Oh man, Robertson. Among the worst of the fake-Christian, grifting, lying evangelical slimeballs. He has been involved in so many corrupt enterprises and schemes.

The Bible verse that instantly pops into my head whenever I hear his name is Matthew 7:22.

"Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name"

"Depart from me; I never knew you."

He's the perfect example of that.

Loved Prince. Immense talent gone too soon.

@unk-p   Prince was awesome.  Not only did he talk about transcending boundaries in that song, he lived it.

It feels like nothing is happening but behind the scenes smaller fish are being used to ensnare big ones.

This is more a hunch and observation than a prediction. I’ve been thinking that the rise to a higher or $15 minimum wage may not initially come through Congress but through the grassroots. Employers are begging for new hires right now. Locally, the fast food places are advertising in front of their stores the starting hourly wage; here, counter workers at McDonald’s, $11 an hour and Wendy’s, $10.

If companies don’t provide a decent wage, people aren’t going to apply for jobs, and this may force a raise in wages. The American people hold some leverage here.

@seeker4

It might actually happen. It'll be fascinating to watch.

All these rethugs who have firmly attached themselves to Twitler's wagon will be going down. They will nail him on financial crimes. Then, hopefully, the full and unvarnished truth about all the dirty dealings, sex trafficking, Russian money, and everything else that has all the people like Graham who are lap-dogging him will come out, once and for all.

It's crazy to watch just these republican senators hold ever so tightly to the ideals that benefit the interests of their corporate sponsors. It's wild to watch them try to demonize people who don't want to work for a wage that is not liveable. Y'all are right, the workers hold power now and these corporations are scrambling to find good (chipotle raising minimum wage to $15) ways or bad ( offering a one time sign up fee) ways to incentivize the workforce.

I'm glad that Biden did not buckle under republican pressure on Monday and did not revoke the extra $300 unemployment benefits. The republican party has always branded itself as the party of business and competition, well the wages have become competitive and it's time that businesses  step up and pay workers a fair wage. It shouldn't be this hard.

Another thing I got beef with is how many times I hear negative connotation about fast food workers and how they "flip burgers". Frankly, I work but I don't work in the service industry because of how hard it is and how low it pays; it's not rewarding in any way.  I understand that it's monotonous work but so was the work of factory workers and they were paid a livable wage. I think in the last few decades there's been this determined effort to the devaluation of the worker that's been used to justify their means of pay, specially with the fast food worker.

This thing we all talk about here, this shift, I think it needs to start here with the same determined effort to bring value and humanity back to a worker and see them as they are rather than a means to exploit in order to bring profit. Don't even get me started on Amazon.

@blackandwhite  I concur with a lot of that! For instance... child care workers? elder care workers such as CNA's, restaurant workers etc etc.... hard work.... long hours...low pay...little or no benefits... are not paid nearly enough for what they do.  People need living wages, healthcare, family leave and 401 k's .  They cry it's unskilled labor.. they do not deserve any more... I think this Pandemic illustrated clearly just how "essential" all of these jobs are... yet... no one thinks they deserve better pay? Spit that Kool-Aid out and start thinking about it.. really... really.. thinking about it.

Funny how "unskilled" labor is really nothing more (or less) than really hard work usually performed by women, or employing skills that have historically been within the realm of the household -- cooking, cleaning, caretaking. The low compensation is directly attributable to sexism and misogyny and extends to men doing the same work. What's the big deal? Anyone can do it, right? Well anyone who's tried doing these types of jobs know it's often backbreaking work that involves real skills to boot. Hopefully with more women entering politics, and more enlightened men too, all work will be recognized as having value.

@journeywithme2

So much of our culture needs to change.

I recently became a citizen, I'm not sure if I wrote it here or not but I've on this reading binge of this country's history( I recommend reading "the people's history of the united States" by Howard Zinn) and I've been learning so much. Alot of it I already knew peripherally but I'm getting more informed on particulars. I'm also in the process of becoming a history teacher and I'm looking for ways to teach truth in conservative Texas. Wish me luck.

From the dawn of this country there's been a class warfare. I feel like we are in the cusp of ending these inequality problems because they are just not avoidable anymore, but it's going to take time.

I only got one thing during my meditation today:

I asked when T will be indicted. The reply: “July. Happy birthday! Haha”

My spirit guides must be in a funny mood today!
