So here I am again with new covid  totals over a week  at my daughter's school/district.  It isn't good.  Of course it isn't good. We all knew it wouldn't be good.

Why am I continuing to post this information?  Does it do any good?

Well, I am trying to shed light on the reality of this horrible anti-mask, anti- human, anti-life policy from Abbot and other like minded Governor's.  It is my way of documenting this insanity so others are aware.  It is my personal way of call BS.

If you have a loved one in school right now (staff or student) and they are required to wear a mask, count your blessings.  They are learning/teaching in an environment of privilege.

Last week there were 255 total cases district wide.  215 students and 40 staff members.

The school she teaches at had 18 cases, 14 students and 4 staff.

A week has passed now but only 4 school days as there were no classes Monday due to the holiday. In one week there are now 428 cumulative documented cases, 366 of whom are children, 62 staff.

My daughter’s school went from 18 cases to 30.   24 students and 6 staff.

Her elementary school has the highest count for any elementary school and even some middle schools in the district.

On a side note, she has been teaching this week in a music room with no air conditioning as her air conditioner is broken and will be fixed... nobody knows when that will occur.  Getting a part may be an issue. The unit is only a year old.

It has be a rough week year.  She is very stressed and needs to completely rewrite the rest of her lesson plans for the week so she can be in a different,  smaller  air-conditioned room.  That temporary room  is filled with student desks so there will be no movement able to be done in the room. Writing lesson plans for 6 different grade levels takes a long time.  She bought a fan and brought it to school today and tried it out but that didn't really help.

It will be 95 degrees tomorrow.

@lovendures I’m sorry you and your daughter are dealing with this.  I live in NJ.  Many schools start today and some are fighting the mandate and not wearing masks in the school. Who will enforce this?   I feel for the kids who are not yet vaccinated.   Like my grandchildren.  It’s a huge worry and so selfish.  Deliberately putting kids at risk. I don’t get it.  It feels like we will never get out of this.

I noticed tonight that now I like Howard Stern. Can that be possible? Well, tonight it is possible because here is what he says to anti-vaxxers:

BTW, even CNN likes him tonight. They reported this:

Stern said people who won't get vaccinated are "idiots" and called for vaccinations to be mandatory. "When are we gonna stop putting up with the idiots in this country and just say it's mandatory to get vaccinated? F--- 'em. F--- their freedom. I want my freedom to live," he said. "I want to get out of the house already. I want to go next door and play chess. I want to go take some pictures. This is bull----."
Stern, who is vaccinated, is also frustrated over Covid patients who chose not to get vaccinated causing hospitals to be overwhelmed.

"If you have a heart attack or any kind of problem, you can't even get into the E.R. And I'm really of mind to say, 'Look, if you didn't get vaccinated and you got Covid, you don't get into a hospital.'"
For emphasis, he added, "You had the cure and you wouldn't take it."

@jeanne-mayell Howard Stern and his wife Beth are huge animal rescue workers and they donate large amounts of money and foster many many homeless cats. He is a huge animal lover so I will love him for all the animal rescue he and his wife do.

@saibh Yes, their twisted messages and voices are trying to upset all of Cape Cod school boards. I’m a member of our regional schools committee (board) and we have a neighboring town woman who ran unsuccessfully (thank you Goddess!) who is pushing their new narrative—(of the CC Patriots/Trumpets—headed up by an ex con who drives around in a camouflage Humvee w a mock machine gun mounted on top) that they are inclusive of all people and merely are making sure that the Conservative agenda is adhered to equally. Ironically, they’re the ones who leave out the truth!
We’re noticing that these hate groups are now offended that they are viewed as such. Their twisted mindset does confuse many people—esp people who aren’t used to or skilled in real critical thinking, the history and use of propaganda, cognitive dissonance, and the now more than ever laborious task of proper research. These “patriots” are exhausting in their ignorance, obstinance, and divisive rhetoric.

Our Committee successfully kept mandatory mask wearing in place (at least til Oct 1, I believe). Still, they’re persistent and I drove by a group of these so-called “patriots” earlier (after overpass FOR THE PEOPLE ACT & CALL YOUR SENATORS sign duty). Some women don Betsy Ross costumes and many carry Betsy Ross flags, police lives matter flags, etc. Good grief—I want to ask the women “Are you wearing too tight corsets also?!?” But I don’t engage. They have no intention of letting up and sadly, on Cape, get lots of support.

@jeanne-mayell

He once gave Twitler so much free press-I hope he regrets it-but he seems like he has matured somewhat.

Dee Snider is telling it like it is about COVID and the vaccine. I have always loved him lol

I found this interesting article from the Washington Post about the 1918 pandemic.  Specifically how Los Angeles handled the second wave compared to other cities. It was written last fall.

Man, there are some of the same issue we are facing now compared to 100 years.

Below is a portion of the article written last year but worth a look now that we are on a 3rd deadly wave.

Weeks passed as cases of a lethal new illness spread farther and farther west. For residents of Los Angeles, fear grew as the second wave of the flu pandemic washed across the country in fall of 1918, just as a surge of coronavirus cases would do a century later.

Los Angeles leaders didn’t wait for the contagion to arrive. With reports of infections overwhelming Eastern cities, officials outlawed public gatherings. Their goal was to minimize the spread of disease, while also avoiding panic.

Meanwhile, city health officials faced pressure related to an upcoming mass rally intended to raise funds to support the war effort. With just nine days left to reach its quota, Los Angeles was $27 million behind in its Liberty Loan fundraising. The upcoming Liberty Day celebration was intended to bridge that gap — even if doing so would doom the city to a deadly outbreak.

City leaders met Oct. 10 and made the tough decision to postpone Liberty Day events and close all schools, churches and places of amusement. This included the city’s 83 movie theaters.

“That we would be compelled sooner or later to place a ban upon public gatherings is certain. Therefore it is the best judgement to do it at once, if by so doing we may stamp out the disease in a few days,” said Los Angeles Mayor Frederick Woodman. “By the action of the health department, we may be saved untold losses in life and endless discomforture.”

(In fact, Philadelphia’s refusal to cancel its Liberty Loan parade in late September led to 1,000 deaths in 10 days, making the city one of the hardest hit by the pandemic.)

Despite the lack of any public fundraising events, Los Angeles managed to rally in the final moments and exceed its Liberty Loan goal by an estimated $3.5 million.

With 307 cases of new infections reported across the city, John Cawley, chancellor for the diocese of Los Angeles issued a statement to all Catholics that no services would be held: “The people are exhorted to offer up prayers in their own homes to Almighty God to take away the epidemic that is at present so seriously threatening the community.”
