@jeanne-mayell wonderful dream, especially after your request to tinder it. I always love it when we rise up above the social clutter. If it were my dream I would ask myself why the cosmetics, as I wear such things to hide my own blemishes or ego. Are we now letting that go to the wayside, in needing to be more real, more transparent. Maybe  the washing away, “the need to shower”, is the letting go of what we hide, the lies, and finding a higher moral ground. Humbling ourselves. In respect...

Since at least the Gingrich years, the GOP has played politics as if it's a zero-sum game. They have no principles other than winning, at all costs. The ones who only care about money use the religious right to advance their interests, and the religious right believes the ends justify the means. Meanwhile, dems continue to think things can be negotiated. Until they finally realize this isn't possible we will continue to gravitate toward a corporate theocracy.  Sorry I'm being such a downer today. :(

OK, I seem to have found an answer to my question.  I watched a MSNBC clip, where Romney announced his decision and his reasoning.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAM2sqQMHZU&fbclid=IwAR2j5kgEYjpce_TkChYxuBf7DzlEbD36FzrQq0wPFJcs9xYRQdKr0Eg5Pzk

This is EXACTLY what is wrong with the GOP. It isn't "what is best for the USA", it is "What is best for our agenda, regardless of what is best for the country". It truly is "Heads I win, Tails you lose" mentality.

In Tarot, it is the 5 of Swords. Romney is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

He would love to see R. vs W. overturned, but I think it's the former. That way he can't be accused of being a RINO, but comes across as bipartisan and reasonable should he vote against. Saving his own ass. That's all any rethug Senator knows how to do.

I read your Gingrich years as "Grinch years" at first.  I thought to myself, "Hmm, that works" and then realized that wasn't what you said.  haha. I thought you were talking about Trump.  Haha.

We can all have down days, even down weeks or longer.  But you are here with us right now which is wonderful in itself.  Hopefully, you will gain something positive to take with you by being here with us today.  I always appreciate you thoughts and wisdom.

@codyroo, I think you've got Romney pegged by just asking the question, what is Romney up to? Whatever he is up to, you can be sure he is seeking a way to advance Mitt Romney's political ambitions and that his motives are dark for the rest of us.  He wants to be president so bad.  He thought he could turn the party against Trump so he could rise. Now he's going at it another way. But whatever people think of Romney, none should ever be fooled into thinking he's on the side of light.  Rolling Stone writer Matt Taibi captured Romney in this 2012 story.

This is the man who made his fortune in the most unscrupulous way -- advising faltering companies to take out vast amounts of debt, extracting huge fees for himself, then leaving those companies to go bankrupt, and not be able to pay people back. He is an opportunist who makes Nikki Haley look angelic, and one of the most clever snakes in politics. Even without becoming president, his Bain Equity practices that set unscrupulous precedents in business for years to come, rival Twitler in the damage he has done to our children's futures.

Just in case I was off about his motive this time, I threw some cards on his decision to vote for Trump's pick. I got the Ace of Swords and the sword looked especially cold, crystal cold to match Romney's heart.  It is a win win for him because he wants a conservative Supreme Court to serve him when he succeeds Trump. Like Susan Collins, he started by getting progressives to think he's a good guy by saying he wasn't sure he would support the vote. But he is all in for the vote. He is a white elitist racist an the king of vulture capitalism. I don't think Romney cares about religion in any spiritual sense, except insofar as religion embraces white elitism, but again, he will win favor from the religious Right with his vote.

Taking a deep breathe, I don't want to feel the way I do about Romney or anyone. I still can forgive him for his ways.  He just wants to win, that's all.  He can't help it if he's clever at winning and he can't help it if he doesn't care about how much he hurts people.  That's just his level of ability.

@codyroo. I was busy writing my response to you while you found Romney's explanation. I can't watch it in part because I don't like listening to hypocrites; it hurts my heart.  Perhaps someone can summarize or maybe Matt Taibi will write about it.

He so badly wants to come across as being bipartisan.  He is much better than Nikki Haley and Susan Collins at pulling off the bi-partisan image.  But they are the same.

@lynnventura, I agree.  Last night Sheldon Whitehouse spoke to R. Maddow about the significance of dark money -- that's the driving force behind many of these senators.  Whitehouse is on the Judiciary Committee, and I suspect he knows a lot more than he's free to share right now.

@jeanne-mayell, I can respect you wanting to be measured and understanding in your view of Romney.  I also understand and relate to your anger.  I think we've been feeling so desperate, that we began looking to Romney to be an honest broker.  After his vote to impeach, we put too much hope and faith in him.

@codyroo, I agree that Romney is part of the problem, not part of the solution.  Romney is a mixed bag.  Although he doesn't like or respect the Orange One, Romney was happy to be considered for a position in T's administration. He has still supported virtually all of T's policies.  Romney may criticize some of T's behavior as abhorrent, but he'll still hold his nose and look the other way, if it works to his political advantage.  Jeanne, I agree that he is a white elitist and a king of vulture capitalism. The end does justify the means.

@lovendures, "Grinch" years ... LOL!  Thanks, I needed that!

@jeanne-mayell  I will paraphrase it (as best as I remember it)

1. It was OK to delay approving Obama's pick because the pick (I'm assuming he means the President will pick a candidate with the same political affiliation as themself) and the Senate were two different parties and (historically) the Senate doesn't approve an opposing President's pick, therefore he was following precedent.

2. It is OK to approve the vetting of Trump's pick, because they are the same political party.

He goes on to say that he is siding with the constitution and precedent as he understands them.

He later says the pick needs to have expertise with the law, strict constructionists who don't have these dreams of how the country should be, they should just interpret the law.

Just wanted to say to all of you: don't let hope slide. I know horror scenarios have been piling up month after month, and it is depressing and emotional, but there has to be light at the end of this mudslide. Keep fighting and send light. Remember Liz's words: hope is not given, we create it. Hold onto that all, @Michele-b and @Timo had more beautiful quotes concerning hope. That is the thing we need to keep right now.

Stay strong, even though it sounds contrite. You are needed for rebuilding your great nation. ❤️

Romney's problem is he's always so certain of his own moral rightness and superiority. I think he does search his soul, but once he make a decision he is convinced he's right. He doesn't doubt himself, which is dangerous. He's also extremely entitled. At his core I do think he's a decent person, but one who doesn't search his soul enough. The result is he does plenty of things I would view as immoral (vulture capitalism, re-inventing himself into anything he thinks will help him win whatever he wants to win) but I'm sure he doesn't see it that way.

@writerjenny  I asked for a card 1.  to show whether or not MM would succeed in ramming through a justice nominee, INDOLENCE (8 of C) I read this as his efforts will cause stormy clouds and polluted waters.  He will go too far and will crack many relationships and empty many cups.  ...a lot of emptiness.  2. asked if Lindsay Graham would stand by his word.  STRIFE 5 OF W I read that as yes, but that seems wrong now. Crowley says this card means much quarreling, competition, cruelty, lust, and desire.  (Sounds about right.)  3. asked if RBG would have any influence from the other side and got PRINCESS OF SWORDS.  Read that as she will continue to fight evil forces until the light shines through.  Ziegler says it's the influence of heaven on earth.  So, answer is YES.  4. for a card as to how things are in January for a nominee.  Got PRINCE OF CUPS Read that as much turmoil, but spirituality is returning.  The eagle is carrying Biden forward.  A lot of energy to get on the right side of God again.  Jeanne writes that it means "swooping to earth bearing gifts of purity, truth, and regeneration.

I would welcome any comments about interpretations, affirms?  contrary perspective? alternative or extended perspective.

@seeker4 yeah these track with mine. 8 of Cups, he definitely screws himself (pardon my language), may even cost him his Senate seat. Five of Wands, battle, strife definitely. Page of Swords- I can add a layer in saying that card also signifies integrity, which especially with the Prince of Cups following it is Biden riding in to clean things up.

I would say not only have you divined the same thing as me, but you also divined a Biden victory at the polls and Mitch McConnell losing his seat.

I wish I had positivity to add to all of us who are living in fear. But I’m afraid, depressed, and not knowing how to get through all this.
I had planned for 2 trips and 4 concerts to help me through the spring and summer.

But the pandemic, trump, his followers, and now the loss of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and trump’s plan to ram through a conservative, it’s difficult beyond what I thought I’d face in my life.

And during a daring time, I decided to go ahead and get stem cells in my back and right knee. After 10 days, I’m truly wondering if that was a wise decision.

And the smoke from the fires in a Oregon sure didn’t help.

I had hoped the pandemic would bring People to their senses, and you’d think that 200,000 dead people from COVID-19 would change their minds, but no. They do and believe what their leader says.

Why would a God allow Ginsburg to die some 46 days before an election that likely keeps the SC somewhat equal? Is there even a God? Are we to learn even more before relieved of the madness?

These days I’m in physical, emotional, and spiritual distress. I know many of you feel the same. Where are you finding joy? I am not finding any. I felt better yesterday that I have an appt with a physical therapist tomorrow. Today, I’m feeling lost and so lonely. Trump has made it clear that he will use the Supreme Court to only allow the votes that arrive on Election Day.

Everything looks so black to me. I don’t know how to get through this.

Anita

I think he does search his sou ...At his core I do think he's a decent person, but one who doesn't search his soul enough...

If he searches his soul, it's a weak little infant soul, just like GW Bush who "prayed" before going to Iraq and causing all those deaths.  If either of them were considering sending their own kids to the front lines of war, the way they have sent other people's kids, they'd have prayed and searched their souls more carefully.

I feel sorry for all of the agents of darkness.  I don't wish them ill, just that they grow up.

And I know, have always known, that the more beautiful world is unfolding as our own hearts unfold and expand.  I have not lost hope for the more beautiful world, and I have never felt that we have to win this next round. Light is happening all around us. RBG can help us.  And there are many others who are lighting our way.

Anita,

I don't know if this will help you at all, but there are millions of pissed off voters who are going to hand this election to Biden.

I have struggled with being on this site, because it is a site for lightworkers and empaths and I am still trying to figure out a lot of things about myself. My instinct has always been to fight fight fight for what's right, so I have difficulty not doing that. John Paul Jones and Dean Winchester are my heroes. ?

Telling someone not to be stressed is silly, because it's impossible right now. I am taking solace in my friends, my animals, my faith, my music, my trees, plants, garden, the harvest, wildlife. Simple things also like a slice of homemade cake or the sight of a dog who comes to me with her toy in her mouth, wanting an outside romp if it's not too smoky.

Hang in there.

This is going to be okay, like Jeanne says. I read on Twitter that in the next few years, Alito and Thomas are likely to retire so that's two conservative justices that will be replaced with more liberal minds. So any gains the GOP make in the short term (and my cards did tell me they are not pull this off when I asked), their long game is terrible. The Democrats will take the White House and the Senate and get to replace at least two justices.
