@earthangel

“So raise the candles high
'Cause if you don't we could stay black against the night
Oh, raise them higher again
And if you do we could stay dry against the rain”

Oh yes indeed! Raise them high!

Love candles!So much.(way too much)

So beautiful,  magical, and meaningful bringer of light into all states of being and emotions!

But do I have another story! (I am a Grandmother Story Teller who gathers her children into her circle who comes from a long line of village women crones sharing her wisdom and her warnings  ? ????

For even my own best precautions and safeguards mystically have gone dramatically "awry!'  Especially with my candles!  (But they are more often miraculous!)

Ok so--I once almost set a dear friends house on fire! Literally. We laughed then without fear and I laugh now as it was quickly dealt with trust me! But it happened and I still have a scorched basket to prove it.  ??? oh the experiences of 7 decades of a fabulously strange life!!

My dear new friend (one of my energy healing "clients" sent to me by a psychic psychologist who knew me ) had asked me to do a house blessing for her after an unfortunate vistor/experience in her home. It was a meaningful and lovely lovely experience for both of us and her home which truly energetically cleared and opened to heart energies

Unfortunately when I turned to pack up my special collection of items in my House Blessing Basket, I discovered the barely smoldering sage bundle laying in my abalone shell had ignited my sacred feather and it was literally on fire!

I was able to put it out very quickly but it was definitely a really 4 elements of earth, sea, air, and fire catalytic and dramatic finale!

?My personal "Revolving Roof Top Lounge" blessing for all! ?

(Without my personal grand finale!)

But right back to spinning wheels and Earth, Wind and Fire. Need a song @unk-p !

Hahahahaha Hahahahaha Hahahahaha ?

@michele-b,

and I didn't even give you the punchline:  Chuck still wanted me to finish cutting his hair, nicked nose and all!  So I did.

This was the guy who would lecture me about buying nutritionally-deficient white bread, and then stop by at midnight to invite me on a Dunkin Donuts' run.

Enough said.

What dear? The food, the drink, the grooves of the music,the roof top air quality? Or the attendees?

Or did you mean the very good high spirited fun and a little magical sprinking of rainbows and unicorns and stardust!

This thread reminds me of a piece written by Martin Shaw a few years ago: A Mid-Winter's Night Dream. Skip down to the section titled "Let's Go Dancing" to see what I mean. @unk-p, I think you'd get along especially well with Martin Shaw.

.... pleaded with me to give him a good trim.

"But I've never cut hair before," I protested.

"Geez, don't make such a big deal out of it.  There's nothing to it -- just cut straight across and take off a couple of inches," Chuck replied.

The scissors slipped and one of the blades went up his nose.

dang, D2, that is some punk rock $h!+.

Looked up and loved Melanie, her powerful song and the wonderful the Edwin Hawkins Singers with her.

Melanie "Lay Down"/ "Candles in the Rain"
1970 written after Woodstock Festival in the U.S. Melanie wrote and then recorded her song with zthe Edwin Hawkins Singers presented in the Netherlands when Melanie was 23 years old.

https://youtu.be/IZ52lk9wjZI

Loved all the diversity even among the audience! Oh I miss the 70s now!

Spinning wheel and Revolving Roof Top Lounge time machine of memories, emotions and energies!

This whole thread is bringing me such joy! @Michele-b ... my mom, bio dad, and daddy were all hippie-adjacent back in the day, and your post about the haircuts, the Age of Aquarius, etc, took me right back to my childhood! I felt such a warm jolt of nostalgia, and may have to pull out the cast recording of "Hair" and stick in on the record player! My mom saw it on stage in Chicago when it was the hit of the day, and she had no idea they all got naked on stage. She still blushes and laughs when she tells the story. She sang those songs all through my childhood ... they were my lullabies. Thank you for giving me that little "moment" today :)

@saibh

You are so truly welcome! That's exactly what our amazing Revolving Roof Top Lounge is all about! Bringing in the joy that we truly all need in our lives, in our hearts, and in our relationships and connections with others and having fun big time!

Your post and gratitude fills my heart with pure joy.  Plus laughter brings such joy! Just imagining your mom seeing an unexpected entirely nude cast of "Hair" performing on stage makes me laugh out loud.

Remembering my own experiences of entire nude families out on the lawns in my late '60s early '70s days coming from an island in Alaska to a "whole new world" in the lower 48 brought many eye openers as well as blushes back to memory! Hahahahaha!

Oh my ???????

Echoes.... (How far we have been catapulted... ?)....

From CSNY " DEJA VU "

"Almost cut my hair...

Happened just the other day...

it's gettin' kinda long...

 But I didn't, and I wonder why ..

I feel like letting my freak flag fly

And I feel like I owe it to someone, yeah ...

Must be 'cos I had the flu this Christmas,

And I'm not feeling up to par, and it increases my paranoia,

Like looking in my mirror, and seeing a ... POHlice car ...

But I'm not, I'm not giving in an inch to fear

' Cos I've promised myself this year ...

I feel oh, like I owe it to someone

When I finally get myself together ...

I'm gonna get down in that sunny southern weather, yeah ...

I'm going to find a space inside a laugh, yes ...

Separate the wheat from the chaff ....

I feel like, I owe it to someone, yeah ....someone "

(How far we have been catapulted ... ?...through time and space!)

Always loved Crosby,Stills and Nash, and this particular time was absolutely the very best of them ..."CSN"1969 (Suite:Judy Blue Eyes, Guinnevere, Wooden Ships)

Neil Young joined them after and in 1970 they released "Deja Vu"... it's all tooo much man! ;)

It was a very good year...for rocknroll, amongst other things... ?️???

Time ?️, and?, and...?....

Such a lovely, positive thread! I never cut anyone's hair, but I was (still am in much philosophy) a hippie those last years of the sixties and through the seventies. In more recent life, my late husband used to go up on our roof to sleep during Tucson's hot summer nights...even tho it was cooler in the house ? he liked the fresh rather than the A/C air and having the stars above him.

@unk-p

Does this mean that the rooftop is square and not round ?? I just can't get into the quantum physics of doing a [square] dance on a round revolving rooftop... the centrifuge?

And I suppose this means that you are now cattywampus....

' The artist formerly known as Unk-P.... now [Unk] ' ⁉️

I love our rooftop restaurant.  I use to wait on tables at a Howard Johnson's restaurant when I was a teen.  I wore one of those turquoise and white uniforms.  It was just like the restaurant in this Anna Kendrick skit.  Someone would put on the jukebox and the whole place came alive.

@jeanne-mayell, This is great!  I can just picture you as this cute teen, with your beautiful smile, in that HJ uniform.  I never waitressed --  I would have been a disaster balancing all of those trays of food.
