@journeywithme2 yes.  Not a good feeling at all!  There's one opening near us in WA that apparently has no PLUMBING indoors, so the quarantined will have to use an outdoor porto-potty. I'm not sure what the details are, but It doesn't sound kosher. https://www.pnwlive.com/blog/2020/03/05/deeply-disenfranchised-white-center-to-house-coronavirus-quarantine/

564 people in the US have the virus in 34 states.

Huge Jump.  Guess those test kits are getting some use.

16 million people in lockdown in Italy.

Stocks worldwide are collapsing Monday, as oil prices tanked amid continued uncertainty due in part to the spread of the novel coronavirus, triggering selloffs worldwide.

Now for the Good News!

  • Following the discharge of most patients, 11 of the 14 makeshift hospitals in Wuhan that were built for treatment of the new coronavirus have closed, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV said.

'The White House overruled health officials who wanted to recommend that elderly and physically fragile Americans be advised not to fly on commercial airlines because of the new coronavirus, a federal official told The Associated Press.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention submitted the plan this week as a way of trying to control the virus, but White House officials ordered the air travel recommendation be removed, said the official who had direct knowledge of the plan. Trump administration officials have since suggested certain people should consider not traveling, but they have stopped short of the stronger guidance sought by the CDC.'

NBC reports

Members of Congress are becoming increasingly anxious about coronavirus and there is growing pressure on leadership to take steps to protect lawmakers — even potentially recessing for a period of weeks, according to two Democratic sources.

@lovendures

Aging members of Congress should indeed be concerned about the rapidly advancing numbers of COVid-19 (one of a number of coronaviruses, the umbrella term even for the common cold, hence all the new naming we now hear)

Two members of Congress, Sen. Ted Cruz and congressman Paul Gosar, say they are isolating themselves after determining they had contact at a political conference with a man infected with the coronavirus.

Cruz says he had brief contact with the man at the Conservative Political Action Conference nearly two weeks ago and would spend the next few days at his home in Texas until a full 14 days had passed since their interaction.

Gosar says he had sustained contact with the man at CPAC and that he and three members of his senior staff are under self-quarantine. The office of the Arizona Republican will be closed for the week.

https://apnews.com/0319b9ac8c57805a2e2f5146f0254ca8

Besides Cruz and Gosar, the COAC schedule listed three other senators and 12 house members scheduled to speak.

They included No. 2 House GOP leader Steve Scalise of Louisiana, No. 3 Republican leader Liz Cheney of Wyoming and congressman Mark Meadows of North Carolina, who has since become the White House chief of staff.Also on the schedule was Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, the wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

So far none of these additional attendees have discussed whether they shook hands with the Covid-19 positive attendee or announced personal self-quarantine measures.

I’ve been feeling so heavy, depressed and tired of late, it’s a literal pain in my chest, a heaviness in my stomach, work is chaotic and that is reflected in everything happening in the world too. First the bushfires and now the coronavirus.
I really want to be part of the wave of positivity to get us out of this chaos. How is this community coming together to achieve that?

Dear all: My husband and I have saved up for the past few years for a trip at the end of April (4/23-5/1), for an 8 day/9 night trip to a resort in Playa Mujeres, Mexico. We are scheduled to fly out of JFK (direct flight to Cancun) and stay at a very nice all-inclusive. We contacted Delta vacations and they said we have until March 23 to cancel if we choose to and get most of our money back.

I'm so unsure at this moment what to do, we still have a couple weeks to decide if we want to cancel, but if anyone would like to weigh in on what they feel or see about going with this whole coronovirus situation, I'd be so very appreciative.

From the beginning, the Trump administration’s attempts to forestall an outbreak of the the coronavirus/COVID-19 was marked by a raging internal debate about how far to go in telling Americans the truth.

Even as the government’s scientists and leading health experts raised the alarm early and pushed for aggressive action, they faced resistance and doubt at the White House ,especially from the president over concerns about the financial market and panic among the public.

This article has a really great timeline as events unfolded and affected the White House and how one woman actually provided information a day ahead of the clamping down order went out.

Inside the Trump Administration, Debates Rage Over What to Tell Public:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/07/us/politics/trump-coronavirus.html

And now that so many members of Congress and President Trump and V.P. Pence all were in attendance at the CPAC convention and at least two of them are in self quarantine after repeated hand shaking with a now identified COVID-19 patient, I can only the rage and worry now going on!

@hekamaat Welcome!!!

we now have Wednesday night healing meditationswhich you can attend on line or you can meditate off line when we do   There is an off line group meditation tonight on the full moon that @Michele organizes.. Go to the thread near the top of the forum that begins with Baths of light. Michele is a gift.

We have threads that are solely devoted to good news.

We havea thread where you can post if you are down and ask for a boost.  We encourage people to ask for help when they are feeling bad and to do it in the thread that is devoted to that subject.   I have seen people get so much love in that thread. When my beloved cat died, I posted there and community members soothed and helped me in their light.

The whole philosophy here is to (1) encourage each other, (2) share news and when we do share news, to do so using responsible and reliable sources and to avoid factoids. (3) people need to vent their frustrations with the administration and they do.  (4) We also have sections devoted to intuition, the Tarot, posting our dreams and interpreting them, and more on the process of intuition.

@hekamaat

We share, we deeply care for one another and we pass on as much education links to better inform one another.

Tonight I am holding a Full Moon Mediation for any one free to spend a few minutes at home in meditation with all of us. Jeanne-Mayell shares an online group meditation on Wednesday called Circle of Love listed under events.

We have many,  many threads here you can open and read on many helpful and often very uplifting and therefore healing topics from video mediations by Jeanne to music to listen to, books or poetry--our lists on on.

I welcome you Heekamaat and send blessings to you for you willingness to share here and send you healing light and love that tonight's moon will begin a process of releasing your heaviness bit by bit as we all go through these challenging times

Such a difficult decision.  Here are a few thoughts to consider.

How is your health, both of you?  Any diseases and health conditions which might be exasperated in you catch catch the virus?  If so, consider not going.

Do either of you speak Spanish?  If there was an emergency, would you be able to communicate in a hospital?  How are the hospitals in the area?

How would either of you feel if you were placed in a lockdown at the hotel for an extended length of time?

Can you obtain extra medicine you may need  for a longer unplanned stay.

Follow the news to see were in Mexico the virus might be vigilant.

The Gov, has "almost" said don't fly for long periods of time.  It looks like the W.H. has put their thumb of certain statements about travel, made some statements sound not quite as strong.

Would you be ok with being place in an official quarantine in the US upon arrival back to the US if things become worse?

Continue to check for advisories up until deadline time.  Are things improving or getting worse?

Re: cruise ships - same here, and frankly I believe that as an industry it should not exist. Or at least not in the ridiculous super-sized form they have become. Issues of contagion aside, the manufacture, maintenance, repair, remodel and just general running those boats is so bad for the environment. Nothing is regulated well because so much occurs in international waters. And while I understand they employ a lot of people, they are mostly not well paid (I know this from firsthand personal experience - I used to know people who worked on them in different capacities). I'd rather see those service workers working elsewhere, whether in on land hospitality or rebuilding infrastructures or whatever. I can't even stand going on work-obligated 4 hour holiday cruises around a bay, let alone to be trapped on a floating hotel with 4000+ other people (all strangers) in the middle of the ocean and then jostling my way through tourist trap ports.I really don't enjoy traveling with fellow Americans, especially the cruise crowd.

Look around this forum. There are other threads I think you will find uplifting, especially under "How to Cope and Even Thrive in Difficult Times".

There are many opportunities to particpate "virtually" in this community beyond commenting on threads. There are weekly and monthly "meditation circles", there are ways to share things with the community and interact. Welcome and I hope you find what you're looking for.

Same exact time frame here for us. We're supposed to go to NoLa for JazzFest, and while hotel and air refunds won't be a problem, the tickets to the fest are expensive, not insured, and not refundable nor transferable. So we're waiting and seeing. If they cancel, so be it. If they don't, we might just drive if we're not sick ourselves (what the heck - it would probably be empty, right?). They just cancelled South by Southwest, which is bigger, so who knows.  The next 4 weeks are crucial.

In your case, I'd postpone. If Delta is willing to give you money back, that's great, but you can also ask about postponing and using what you've paid as a credit (you'll lose less money that way) for an identical vacation in 6+ months (by which time this crisis should have passed).

I interrupt this blog for this important message:

Cruise-Ship Passengers Demand to Be Housed at Mar-a-Lago

From the Borowitz Report: Cruise Ships Passengers demand to be housed at Mar-a-lago.

@triciact

in addition to what I wrote above, will you have health insurance for the trip??  If not, can you buy it?

Also, you don't need to publicly answer the questions, just think about them on your own.It could also be that places you wish to view and experience will be ordered closed.  That has certainly happened in other countries.

Would postponing allow you to enjoy it more in the future, without all the worries?

Write a list of pros and cons.

LMAO - love Andy Borowitz. The goodness his humor brings is so incredible, I think he's a bodhisattva.

Yes I'm thinking of postponing, however, I'm wondering if being in a warm, 86-88 degree climate on the beach is better than even being here at that time. For my husband and I we are both pretty healthy (at the moment Thank God). We don't really speak much Spanish and we could bring extra medication if needed.

It's the air travel part and JFK that scares me, although I bet so many folks will cancel their trips it might be a 1/2 empty plane.

However, all the points you mentioned are what we are tossing around. I'm still so appreciative you brought them out though. Thank you both!
