Haha great minds and in my case only have my cell phone to type makes me the early bird with far too many site glitches and a slow phone!  But yes, vodka as a hand sanitizer is hilariously expensive too.

Buying bottles of booze anywhere and telling everyone...its for medicinal purposes. No wonder it was trending.

So many threads so many posts no one can keep up with all of them anymore much less sleep deprived me .My info is being reposted too sometimes even by myself ?

Hi Michele!

I brought up the Tito's announcement too, but in the other virus preparation thread.  My friend noticed people at Costco buying Vodka and rubbing  alcohol and then she put two and two together.  ( Not any hand sanitizer left).  Tito's has a good sense of humor in how they have worded there announcements to the public. .  Imagine people buying vodka for health protection.

I buy vodka for mental health!! Just as important. Also tequila - which has prebiotics reportedly.

Sometimes the only time I see something is if it is mentioned a second time.  I love that you found the same thing too Michele, especially since it is such an odd thing to find trending.

The border between the West Bank and Israel was closed by mutual agreement between Israel and the Palestinian authority after 7 people in Bethlehem contracted the virus.( Israel is dealing with it's own 17 person spread ).    Nobody is allowed to cross into or out of the city.  This closure happened without warning trapping a group of Americans (and likely others)  in a Hotel in Bethlehem until further notice. They are pretty afraid.

Two schools in my town just closed due to a parent who tested positive. The parent had attended a conference where 4 people tested positive. This is a Boston suburb.

"They're here."

This doesn't 't surprise me, but to see it in big bold letters as a headline on CNN is a bit jarring.

Older Americans are advised to stay home.

Amid a coronavirus outbreak in the United States, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is encouraging older people and people with severe chronic medical conditions to "stay at home as much as possible."

This advice is on a CDC website that was posted Thursday, according to a CDC spokeswoman.
Early data suggests older people are twice as likely to have serious illness from the novel coronavirus, according to the CDC.

The CDC guidance comes as two top infectious disease experts with ties to the federal government have advised people over 60 and those with underlying health problems to strongly consider avoiding activities that involve large crowds, such as traveling by airplane, going to movie theaters or concerts, attending family events, shopping at crowded malls, and going to religious services.

i am in Suffolk county. A little scary and yet not surprised with the jump of 44 to 76 now infected. With the subways and mass transit we have between Long Island and the boroughs.

Trump weekends in Florida as fear of the Coronavirus rises.

Meanwhile the state of New York, finally giving up on the federal government's lack of test kits, has been doing its own testing around the clock.  Finding 76 confirmed cases, they are declaring a state of emergency.

Lacking test kits, we now have a situation in the United States where infected people may be freely infecting others.  Once testing actually starts happening more readily, the number of cases could explode.

Did you see his visit to the CDC?

He can’t believe that this comes natural to him?  He knows so much.

The Coronavirus has officially arrived in our community, too, with a male patient in his 50’s admitted to our local hospital.  My husband volunteers at that hospital and I go to physical therapy there.  Evidently, the patient was admitted a few days ago.  We are an hour south of Seattle and hospital nurses told my husband they didn’t expect to see many COVID19 patients here.  That was two weeks ago.

Thanks to our community and lots of helpful posts on this site, we are prepared to stay home as much as possible.  However, I worry about the wine stash.  Do we have enough?  I wish I had gone to the cannabis store, too.  Sorry.  Just keeping it real.  This is a public service announcement to those who still have time to make those purchases.

Hahahaha! My mental health went out to lunch and still hasn't returned!

You two are both over the edge and as soon as I return I'm joining the fun and I barely drink. But desperate times call for necessary measures!

One day this thread might be used as a window into how and when people prepared for this virus and how their moods changed as the virus spread.

I heard on the evening news that of the 21 passengers (as of that newscast)  19 were crew. And out of them 7 had just been working on the Diamond Princess !

And the Grand"s next scheduled docking is in Astoria, Oregon. Needless to say that cities residents are quite concerned.

I live in Salem which is 3 or so hours of away. And I just recently learned that a local family of five (2 adults and 3 young children)are all being tested for COVID-19.

This is still at the earliest stage without public announcement. Talk about bringing the issue closer to home. Really praying they will all test negative big time.

O

Italy is putting 11 regions including Venice on total lockdown until April 3rd. You will need a pass to get out.

I am a bit shaken hearing my husband read this news to me tonight.  ?.  The seriousness of this is sinking in...

Love and healing.

Fearless Leader said in his "speech" at the CDC - " “Anybody who wants a test can get a test,” Trump said during a tour of the CDC’s laboratories in Atlanta. He swiftly revised the statement, saying moments later: “Anybody who right now and yesterday, anybody that needs a test gets a test.”

Truth is? Peoples doctors are having to fight tooth and nail to get patients tested and we have new cases popping up everyday.. plenty of folks who have been in contact with those already diagnosed are getting sick and yet to be tested here in Georgia.

@jessi1978

He failed miserably in that appearance... No leadership whatsoever.. just a braggarts childish speech touting his "superior knowledge, why he cancelled then cam again anyways (was told a CDC worker had the virus..but then ..it wasn't and he came - Oh Joy NOT!)  Listen to this bs here: https://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory/president-trump-calls-off-planned-trip-cdc-atlanta-69433278

Somehow his lies do not reassure me... but then again... neither does it alarm me... as a member of the working poor without health insurance for the last 15 years... I haven't relied on our countries health care for much of anything. I sigh and realize that we have a dysfunctional and mentally a two year old..running the country.

Yes... the numbers are rising... yes.. if more tests are available .. more cases will be confirmed.... I have a feeling they are saying one thing and doing another.. as usual.

I woke up this morning surfacing from a dream in which I'd seen a pale and bloated Trump hooked up to a very, very, very long respirator tube and heard, "He's throwing thousands under the bus." Right now, in the eye of the growing health crisis, his hyper-narcissistic self indulgence, unchecked blathering of mis-information, and unconscionable distortions of the truth, coupled with his complete inability to grasp the reality of what true and empathetic leadership entails, is callously putting untold numbers of lives in life-or-death danger ("throwing thousands under the bus").
