Pfizer vaccine to be only 43% effective against the delta variant while Moderna was 76% effective. Both were effective at preventing hospitalization however. Also Pfizer has been vocal about saying people need a booster after six months of receiving their vaccine.

@michellepazicni I want to make sure you understand that if you are concerned, you should ask your doctor.  My posts are general,  not specific to you.  I'm just providing the information I've read about who and who should not get vaccinated and my own anecdotal experience. Also if you are worried, it's always safest to check with your doctor. Check this link on the contraindications.

The Moderna website lists the contraindications for the vaccine. Scroll down for full disclosures.

They want people to be prepared if they have reason to believe they could have an acute allergic reaction, like anaphylactic shock.  Some people in that situation elected to get their vaccines in a hospital setting rather than a local pharmacy. They also mention two conditions that happened to people, but understand that the information I've read has shown that with some exceptions, it is more risky not to get vaccinated than to get vaccinated.

I know of two people who decided to get their vaccines at a hospital site in case they had an adverse reactions.

@jeanne-mayell I understand. Unfortunately, since I don't have health insurance, I don't really have a doctor. I do see Dr. Tenpenny for my Hashimoto's, only because she is the only one that ever listened and allows me to dose my meds as I need to, and we all know she's not the one to ask lol so I feel I have to do this on my own.

@michellepazicni I just added to my previous post to you to read the Moderna site's contraindications as well as possibly consider getting vaccinated in a hospital setting so they will have support in case you don't react well.  The only caveat I could discern from the Moderna site for immunosuppressive people is that they may not get the full immune reaction from the vaccine. In that case, they suggest getting another vaccine after a certain waiting period so you can boost your immune response.

@jeanne-mayell Thanks, I appreciate the information! I hadn't seen that about Moderna being better.
