Resistance. Let us count the ways.

On October 7, a milestone towards dictatorship was reached with the GOP controlled congress allowed and even praised Pam Bondi for refusing to answer to Congress when she was questioned about overreach.

I realize there is a lot of news right now, but distracting Americans from the theft of their democratic rights is how the Administration commits a coups d'etat in 12 months.  No matter what else we do, we must not miss these moments.

In 1850, when congress passed a law requiring all citizens to assist in capturing and returning runaway slaves, northern states refused and passed their own state laws prohibiting their citizens from assisting slave owners in the capture and return of slaves.

States have rights but they have to claim those rights. What is your state doing?

When we meditated on the future this week, I noticed growing acts of resistance in consumerism.  People will be refusing to spend money, voting with their pocketbooks. It's already started with the loss, for example, of 375,000 WAPO subscribers, and the tarnishing of the Tesla brand. But I see a wholesale disengagement among American consumers in time ahead.

The latest predictions are still in the making, and will be posted hopefully by the end of next week.

Tad Stoermer has been an invaluable resource for me since the beginning of the year. He has been inspiring, informative and has held a bright light for these times.

Some of my favorite images coming from both Portland and Chicago demonstrations are from those who are dressing up in inflatable animal costumes and dancing around. It seems especially brilliant when  "This is what democracy looks like" is chanted.  I've also enjoyed watching groups of people do the Cha Cha slide and line dances. This is what TODAY'S democracy actions look like and I love them.

@jeanne. Thank you for the video you have posted above. It is so heartening, and so true. And, it's good to see you!

Yesterday in church we were talking about how Jesus (Spirit, Light, Truth) shows up in the "in-between", walking in the borderlands that exist between us, bridging the gap between our divisions with each other. If we know and internalize this, each interaction becomes an opportunity to let that Spirit of Truth guide and lead our interactions with others. It is up to us to allow that divine guidance to happen.

This reinforces what Jeanne says about the lightworkers, angels, universal forces of Truth being among us, with their loving support there for the asking.

This is a blessed assurance. Take heart. ❤️

Thank you, Jeanne, for these vital reminders. I’d spoken in a different setting of my slight trepidation about my 50th HS reunion this past weekend bc of  the strong presence of MAGA classmates. One woman, in particular, is all out pro-T and we weren’t fb friends til a few days ago. She was very friendly to me at the gathering; we were never close in hs. Anyway, I was thinking about her today and feel spirit was def nudging me to be a teacher for her and let her see how loving kindness and giving light is a better path than the one she’s on. She’s responded positively to some of my posts and I appreciated one she shared about Columbus/Indigenous Peoples Day. This morning, though, I became even more aware of my role as a teacher on social media for her, in particular. (I was a hs educator.) Not a preacher, but a gentle truth sharer about our connection to Nature, the power and need of love and kindness, and the value of laughter even during the toughest times. So, your reminder is timely and vital for my current experience. :-)

Sometimes resistance is surprising!

Case and point?

It looks like all the major news outlets (including Fox and Newsmax) have rejected a new Pentagon policy which would impose unprecedented restrictions on news gathering. The policy requires journalists to hand over their credentials Wednesday if they refused to sign this afternoon, the restrictions which limit access to information and what they can report about the Pentagon. This is a definite violation of first amendment rights with unreasonable curbs on press freedom.

One America News is the only media outlet which has signed the letter. They are a small far right outlet.

Resistance actions worth mentioning today are the many airports around the U.S. which are refusing to play Noem's video in airports, blaming Democrats for the Government shutdown. Some of those airports include:

  • Buffalo (New York)
  • Charlotte (North Carolina)
  • Cleveland (Ohio)
  • Los Angeles (California)
  • Phoenix and Tuscon (Arizona)
  • Seattle (Washington)
  • Las Vegas (Nevada)
  • Portland (Oregon)
  • Baltimore ( Maryland)
  • Sacramento (California)
  • Stockton (California)
  • Atlanta (Georgia)
  • JFK, LaGuardia and Newark (New York/ NewJersey)
  • Philadelphia (PA)
  • Chicago O'Hare and Midway
  • Salt Lake City (UT)
  • Denver (Colorado)

@lovendures Also

Boston's Logan airport,

Newark, New Jersey airport

and NYC LaGuardia airport are three other very large airports that refused to  play Noem's video blaming democrats' refusal to fund the government.

The airports cited the Hatch Act that clearly prohibits use of public assets for political purposes and messaging.

In Portland, where troops are being sent to stop what the Admin says are the dangerous uprisings there, protesters staged a naked bike ride protest and an anti-ICE  froggie resistance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bw5zxdSObso

You gotta love Portland.

There's another No Kings Day happening on Oct 18.  I went to the first one-- it was peaceful, positive, and encouraging.

Locations and times can be found here:

Discovered today that there are people buying the inflatable animals in Portland and donating them for others to wear.  Like a lending library, but you don't have to return it.  Over 100 donated.  They are on portable clothes racks and people can chose the one they want to protest in.

I think a lot of inflatables will be showing up on Saturday.

I don't have a costume, but I do have a shirt with a saying.

In Chicago they have made 17,000 whistle kits (and counting) and are giving them to people in different neighborhoods to create community.  Whistles are gaining popularity as a form of protesting.  Whistles are alerting people to ICE presence.  They are a call for help from community neighbors.  When one blows, neighbors gather to help, do grocery runs for those afraid to leave their homes, do school watch groups, protest ICE actions and so forth.

During Whistlemania events, people gather to assemble the kits together. The kits also contain cards with information on your rights and a zine.  ( I did not know what a zine was until today).

If you use the map function to find a location for a NO Kings rally, you may notice that the map labels the Gulf region as the Gulf of Mexico.  That made me smile.

Asking for prayers for protection and Light surround us tomorrow as we peacefully protest NO KINGS . In my county as well as across the world.

There have been talks/posts on community boards among the MAGA young, white, racist ,misogynistic , far right male contingent in my county for them to gather and attack protestors tomorrow. If they are doing it here in my very red state? They are doing it in other red states across the South.

🙏🏻🪽💜🪽🙏🏻 Please join me in surrounding us protestors in Light &  Love and invoking Divine Protection for us all.

Since I can't physically attend a No Kings event, I’ll spend the day in meditation, sending love, strength, peace, and joy to all who are celebrating. I invite anyone who is unable to be there in person, to please join me in this meditation of Light. We are each a ray of that Light, anchoring and blessing all that occurs today.

Please adjust the following to something that resonates with you:

I begin with a Ray of White Light that moves through my body, linking me to Spirit and then deep into Mother Earth, grounding me. A sphere, created from that Ray, enfolds me, protects me. I ask Archangel Michael and his Host for protection for all attending and for all of us at home. Angels encircle each event, wings touching wings as they sing, with sound rejoicing and protecting. I welcome other Beings of Light—ancestors, guides, and great souls—to add joy and power to the day. Together, our energies become One, a vibration that seeds and then sustains positive effects far beyond these Celebrations. We are an energy that will strengthen the restoration of democracy.

If fear arises, ask: Creator, please take this negative energy to its right place in the universe. All cords and all connections are removed. This space, our America, is now filled with Light, Love, Truth, and Justice. The door is sealed.  It is done. It is complete. Amen and Amen.

I will meditate with these images throughout the No Kings day. Join me! One heart ❤️ is strong. Many together are mighty.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Namaste,

VERY ANNOYING FORUM GLITCH! posts are only allowing three likes per post! I am hoping Dave can fix this very annoying bug. This glitch comes after two years in which you often have to click five times to get your "like" counted.  Am going to do my best to push for this one to get fixed.

@tesseract Thank you for this lovely NO Kings DAY meditation.  May the day's events bring light to the whole country and the world and may these events strengthen and hold the line on our democracy.

I am hoping that the No Kings day (today) is an overwhelming success.  Although I won't be able to attend, some family members will, and I'm sending positive energy to all who do.

I am hopeful that we will soon see the day when the US Military defends their oath to the US Constitution, in defiance of what the 45 administration wants.
