Pulmonologist and MSNBC commentator Dr. Vin Gupta just said that care is being rationed across the country right now in ICU's across the country. That we need to have a disaster mindset. That he knows of a pulmonologist that is in Texas caring for patients in !0 hospitals which is UNHEARD of and is shocking.
So, Disaster mode because of Covid for our country.
Also, I know more and more dear friends who own small businesses who must close permanently because of Covid 19. The most recent family friends own a classical ballet studio and are African American and will close down in 2 weeks. My children attended their studio since it opened 16 years ago until they entered college. It is a very sad day for so many. They broke broke down color barriers and typical male/female rolls as well. The husband taught himself how to sew tutus to make the Nutcracker tutus and other ballet costumes. I wish our government could have gotten their act together to create needed relief packages for the small businesses who are in dire need. They tried everything they could including zoom classes.
The arts are bleeding right now and we need them now more than ever.
All of these pandemic emergency benefits ( mostly Care Act) are about to expire because Congress hasn't passed anything new. It is going to get a whole bunch worse for a lot of people.
We must do better.

Most of CA is on a STAY AT HOME order, all cell phones even got an emergency alert today.
Despite that, here in San Diego, you'd never know. No compliance anywhere. People continue to stroll around maskless, ride their bikes maskless, congregate with people outside their own households, etc. Many non-essential businesses like spas and dance studios are refusing to shut down. No visible enforcement as usual. I can't even go to the supermarket again, it's too crazy. Relying on Amazon Prime Fresh for now.
I know I can't control others' behaviors, but what the hell is wrong with people? We have had a 70% increase in cases in CA in the last 2 weeks.
I don't get it.
Same happened in Wisconsin when we were getting crushed with 8-9000 new cases daily woth a population of only 5.8M. Cant have a lockdown because the state Supreme Court already overturned that months ago. Masks are worn by maybe 50% of the population, 95% of local and county police have publically said they refuse to enforce mask orders. We are down to about 4000 new cases a day and it feels like a reprieve, which is sickening. On top of all this, there is now a fight over the use of dry ice to transport vaccines. A majority of the public, and GOP lawmakers who control the senate and house here are up in arms because they want the dry ice to be used to make/ship cheese curds instead. Yes, you read that right, I live in a state that values cheese curds over covid vaccines.
Oh Good Grief. Cheese curds.
Here in AZ a local school Superintendent just resigned. His own young children who are in elementary school were threatened in person adults as well as his entire family. HIs address was posted online with threats and people were showing up and leaving things on his lawn and making threatening calls. All this because he and the school board followed local health guidelines and closed down the district schools for in person learning.
People are insane and dangerously so. In every state it would appear.
Cheese curds may not be enough in a case like these head cases.
But I howled at your strength of conviction, control and use of language and with, for and at you for I needed a good laugh in the midst of such continuing and often increasing insanity!

More friends and family are continually being exposed as essential workers or by extended family or friends even when fully masked and practicing socially and workplace distancing themselves.
My son and husnsnd were informed that a workers girlfriend tested positive yet that worker showed up at our work place unmasked to work and to let us know. He was sent home to stay and be tested, awaiting results from him.
My son-in-law had a student report he was tested as positive and 2 of our friends now have family members with Covid. One, a sister of a close family friend just died during hospitalization and another friend's brother is hospitalized and on a ventilator.
It is in our circle now just by association inspite of a multitude of precautions. The tide is coming in, closer and closer.
Isolated in my house almost completely since March 2nd with only one outing ever--and that one time to get my flu shot---yet I feel the viruse's tentacles reaching out and coming in with that tide.
