Your posts made me laugh so much yesterday. ?

Same here. I'm like a gazelle who senses that a lion just entered its territory when I see my husband go into the laundry room or kitchen.  If he's just grabbing a drink or putting clothes in the hamper, it's cool, but if I sense he's in the mood to *help* I get nervous. lol

@michele-b Actually there are many experts in epidemiology who have been screaming about this for years! But no one wants to pay attention. I urge all of you to listen to yesterday's CNBC interview with hedge fund guy (I know, I know!) Bill Ackman warning everyone to STAY HOME.  He insists that only way to save our way of life, or at least a shred of it, is to stay home for 30 days, period. Otherwise, in his words, "hell is coming."  It's a chilling interview and I don't agree with some of his statements, but he's getting lots of blowback for scaring people but I think that's exactly what is needed NOW.

Out of our family of 12, 10 of us are already in isolation.

The two who are really needed are still going to work. One works in a always white lab coat/masked and gloved testing lab for a big organic herbal company where products that can come in are being meticulously screened for safety and quality control as orders will skyrockef for needed immune supporting products, teas etc.

The other was just pulled into a major state task force based on coordinating state supplies during this pandemic for all state counties and tribal leaders.

The rest of us are dealing with isolation the best we can and not interacting with our other families (other than any online in any necessary emergency things that occur in the future).

You are 100% correct in the absolute necessity of staying home.

Our government might have said 15 days our state 2 weeks but 30 days is far more accurate! Thank you for your sourcing link!

And to be very frank it may be as was suggested in the the news this morning it may likely last 18 months.

We need humor, we need online or texting or video chat communication but this is beyond anything most of us can imagine!

Sobering news.  A day or two ago ( so much happens each day an hour is like a day) I mentioned about younger people having an increase of getting the virus.

Here are some disconcerting new facts.

A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analysis of U.S. cases from Feb. 12 to March 16 released Wednesday shows 38 percent of those sick enough to be hospitalized were younger than 55.

Earlier this week, French health ministry official Jérome Salomon said half of the 300 to 400 coronavirus patients treated in intensive care units in Paris were younger than 65, and, according to numbers presented at a seminar of intensive care specialists, half the ICU patients in the Netherlands were younger than 50.

At a White House news conference on Wednesday, Deborah Birx, the response coordinator of the nation’s coronavirus task force, warned about the concerning reports from France — and Italy, too — about “young people getting seriously ill and very seriously ill in the ICUs.”

There is still some good news about our youngest kids.  Those age 19 and younger who were tested appear to have milder illness with almost no hospitalizations.

A messagings from Queen Elizabeth.

"As Philip and I arrive at Windsor today, we know that many individuals and families across the United Kingdom, and around the world, are entering a period of great concern and uncertainty.
We are all being advised to change our normal routines and regular patterns of life for the greater good of the communities we live in and, in particular, to protect the most vulnerable within them.
At times such as these, I am reminded that our nation’s history has been forged by people and communities coming together to work as one, concentrating our combined efforts with a focus on the common goal.
We are enormously thankful for the expertise and commitment of our scientists, medical practitioners and emergency and public services; but now more than any time in our recent past, we all have a vitally important part to play as individuals - today and in the coming days, weeks and months.
Many of us will need to find new ways of staying in touch with each other and making sure that loved ones are safe. I am certain we are up to that challenge. You can be assured that my family and I stand ready to play our part."

Weeks ago I checked to see what type of Olympics predictions we had made for this year, wondering if the virus would end up canceling or postponing  the Olympic Games.  I noticed nearly nothing predicted for the Olympic Game time frame of July an August, except for one regarding a medal count.  I posted at the time how odd this was to me, you would expect something to have popped up regarding countries, sports  or athletes.  The Olympics are HUGE!  With no one really seeing the Olympics in  our predictions I felt this was really important and the likelihood of having the Olympics in its current time frame wasn't really good.

Today,  Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) board member Kaori Yamaguchi has called for the Tokyo Olympics to be postponed because athletes are unable to prepare adequately as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, she told the Nikkei newspaper.

She is also concerned athletes will not have proper time to prepare for the games.  All qualifying competitions to get to the games have been suspended as well.

Yamaguchi, who won a Judo bronze medal at the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988, said she plans to raise this point at a JOC Board Meeting scheduled for March 27.

"Yamaguchi’s comments come after International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Hayley Wickenheiser on Tuesday called the decision to proceed with the Games “insensitive and irresponsible.”

Wickenheiser, who competed for Canada in five Winter Olympic Games in Ice Hockey and at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Softball, wrote in a statement on Twitter: "This crisis is bigger than even the Olympics […] Athletes can't train. Attendees can't travel plan."

The IOC and Tokyo 2020 Organizers have repeatedly insisted that the games will run as scheduled in Japan’s capital from July 24 to Aug. 9."

I personally don't see how they can run the games as they are currently planned.

The quote is from the CNN live Coronavirus Feed, but I can't link that well as it is ever changing.  Sorry.

The isolation is lonely, but as you say, we have means to communicate and even video options.  When I walked yesterday, four people were standing on opposite sides of the road talking to each other and I had to thread the wide, wide needle space between them.  We all laughed about social distancing, but there’s such a longing for face to face contact and communication.

Today my son is coming by for some extra Chlorox spray cleaner I found in a cabinet.  Somehow I will pass it to him without contact.  ???  His wife is the only one in our extended family unable to work at home.  The corporation she works for has employees sanitizing their own work spaces every day and a safety officer who sends people home if they are coughing!  This is not reassuring.

Mostly, though, our isolation is calming and peaceful and we get outside every day.  I’m exercising like a mad woman, but it helps relieve stress and why not use isolation time to be healthier?  I feel much better today, not experiencing the collective jitters!

Absolutely!  My husband and I were walking every day at a very large scenic park where we seldom see more than 3 or 4 couples ever!  But then we noticed a couple of hard core runners taking sharp reverse turns to get away us like 50' feet away ?

Yesterday afternoon, my son (along with 5 year old g d.) came to drop off more bags of chicken food pellets thinking we were inside and not expecting him.

Nope we were outside and luckily he was parked far away.  We stood still in our tracks to not get within our current 15' to 20' rule for the  little ones but my little grand sweetie saw me and started running as fast as she could towards me.

Her dad and I both yelled stop and she did instantly stop but she burst into tears remembering instantly we couldn't get close much less hug and play with the incredible imaginative play times we share and love. That is the hardest for me. The grandkids just  don't really understand.

Her baby sister was born in January. I've only seen and held her one time at the hospital and seen but not held her at our house twice more..no contact last 6 weeks.

So now photos and videos. So far the DUO app chatting has not been successful. Without internet and only phones and an in an out of range mobile signal I really do continually feel like Shroedinger"s cat!

In case you need visual evidence for the effectiveness of hand-washing, this experiment involving white bread, put together by elementary school students, is an eye-opener:

This is a message from a person who lives in my neighborhood. If you have lost your job due to the virus and NEED work consider this option.  It isn't the safest option for sure, but there is a need in our grocery stores.  She wrote:

"I am front end street manager at SAFEWAY  in XXX, Arizona had a discussion with a lady Monday about needing a second job for hours since her hours at Steinmart had been cut. She was hired  later that evening.  During our interview her daughter texted her that she received a TEXT to all employees that they were all being laid off! The manager asked to her have her daughter also apply online... And same with the daughters boyfriend! Oh my! Wednesday the mom came in and said Steinmart closed... I since interviewed the daughter & boyfriend.. So... We've hired... Mom, daughter & boyfriend! Yay! Put the instantly out of work people back to work within 24 hrs! God is good... Just by being friendly in the grocery line...."

There is a interesting story in the news:

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) spoke at a social-club luncheon for a small group of well-connected constituents, and the Republican senator privately delivered a message far more dire than Trump's. We know this because NPR obtained a secret recording of his remarks.

There's one thing that I can tell you about this: It is much more aggressive in its transmission than anything that we have seen in recent history," he said, according to a secret recording of the remarks obtained by NPR. "It is probably more akin to the 1918 pandemic." Burr also warned attendees about foreign travel, the likelihood of school closings, military mobilization, and taxed medical facilities. Or put another way, the senator's expectations were prescient.

This is the same day that T:  Feb. 27, Donald Trump appeared in the White House Cabinet Room and sounded extremely optimistic about the coronavirus. "It's going to disappear," the president said that afternoon. "One day -- it's like a miracle -- it will disappear."

This is an interesting part of the article

But I'm also interested in how this relates to the president. Burr, as chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, has access to the nation's most sensitive secrets and information related to our national security. When the senator delivered his warning on Feb. 27, Burr was likely relying on high-level briefings and reports.

Donald Trump, however, also has limitless access to U.S. intelligence. If the information Burr saw led him to believe a crisis was looming, why didn't that same information affect the president's thinking?

--Jessi

Because Donald Trump is mentally ill. He has all his life been afflicted with a malignant narcissism in which his every action is to protect his deformed ego.  He didn't do anything about the virus because he (1) he only cares about his own financial interest and personal power, (2) he does not serve anyone or anything that isn't for his own personal profit, and (3) he wanted to hide the virus and the possibility of it from the public by preventing testing and convincing the public to carry on as usual.

The fact that he endangered himself by hanging out with people just shows that he is stupid. Nothing new there.  The man is stupid about issues he doesn't care about.  His skill is in con artistry.

Senator Dumped Up to $1.6 Million of Stock After Reassuring Public About Coronavirus Preparedness - ProPublica Finding

Intelligence Chair Richard Burr’s selloff came around the time he was receiving daily briefings on the health threat.

He knew the markets would crash because of the top secret intelligence briefings.  He then reassured the public that we were safe from the virus, then went home and dumped his stocks.  That is insider trading.

I heard from a former Delta Ops guy who works in government that the plan may be to do a 24 hour national "shelter in place" for 24 hours on Monday.

I couldn't find any online confirmation of his rumor, let alone that it's happening tomorrow and for an undefined amount of time.

I also heard whispers of a full national lockdown -- but what I heard made it sound like it would not be announced tomorrow, as they are waiting until all National Guard are in place to prevent looting, etc. Not sure how true that is.

Hoping my last round of deliveries can still get through...not sure if a lockdown would affect UPS.

@sistermoon

Well, in AZ, our Governor  just announced the National Guard is going to help stock and distribute groceries at  stores to help ensure food supplies.  NO date announced on when yet.

So if that happens this weekend, people will be used to seeing them if they do more restrictions or a form of Martial Law later.  Our GOV.  only today closed bars, restaurants (to-go still ok) and theaters and then only in certain counties.

ASU will be setting up drive thru testing with a hopeful Monday start.  They can do this because they already have the lab, suits and set up because it recently was approved to be a radiation testing lab.  They will switch over from radiation to genes now.  They hope to process 400 kits a day and get up to 1,000.  Currently only one other place does drive-thru tests ( Mayo -Scottsdale) and you must be a patient.   Our state is pitifully behinds with testing right now.  Hopefully more drive thru options will become available.
