@dhyanaji the second post was to clarify my first post.  The source of the tweet was MSNBC.  I hadn’t seen your post in between when I posted the second.  Sorry to offend.

Well his “friend” Howard Stern sums it up perfectly about T. The true T.

“The oddity in all of this is the people Trump despises most, love him the most,” said Stern on Tuesday. “The people who are voting for Trump, for the most part … He wouldn’t even let them in a f*cking hotel. He’d be disgusted by them. Go to Mar-a-Lago, see if there’s any people who look like you. I’m talking to you in the audience.”

Yogagirl, do you want McGrath, or do you support someone else? I like McGrath, and I think she has the best chance of beating McConnell. Anyone, anyone, but McConnell.

CNN was reporting tonight that attendees of T's Nazi rallies will be required to sign a form saying they won't sue him if they catch COVID. The man is seriously pathetic.

Yogagirl, I just saw your post saying the same thing.

I think they are going to have a hard time filling the seats. Time to trot out the paid supporters.

@polarberry The fact that he is holding his Nazi rally in a city that is most well-known for having had a massacre of African-Americans, and that he is doing it on Juneteenth, is no accident.  Everything he does is deliberately designed to be as offensive and abhorrent as possible.

This morning Joe Scarborough came up with the perfect slogan to replace T's rally disclaimer:

Come to my rally.  It might kill you, but that's your problem.

@Polarberry I do support Amy.  She has not lost her cool when attacked.  I read all three top candidates platforms and they are not all that different.  The other two top contenders have aired ads attacking Amy, they lost my vote when they did that. They even used some of Mitch's phony doctored clips from his attack.  We can't beat MoscowMitch if we have a vote for my guy or I take my toys and go home mentality.  Charles Booker was endorsed by Bernie and Mike B doesn't have a major endorsement and very little money.  I know it isn'[t popular but unfortunitly if you can't fund a campaign you can't get your message out there. They are doing everything they can to split the party and it will have disasterous results.  Iam a vote Blue no matter who kind of person but I hate to see what is happening in our Primary

I have never been a fan of Howard Stern but when I saw that quote from him on line I laughed out loud.  He hit that nail right square on the head.  It's sad that his devoted fan base are too blinded to see the light.  I just read a outtake from the NYT stating the great divider will give his Convention speech in Jacksonville on the 60th anniversy of the "Ax Handle Saturday, when a mob organized by the KKK attcked civil rights protesters.  He, Barr and Miller are not even trying to hide his racism anymore.  No one believes him when he spews his "that's not the reason I did it Blacks love me" BS. He held his "panel on Policying" yesterday in Dallas and didn't invite the mayor or police chief, both are Black.  Even Rupurt Murdoch has deserted him. (or so it seems)  He is trying to get his Patriots to go to Washington state and attach their fellow citizens.  Desparate measures by a desparate little meanspirited man.

He will try to fill the stands with his fellow haters who will risk their lives for the lyin king!  I saw the clip of The General from the JCS apoligizing for his presence at the attach rally  I look at that as a message to the orange one "you do not have our support".  Hopefully.

I know. Everything's a dog whistle to his base, and everything he does is a not-so-subtle tribute to how he really thinks and feels.

@deetoo With Schwartz's numerous interviews on multiple networks and his chapter in The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump, he's on his way to redemption in my view.

My husband and I joke around about it, but we both have "Military Coup/Junta" on our bingo cards. When Biden said that the military would swiftly escort the Loser out of the WH, we both looked at each other. Even Biden knows it should be the Secret Service (which, btw, Twitler has been referring to as the SS in his tweets - very telling, IMHO). The fact that we now have high level people admitting the Secret Service probably won't act because the ones on duty now are all loyal to Shitler, is very alarming.

As for Tulsa, I would hope there'd be huge, outdoor BLM protests surrounding all of Tulsa. As for Jacksonville, well, as a former Floridian, Florida may be beyond saving...

We're sending money to McGrath in KY as we can. We really like her. I get the feeling that at least one of the other 2 are imposters, but I think @yogagirl would know more about that then me, so I defer to her opinion.

And so the Shitshow rocks on...

After your post, I went to Walmart and purchased several red, white, and blue flower arrangements and have taken them to the cemeteries (there are two of them) to replace the flags.  Some of the flags were gone by then anyway, so it was good I went (and no, it wasn't the result of either side taking them.  We had a storm recently, and many of the flags were blown away.  A sign from God perhaps?)

I thank you for your wonderful suggestions and for giving me a suggestion that allows me to honor my ancestors while at the same time ensuring that I am being mindful and respectful of others.  I particularly loved the idea of the flowers, as I knew that there were arrangements that are weighed down to ensure that they don't blow away unless there is a tornado or something with similar wind strength.  The fact that my ancestors can rest easy under red, white, and blue warms my heart and further symbolizes my hope that this country will one day be unified again in the hearts of its citizens.  I thank you for your suggestions and understanding on this matter, as it has been an issue that has weighed heavily on my heart for the last few days.  Basically, how would I honor my ancestors on both sides and yet be conscious of the fact that the rebel flag is a symbol used by racists?  By using practical red, white, and blue flower arrangements (colors for both sides), I feel that I have honored both sides (despite their admittingly imperfect beliefs) and still be considerate of other peoples views.  I actually feel kind of embarrassed that the solution didn't present itself to me before I posted, but sometimes you can be so blinded by a problem that you fail to see the solution (or, as we say it, sometimes you don't see the snake until it bites you!)

If only the rest of the world would take the time to listen to open-minded and logical people like yourself and make an effort to find a solution that is acceptable to all sides.  We would all be the better for it.

I say let him do it!  That just gives us more incentive to vote him out!  At this point, I will crawl through broken glass, flesh eating bacteria, and acid just to vote him out.  I doubt that Trump's base can say the same.

On another matter, I see that Trump has pulled the RNC convention from North Carolina and is moving it to Jacksonville (thank God he isn't coming to Nashville TN).  I think he has made a mistake, as Florida is becoming more purple every day, and the state is facing a large spike of Covid 19 cases in recent days.  But at this point, if Trump supporters are willing to get Covid 19 to go to his rallies, then I say let them.  Sometimes you can't help people who are bent on a path for self destruction.

@allyn

You are most welcome, I very much appreciate your open-mindedness and frankness in this discussion.

I think as we all try to create a new world, we have to periodically stop and ask ourselves "How would a person of color (or other minority group) feel about this?"

The fact that a storm blew some flags away - a telling coincidence, no doubt. Red, white and blue is the perfect choice, as they were on both flags, and remain a symbol of national unity.

Round of applause to you for hearing the message, and acting so quickly.

? ? ?   ❤️ ? ❤️ ?

I have a question for everyone on this site.

Lately, I have been thinking about the Obama years and how people believed that we had reached a point of racial understanding (on account that we elected the first African American President), only to see the country slide back into state-sponsored racism under Trump.  And yes, I mean state-sponsored racism.  What else do you call a country that bans travel for muslims in certain countries simply because they live in those countries, that you jail hundreds of thousands of latino refugees and separate their children to be put in cages, and support wide-spread violence against people who are genuinely outraged and grieving over the fact that people of color are dying needlessly at the hands of officers who are supposed to protect people like them?

It is my personal opinion that one of the reasons why Trump won in 2016 is that many people who did not like Trump did not feel the urgency that there is now.  Many believed that Trump was simply "all bark and no bite," and thus did not head to the polls because they disliked both candidates and did not feel that Trump would end up being the tyrant that he is.

Based on what I see today, I believe that Trump will lose big time in November.  No, I am not psychic, but the passion of those who oppose Trump are so much more than the feelings of those who support him. Further, the African American voters and the female voters are two major voting blocks that will come together in their passion to drive Trump from office.

I have no doubt that the African American voters will continue the trend come November.  They have been the driving force for some time now (such as when they carried Biden to victory in the South Carolina Primary and Super Tuesday, as well as the voters who turned out to ensure that Doug Jones is the representative of Alabama).

I also believe that many women will not fall for Trump's ploy to turn them against African American voters and towards him.  His various sins against women are too numerous to forget.  Further, many mothers were greatly affected by the George Floyd video when Floyd cried out for his mother, who was deceased.  Finally, the 100 year anniversary of the 19th amendment (the amendment that gave women the right to vote) will be happening in August.  All democrats have to do is remind voters that Trump has said several times about how the 19th amendment should be revoked, and let women's passion take it the rest of the way.

My concern is for latino voters (who justifiably feel as thought they will be targeted for deportation and/or harassment if they vote), as well as young Bernie voters.  I hope that all the sides can at least agree that Trump and the Republican party is a threat to our country (if not our lives) and thus must be driven out no matter what.  Nevertheless, I feel that with the right PR campaign, the Democrats can ensure victory and take back our nation.  But democrats can't afford to be nice anymore.  They need to bombard the televisions and radios with messages of Trump's cruelty and incompetence.  Show commercials of Hispanic children in cages.  Show videos of Floyd begging for air.  Show the death toll of Covid 19 with pictures of the victims.  Show Trump's accomplishments (tax bill for the rich) while showing pictures of ordinary, everyday people struggling to get food or basic necessities.  Remind voters that Trump will let lose more than he already has if he is granted a second term, and that he will gut social security, Obamacare, and other programs because he will have nothing to hold him back.

Further, Democrats need to pull a page out of the Republican handbook and make it harder for Republicans voters to cast their votes for Trump.  No, I don't mean keep them from the polls.  But Democrats can shame Republicans.  Start showing videos of Republican voters being asked by their children and/or children why they supported someone as evil as Trump.  Suggest that people who vote for Trump may be ostracized in the future (This actually worked a few years ago in Alabama when Doug Jones won.  Many Republican voters stayed home rather than vote for Roy Moore, a pedophile, especially when several people suggested that the voter registry could be hacked in the future and it would be revealed exactly who voted for Moore.  The uncertainty that their vote would or would not be kept secret in the future prompted many Republicans to not vote than take the risk and face backlash in the future.)  It is easy to vote for someone if you feel that you won't be ostracized in the future for it.  So it is time for Democrats take the initiative and shame Trump supporters.  Because it is the only way to offset the tactics that Trump and his Republican base has already implemented to drive the vote in their favor (gerrymandering, refusal to do mail-in ballots, laws designed to keep certain racial groups from voting, etc.)  In short, Democrats cannot be complacent.

Having said that, I am hopeful for a Biden victory in November (not confident, but hopeful).  But I have gotten off point.  My question to Jeanne and the rest of you is this-in the decades that follow, do you foresee the light side getting complacent again as they did in 2016, thus allowing another Trump-like figure (or, God forbid, Trump or one of his family members) to regain power again?  Because I am afraid that, in the event we succeed and get rid of the corrupt element in our nation, that we will not continue to hold onto that power and give it back to Trump supporters in the near future.  And that is terrifying, as we know that climate change is becoming an increased threat to our lives.   If Republicans stay in power and/or regain their power in the next few years, then I don't see how we as a nation can survive.

I believe there will be an incredible number of votes intended for Biden and that he will have many more votes that the devil. However, just look at what happened in Georgia this week. This is terrifying. I had hoped that whatever Stacey Abrams was doing to past 3 years regarding voter supression was going to change things. But nothing has apparently changed. That terrifies me. It seems we need republicans to help the elections be honest because the democrats don’t seem to be making any progress. If the devil stays in power, I don’t know what I will do.

@allyn. Well done,  Allyn!  You honored loved ones while respecting modern values.  Our public remembrances need not be comprehensive.  And in leaving out troubling history, we honor our living family.  I'm glad you brought this up to discuss.  :)  P.S.  It's possible your now-enlightened ancestors might have blown those flags away themselves.

@elaineg I wonder if he's having trouble finding states that are willing to let large groups of people gather together.  Florida's governor is sycophant, which explains the convention. No evidence here, but maybe simple logic.

It's been a ' rumour based on fact' that Der Twitler kept this interesting little volume on his nightstand as his fav bedtime read:

' Mein Kampf '

His subconscious must still be goose-stepping to his 'hero's' playbook....

there was a quote attributed to Trump that he read Mein Kampf, but it turned out to be fake. I doubt he can read very well anyway.
