I was reading Alice Walker's website today (thanks @deetoo !), and saw this:

WHAT WOULD MY MOTHER ADVISE:  PRAY.

That we show up as best we can through this and all emergencies and disasters. That we hold dear our much valued, by all our ancestors, humanity. That we never forget to value our humility, our ancestors, our friends and beloved ones, who count on us to embody the best that can be mustered in the most distressing and trying of times. To remember our blessings, the goodness of Life that we have enjoyed. That we make peace with our experiences and our souls. That we face whatever is to be faced with gratitude for what has already been received.  ~Alice Walker

The virus itself is of stunning beauty; like so much on this rare planet. While seeking to avoid it, may we acknowledge its mystery.  And may the wild animals, caught, tortured and caged, who have allegedly served as vehicles to bring the virus to humans, be freed and never, in any way, degraded again. Humans will have no peace, and will deserve none, until we accept responsibility for their liberation. ~AW

See: 60 Minutes Australia for a look at the so-called “wet markets.” Note especially the animal considered the most hunted in the world whose only defense when attacked is to curl itself into a ball. Note also that it is exquisite. And extremely aware. What is her name for herself? We can only wonder.

Interesting information about the roll vitamins and cholesterol may play in how our body reacts to Covid 19.

Evidence is emerging that vitamin D—and possibly vitamins K and A—might help combat COVID-19. A new study from the University of Bristol published in the journal of the German Chemical Society Angewandte Chemie has shown how they—and other antiviral drugs—might work. The research indicates that these dietary supplements and compounds could bind to the viral spike protein and so might reduce SARS-CoV-2 infectivity. In contrast, cholesterol may increase infectivity, which could explain why having high cholesterol is considered a risk factor for serious disease.

Yes, good info to keep an eye on. I am concerned about the variants as well and the fact that testing and vaccination are not where they should be to get this under control here in the U.S.

With that in mind -- from a purely intuitive standpoint, is anyone getting anything regarding a spring surge (perhaps due to the variants?)

I am encouraged that vaccination is happening, but still have a "waiting for the shoe to drop" feeling about all of this. Maybe it is just me and just leftover anxiety as we wait on further vaccination? I am curious to hear what others might be getting on this.

This is a VERY good article about the early days of the pandemic in China.  What people risked to get the information out from a China full of censorship and what nation many Chinese  citizens currently blame for causing the virus.

It is long but worth your time.

I have a lot of words I could say regarding the new mandate from Texas Gov. Abbott regarding rescinding the mask mandate and opening up the state 100%.

Jeanne might need to delete my post however if I express my thoughts.

So, let your imagination run wild and PLEASE wrap a whole bunch of love and light around the those who are now collateral damage, yet again, from this "brilliant" Government.

@lovendures  at this point, the rest of the USA should probably secede from Texas.  And put a wall around it.  The state that can't keep the lights on and the water running is now actively trying to sabotage the Covid-45 recovery for the entire nation.  EVIL! ?

At some point @unk-p wrote that the country may have to secede from Texas.  I think it's going to be that Texas voters will "secede" from their state government by voting them out. It's going to take a lot of postcard writing to get them out, but it is going to happen.

Today's NYTimes "The Morning" summary talked about how some states are opening up and asking if it's too soon (of course I personally have to agree that some states are lifting restrictions too soon)  But the cute headline was about Dolly Parton. She got her Moderna covid vaccine (which she helped fund) and she tweeted that "she got a dose of her own medicine".  LOL ?

(I'm due for my first dose of the vaccine on March 26!)
