@lovendures Helene fits a prediction I made on 9/17/24 about an October hurricane:

  • An early October hurricane in the Atlantic moving into the Gulf of Mexico and heading for the panhandle. Landfall and storm strength will be difficult to determine because of the warm water acceleration that happens at the last minute. (Jeanne Mayell)

@navinsinghmedgmail-com I originally got the feeling of a fast-escalating hurricane, fueled by warm water and heading into the Gulf of Mexico and towards the panhandle with ferocity. I thought it would be headed for the eastern end of the panhandle.  This morning I heard in my head, Mobile, Alabama, but I'm not sure why I heard that, since  that city is outside of their projections. Praying for all who are in the path of this storm.

We also have these for Oct-Nov

  • Storms are hitting the Florida panhandle hard. (@Seaholly) Predicted for November
  • A big hurricane in Florida and other coastal regions of the US this month. (@Tonya W) Predicted for November.

@jeanne-mayell thank you for all of your insights! I should get some strong winds and storm surge here in Tampa Bay from this large hurricane as it passes west of me

The forecast has my area being side-swiped by Helene.  A small change in the track would put us right in it, but I am not particularly worried. And strangely, I'm not even as interested as I usually am when we've got a tropical system coming at us.  I don't know why.  Maybe it's going to track further away rather than closer.

One good thing about Helene is that she is predicted to travel very quickly over the next couple of days, leaving less time for rain to accumulate and less time for winds to blow in any single location.  Kind of a hit-and-run storm.

I knew, back when Helene was just an invert 20% ... that she would become q major hurricane coming on at least a Cat 3.

I felt she would take the path of Opal in 1995 across my sector.
We will experience  very high flood risk because of a system of heavy rains AHEAD of Helene. Then Helene is coming in overnight and directly across us.My "weather bones" have been singing since Monday. I spent all day yesterday storm prepping... now the ongoing prayers for all in the path and the waiting. 🙏🏻💜🪽🙌🪽💜🙏🏻

@journeywithme2   Take care of yourself!  Looks like the Atlanta area is going to get massive rainfall.  I hope you are not in a flood-prone area?

@journeywithme2 Take care.  I hope the storm strength lessens before it gets to your area.  Sending you protection and strength for the hours ahead.

Latest forecast has us on the dirty side... not in a floodplain but with this much rain standing water is an issue as well as downed trees and power lines. Thankful for all prayers for protection and safety for me and the critters here ... Light and Love ... I am grateful.

@journeywithme2  We're all stocked up and moving outdoor furniture and plants out of harm's way. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst here in Tampa Bay area. Stay safe.

@lowtide same here!!! We are getting a rainstorm ahead of Helene that has already dumped 3:5 inches of rain since this am.... with 5-7 inches predicted from Helene. I had a kitten that was either dumped or left where ever it was staying being here for the past 4-5days ... I was feeding it but not letting it in because I have a full house now.... but did not have the heart to leave it out in this mess.... so it is currently quarantined in the craft room away from the other fur kids in the house. No one needs to be alone out in what's here and coming.
