@suspira44

I don't care if Curly Howard is nominated...

Yeah, me neither.  At least Curly had a sense of humor.  And some humanity.     Oh,  and, also, a better hairdo, too.

I see a lot of scared people strutting with false bravado in a world moving too fast & looking to make it someone else’s fault & a strong man to come in and fix it.

Amen to that, @Shawn.

@suspira44, I'm sorry that your peace was disturbed with that craziness.  I agree with you about the Democratic nominees, and am just waiting for things to play out and solidify.

I never had a FB account.  I did see the value in it, but always felt ambivalent.  Unfortunately these platforms give cowards the courage to be hateful.  Jeanne's site is the only one I've joined, and it took me over a year to sign up.  I probably drove Jeanne crazy with my "I just have one more question about joining" emails.

You know, when you think about how FB got started ... didn't Zuckershmucker originally create that platform in order to "rate" women?

@suspira44, I was still half-asleep when I read your post, and I thought "who is Curly Howard?"  I'm old enough, so you'd think I'd know! ?  Had to look him up -- never knew Curly's last name.

Rumor has it that there was an evil 4th stooge who escaped from the nuthouse and occupies the current WH.  I read it on FB.

Facebook is a being used as a lie machine all over the world. They gaslight people in order to make them lose hope and give up.  Anyone can flood it with lies to make you feel overwhelmed that T has so many supporters. The Russians have spent millions doing just that.  I never get that on my fb page. But since 2015 I have blocked and unfollowed all but a small number of people I know I can trust and who I want to follow.

I get afraid that by hanging with people who think like I do, that I, not them, am in Wonderland.  --@suspira44,

I am so glad you posted this sentiment.  Pathmakers, light workers, leaders, creative people, and heart warriors are all in wonderland. In a land of wonder where the light is.

You are in good company -- Martin Luther King, Barack Obama, Adam Schiff, AOC, Elizabeth Warren, Elijah Cummings, Harriet Tubman, Abe Lincoln, Rosa Parks, Benjamin Franklin, and a hundred million more are in wonderland with you.

There is a proven positive psychology tool that people use to become happier and stronger - it is called Finding Your Choir.  If we spend our lives surrounding ourselves with voices that resonate with our true selves and support the best and brightest Self we can be, then we have a greater chance of  changing the world and living our best life.

I know you know all this because I've read your enlightened posts but your bad experience gives us a chance to remember where we get our strength.

Hi I just wanted to let you know that I never had a FB account. My husband has one because he's self employed (realtor) and he never lets it slip he's not a rethuglican because if he does he loses business. Funny he once said though that if he let it slip he was a GOP supporter he doesn't feel the independents or dems would drop him like the rethuglicans do. HMMM

Suspira: what state do you live in? Wondering what state most that are in that FB forum are from?

I always told my husband that not all republicans are racist but it seems all the racists tend to be rethuglican. (Sorry just how I feel)

and deetoo: yes it was originally created by the nerdy zuckerschmucker (lol) as a way to rate women on campus. Disgusting premise to begin with.

I have friends who are GOP supporters. My best friend is a dem but she's married to a GOP/trump supporter. Trust me it gets interesting and tense in that house if Politics is brought up. On top of it, she is not only a dem, she's a Kennedy (makes me think of Arnold Schwarsenegger and Maria Shriver lol) however, I don't think the "Terminator" would support the Orange nightmare.

I'm so sorry you were the victim of an attack like that. One of the reasons I never joined Facebook. I don't like "herd mentality" in human beings.

Like deetoo said, this was the only forum I joined too. I have some YT folks I follow and comment with but I know they are safe spaces there too now because they eliminate the trolls, however this is the only forum I've ever joined in my life!

@baba

When I was a kid in middle school we had a mock election (1972 election) and I actually "voted" for Nixon. As a kid I had no political party I had any feelings about back then and neither did my parents. They just voted for who they liked. Nowadays it does seem even more partisan than it did back then.

The difference now vs. years ago is that we used to only have 13 channels on TV and 3-4 were major networks. So everyone listened to the same news programs etc. Now, we have hundreds of channels, and state run TV by Fox, who became more and more partisan and phony. They knew that the mob mentality tactics would create a swell of people to listen to them. They captured the worst parts of humanity in this country and latched onto them using fear and manipulation.

I feel once the hearings are public some of the people will open up their eyes, but many will choose to remain closed. Yet, there will be a blue wave. Once the cat is out of the bag and out in the open the Orange nightmare is going to exit stage right.

@TriciaCT

Let me clarify - the verbal attack was out in public on the street in my [allegedly very left wing] neighborhood, not on FB or anywhere online. White dude in a MAGA hat driving a hoopty car... It had happened within a week of someone shooting into a busy restaurant right up that block, the shooter was screaming that "gays have to die" (which is why I reported my attack).

By limiting my FB interactions considerably, it's not so bad. As an old friend put it when I went back - "Welcome back. It's still a cesspool. But it's OUR cesspool."

The Fox crowd wont be affected by public hearings. They will edit everything to fit their narrative, and their viewers are too addicted to their echo chambers to ever actually watch the hearings. That group is as they are and will not change. The public hearings, however, will change the views of the roughly 10-15% of independant thinkers who dont know what to believe yet. That 10% is all that is needed, as once the support of impeachment hits about 60%, the GOP will turn on DT.
