@jeanne-mayell I hope there is no invasion, but if it happens, it will be trading left-wing dictatorship for right-wing dictatorship, and the benefits will go to the wealthy and influential right-wing Cuban Americans in the US (mostly in S. Florida) who think the country still belongs to them. It does not. It will be a return to pre-revolutionary Cuba, complete with the very conditions that gave rise to the revolution in the first place. Sad, frustrating, and more evidence that this administration sees the world in terms that benefit it and its friends only. But that's not new.
I still have family there and the conditions are intolerable. There's no natural gas or electricity, and people are building fires to cook. The country is on the verge of collapse. What is coming won't help those who are the most desperate. What an abhorrent continuation of everything that is so detestable. It makes me sick.
