@jovesta Sternum! I couldn’t think of the word! Haha

I’ve struggled w the hate too these last 4 yrs then felt that it would only hurt me, too. Has taken a lot of practice and detachment to alleviate it.

I do feel that wrongs will be righted and while there is more trauma to come (when isn’t there in life though?), that we can and will find inner peace. Look for the helpers, I heard during a recent meditation.

@ana thank you for this perspective as it’s what I’ve believed also bc covid does not discriminate.

I’d like these other contrary feelings and words to not pop up, that’s for sure.

I try to take a deep breath--- feel the "knot" if there is one and breathe into it, and remind myself that even the most obnoxious people are still children of God/Spirit/the Cosmos.  And mostly I try to turn off the TV or radio when when said people appear.  That way my "zen" is not stressed as much.

(I'm a quadruple Libra but my moon is in a fire sign-- the fire can explode when nice balanced Libra has hit a limit.)

@earthangel   Also it helps to remember that hate can feed the hateful.  We must take care.

What are your thoughts about a karmic reckoning w people who defy common sense, science, humanity, and goodness? Does anyone else feel that this 2nd go-around w Covid (and possibly a Covid 20... sadly, that feels very strong to me) has a heavy karmic association w it?

I don't think covid-19 itself is a karmic reckoning for the world at large and the hundreds of thousands of individual lives it has claimed. However, I have always seen the evolving situation of Trump's presidency (including the Covid-19 crisis) as an essential part of his karmic reckoning, as well as that of the Trump family more generally. Of course, the question of whether our democracy will survive past Nov 3, 2020 is still up in the air, but much truth about the Trump's nefarious and sociopathic lifetime activities has begun to come forward into the public awareness, which we otherwise would never have known. By its very publicity, it is already a measure of karmic justice for this con-man who heavily relies on fraudulent facades for power.

@earthangel

I am aware of at least two general theories about karma.  There are probably more.

The prevailing theory is that God, the Universe, the Fates, The Furies, various deities, or other supernatural forces deal out karma to individuals or collectives - either as punishment or to teach life lessons.  Sometimes this karma follows a person into their next life until their transgression has been atoned or their life lessons learned.

Another view on karma is that it is just the natural and logical reaction of all the things you do in the world -- good or bad.  You do good for people and they show their appreciation by doing good toward you.  You put your hand on a stove and you naturally get burned.  You deny medicine and don't wear a mask during a pandemic and you get sick.  You neglect the environment and the natural forces of the earth react.

Whether or not some people are getting sick from Covid due to the first kind of karma, we've all seen people getting sick from Covid due to the second kind of karma.  The latest and most obvious manifestation of this being all those infected from the Rose Garden event because they defiantly refused to take the virus seriously or to wear masks around so many others.

@melmystery Thank you for this response, as these two ideas are what I’ve been feeling, yet was unsure how to reconcile them. Your perspective helps me to make sense of it all and I am grateful.

@jeanne-mayell thank you for that reminder.  In our grief and sadness I forget they still can do much from the other side.  That is true and it’s good to be reminded of that.  Thank you, I needed that today.  ❤️☮️

@lowtide - My heart breaks for you, and for your friend's family and loved ones. I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes for you ... so much loss around the world from this that it's just overwhelming. So many good people and good hearts no longer among us.
