@lovendures

I was in almost the exact same boat a couple days ago!!

Had a service call scheduled. Normally when I schedule, I tell the person I schedule with not to send anyone who has an issue with masks because that's the rule for our house; not negotiable, but I forgot to do so this time.

Guy shows up, no mask. I ask if he has one and he says yes; I say ok, I need you to wear it when you're inside. He says no problem. He comes in a couple minutes later and is wearing a bandana up over his mouth and nose (basically useless but better than nothing, I suppose) Then he proceeds to tell me that it has been "scientifically proven" that masks are "extremely dangerous."

I bit my tongue and gave him a hard stare and said nothing in response (a major miracle, according to my family ? ) and went in another room while he worked. Fortunately it was a short job.

Never again with that company. Idiots.

Grim milestone.  The US death total for Covid 19 just surpassed the US estimated death total for the 1918 influenza.

At this point, at least 675,446 Americans have been confirmed to have died since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University, with thousands of Americans lives still being lost each day.

675,000 were estimated to have died in the US from the 1918 pandemic, though many more are likely to have died due a variety of reasons.

There were more deaths than births in Alabama last year, a first since the state started keeping records and officials said it's directly tied to the coronavirus pandemic.

Last year, 64,714 Alabamians died and only 57,641 were born, the state announced Friday

Our state literally shrunk in 2020,” state health officer Dr. Scott Harris said at a Covid briefing. He said it’s the first time in the state’s recorded history that this has happened — saying it’s never “been close” before, not even during World War II or the 1918 flu pandemic.

@jessi1978 My intuition kept telling me that COVID will devastate red states, especially now that both Texas and Florida are seeing a rise in COVID cases.

@enkasongwriter Please define "devastate red states." That's a powerful statement.

@jeanne-mayell When I say "devastate red states," we are seeing the rise of cases and deaths in red states when other places are seeing a decline.

"The View" host Sunny Hostin and guest host Ana Navarro both tested positive for breakthrough cases of Covid-19 ahead of an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris.

Harris did not interact with Hostin or Navarro before the show, according to a White House official. Harris went on to conduct the interview from a remote location after a delay.
The positive results were announced by "The View" host Joy Behar during the show after Hostin and Navarro were asked to leave the set. Hostin and Navarro were seated at the table with the other hosts at the beginning of the program.

The tables were cleaned and disinfected after they left the set, Behar said, who continued hosting the show on set with her co-host Sara Haines. Behar said Hostin and Navarro were both fully vaccinated.

"I hope that you're in a safe spot right now. We did everything we could to make sure that you were safe because we value you so much," Behar told Harris at the start of their interview.

Harris responded: "Thank you, Joy, and to everyone. Listen, Sunny and Ana are strong women and I know they're fine but it really also does speak to the fact that they're vaccinated and vaccines really do make all the difference. Because otherwise, we would be concerned about hospitalization or worse."

Wow!  I am glad they were testing everyone and wish them both well.  Hopefully they will remain asymptomatic.  I can't wait to hear what Ana has to say about this, you know she is going to say something.
