@kammermuller -I'm late to this post but here are some additional ideas.
Spirit gave me golden sissors to cut cords. @kateinpdx's explanation is terrific --I just have always worked with colors so my visuals tend to reflect that. 😀 you can also ask any of the Archangels for help and they will cut cords with (not for) you. Michael's sword is blue and he represents Will, (as well as protection) so I find his sword really helpful when it is something painfully challenging to remove. I was taught to cut at my end AND the other person's side so two cuts. The important thing tho, is what feels right for you. The way to do anything in the etheric is for you to listen to yourself and allow the mind's eye and ear to give you the tools. Some will be symbolic and others quite literal.
I am going to start using kate's concept of breaking contracts "Null and Void!" -- and adapting it to a bunch of my own --not so positive habits --as I make some changes in my daily life. Thank's @kateinpdx, your post was marvelous!!!
