@lovendures  and this from MSNBC   https://www.msnbc.com/11th-hour/watch/notorious-anti-mask-qanon-supporter-dies-of-covid-120807493727

How many more will die because they refuse to see? or hear? or learn?

I don't follow the riff raff because it depresses me too deeply, but - I have a feeling they look at these deaths as "suspicious" and "in retaliation for speaking out against the greater conspiracy."

There really is no helping some people, as much light as I'd like to wish them.

So, I just had the oddest thing happen.

We have a plumbing service we have used for over 20 years and I know the owner (he used to be our next-door neighbor).   I have gotten to know the techs over the years, many have been with the company for year.  They have been to our house a few times during the pandemic.  We have never had an issue and the techs love our dog, I mean love him.  Last week we had a problem with our toilet and a long time tech came out, wore a mask and was a delight to have in the house.  He also plays with my dog who will try to steal his equipment.  It is a game for both of them actually and they are always delighted to see each other.

So today a different tech, also one who has come out before many times previously, came to fix a plumbing issue we now have with our kitchen sink.

This tech didn't have a mask on. I have one on myself, I alway do when we have a worker in the house.  I asked him as he began to look at the situation if he happened to have a mask, he doesn't have one with him.

I like the guy.  I don't want to make him feel awkward and I want him to know I don't have an issue with him personally, but I realized this wasn't not going to work if he doesn't have a mask.  I walk into the other room while I figure out how I am going to handle the situation.  It isn't easy figuring out what to say and I don't want to make this guy uncomfortable.  But I am really uncomfortable.

He shortly calls out to me  and lets me know he has an assessment for the issue.  I ask how long the process will take (an hour) and I ask if he would be willing to wear a mask while doing it if I provided one for him.  He said he would not be willing and explained that he would be touching his dirty hands to his mask under the sink and he couldn't do that, it would be a problem.  (Yes, that would be a problem for him I can imagine). But still, he has no mask for even communication and walking through the house.  How can you not have one available for that?  So I explained that my husband and I have an agreement that we don't have anyone inside our house without a mask.   That I haven't run into that issue with anyone who has done work in our home previously, they have always worn a mask.  (I have only ever needed to ask someone once, usually they see we have a mask and wear one without asking).

It was a most uncomfortable situation.

In the end the company arranged to have the tech from last week come out tomorrow and fix the sink. The one who wore a mask. They company will address the mask situation with their  techs during their weekly meeting next week.  I made sure to let them know I have no other issue with the person who is kind and competent. He was kind when stating he doesn't have a mask.  But I have never run into a situation where someone who was working in my home would not even carry a mask to wear inside my house or any house, especially if asked.  That it wasn't an issue last week and I didn't imagine it would become an issue today.   I also agreed that if the next tech needed to remove his mask while working under the sink, I would be ok with that. ( I get adjusting your mask with grimy hands could be a health issue on their end, and one would need to likely make some adjustments while laying on their back doing work). I am reasonable.  But not even having a mask in your possession...not wearing one while walking through my house or wearing one while speaking with me when I have offered you a brand new disposable one...  yeah that isn't going to work.

So, yeah, that just happened.
