Rachel Maddow is in self quarantine after close contact with someone who tested positive for covid19.  So far she is negative.

Pfizer's vaccine is reportedly 90% effective and they are waiting for 2 months into trials to apply for FDA emergency authorization. No serious adverse effects either. Sounds like they are doing it the right way. They distanced themselves from Trump's warp speed and only took R&D money from German govt, not US. Should start rollout in a couple weeks. This is very promising

@mas1581 I think it's wonderful that they have a vaccine, but it's not practical. It has to be kept so cold, I don't see it coming to my small town very soon.

From my reading about Covid it appears that many viruses, bacteria and parasites that have caused major diseases in the past have been zoonotic, meaning they had their origin in animals. A good depiction of the animal connection can be seen in the Movie "Contagion" released in 2011, but so relevant to our times.
